This movie takes me back to years of my childhood, when my grandmother used to talk about her old homestead. It was a beautifully written story and Geraldine Page gave an outstanding performance.

This is such a classical, sweet, stirring movie with incredible acting.
I can't think of a movie fan that wouldn't enjoy it, and it is appropriate for families - the older members (grandmothers) and the younger. As unforgettable as the movie is, the music is also exquisite - it's uncomplicated but so perfect. I own the CD and always have it in the car, ready.

You don't see this type of movie often. Great acting my Geraldine Page! Horton Foote's writing is equally as impressive. I highly recommend this movie.

I LOVED THIS MOVIE. IT IS THE KIND OF MOVIE I WANT TO WATCH OVER AND OVER AND OVER. IT BRINGS BACK A LOT OF MEMORIES OF TIME PAST AND BEING THE AGE OF THE CARRIE I UNDERSTAND HER.

Wish this was available on DVD in the US.......2007-03-28

This film has stayed one of my very favorites through the years. It stars the fantastic (and late) Geraldine Page who plays a woman in the late years of her life whose one wish is to leave the city where she lives with her son and daughter-in-law and return to her girlhood home of Bountiful. It is a beautiful story, albeit very bittersweet. I highly recommend it.

This is one of the best, most heartfelt and moving films I have ever seen. It is so simple, and yet so beautiful. The film is about a old woman who wants only to visit her hometown of Bountiful one last time. Some of the best acting I've seen. I highly recommend.

Although the great Geraldine Page died in 1987, her brilliant screen performances live on! Nominated for 8 Oscars and winner of 1 for Best Actress for her last film "The Trip to Bountiful" in 1986, I find it surprising that many of her films for which she was Oscar nominated are not on DVD (yet). "Summer and Smoke", "Sweet Bird of Youth" (both Tennessee Williams classic works in which she lit up the screen)and "The Trip to Bountiful" are just 3 examples. Hopefully, her devoted fans won't have to wait too much longer.
