When it comes to an expressive set of lungs for horror, it's hard to match Jamie Lee Curtis, who set the standard for nonstop screaming in Halloween. She built her reputation as a scream queen in such subsequent outings as The Fog, Terror Train, and this similarly themed and relatively subpar horror outing. A progenitor of I Know What You Did Last Summer, this film focuses on four high school friends on prom night who are being stalked by a masked maniac seeking revenge for a death that occurred six years earlier. Guess who lives to tell the tale? --Marshall Fine
Product Description
Directed by Paul Lynch, this cult horror masterpiece starring Leslie Nielsen and scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis paved the way for future slasher films and inspired such blockbusters as Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer. For six long years, Hamilton High School seniors Kelly (Marybeth Rubins), Jude (Joy Thompson), Wendy (Eddie Benton), and Nick (Casey Stevens) have been hiding the truth of what happened to ten-year-old Robin Hammond the day her broken body was discovered near an old abandoned convent. The foursome kept secret how they taunted Robin - backed her into a corner until, frightened, she stood on a window ledge...and fell to her death. Though an accident, the then-twelve-year-olds feared they'd be held responsible and vowed never to tell. But someone else was there that day...watching. And now, that someone is ready to exact murderous revenge - on prom night.

Get Down With Jamie Lee.......2007-09-03
Prom Night's one of those slasher films that shows the perils of trying to cover up an accidental death long before that crapfest I Know What You Did Last Summer. This film stands a bit outside other films in the genre like Friday the 13th or The Burning coz it actually tries to build up a story. It throws you a few possible suspects and tries to build the relationships with the characters to varying degrees of success. In fact, after awhile you may forget you're watching a horror movie. The first kill doesn't come in till just after the hour mark. I actually didn't mind this buildup, even if the payoff wasn't as brutal as it could have been. Unlike alot of folks, I didn't really find myself bored with the movie-not terrible excited, but not bored stiff either. In today's movie world of rapid fire MTV editing, most moviegoers will find this pacing dumb and boring, but I didn't mind the attempt at building a story. Leslie Nielsen isn't given a whole lot to do, and he kinda just disappears after awhile. Jamie Lee is looking cute and giving Travolta a run for his money on the dance floor(I don't get all the negativity regarding disco scenes. Disco was "in" when this film was made, and it would make sense that a high school prom at this time would have been full of disco music and dancing. Modern day movies with scenes in dance clubs look just as stupid if you ask me), but she seems to be given little to do also. Plus, at the beginning we see that she isn't on the killer's written list of victims, so we're never really concerned about her safety. I've seen this movie numerous times throughout the years, and while it's not my favorite of the genre, I don't mind catching it once in a while. It may not succeed at everything it was trying to accomplish, but I admire the effort. The movie has been influential however on many other horror films. Now of course I'm sure it's time for someone to remake it. Most likely the prom dance scenes will now be at a rave or some ridiculous thing. Hold me back.
Love it!.......2007-09-02
This is one of my favorite horror movies. It does what it was intended to do: entertain and scare. Some of the death sequences are very suspenseful. No, they are not comparable to the modern day, (pulling a baby out of a woman and then beating her head in--thank you "Hills Have Eyes 2" for the utterly disgusting visuals), the scenes are very much rooted in the late 1970's-80's slasher films. If you like movies from this genre, this should be right up your alley. It would be a major plus if you loved disco as well!
Poorest DVD Quality Ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2007-08-25
I love this film as I'm a big fan of B/grade horror and slasher films. This is just the poorest quality transfer I have ever seen!!!!!! Amazon you should be ashamed to even stock DVD's with such poor quality. I sent an e-mail to your customer service after I received this purchase and they just avoided the topic in their reply!!!!
I see now you're advertising a new version to be released Oct '07. Hope this copy is better!!!
Snoresville, MAN........2007-08-25
Here's an apt summary of this flick: during a particularly demented playtime accident, a little girl falls to her death. The responsible kids swear an oath of secrecy, unaware that her brother witnessed everything. Six years later, this brother goes on a killing spree to avenge his sister's death, harassing the teenage murderers with asinine phone calls before murdering most of them at the prom.
Oh, did I spoil the film for you? Good. Because if it prevents you from ever watching this drivel, I've done a good deed.
"Prom Night" is utterly worthless, a poorly-executed bore of a film that gives cheesy B-movies a bad name. I rented this mess because there was nothing else in my local video store that I either hadn't seen or that looked even remotely palatable. For a couple of examples of the former, even I can only watch "The Thing" or "The Shining" so many times, and late August is hardly suitable for the chilly climes of those two great films. That aside, I readily admit that I set my standards pretty low when settling for this tripe.
Almost all of the "teenagers" in this movie are very obviously in their twenties, especially Curtis. In fact, Melanie Morse was in her early thirties when she starred in this! She looks good, but she's not fooling anyone into thinking she's a teenie! Even in a post-Larry Clark world, the practice of casting twentysomethings as teens persists primarily because so few decent teen actors exist. It's an irritating syndrome, to type the least.
If you're still sore about my spoiler, don't be. Unless you're particularly dense, you would have figured it out halfway through the film. The movie tosses out a lame red herring in the contrived form of a psychotic, deformed, wrongly accused murderer, but nobody with a functioning brain will be fooled by this.
So what does "Prom Night" actually have to offer for whoever's willing to sit through this immediate post-'70s disaster? A decent beheading, a moderately tense chase, a disco scene that's slightly more hilarious than anything featured in Saturday Night Fever and some passable performances by Nielsen and Curtis. And make no mistake, if those two weren't in this ugly little atrocity, it would have remained buried in a film vault forever.
And what doth "Prom Night" implement to take away? Aside from the bland tedium of the underdeveloped plot, the viewer must endure the sight of Nielsen stiffly trying to dance, implied sex between a chubby girl and a bloated, dorky Jewish kid and a lot of excruciatingly bad acting. Never mind that the film's lead actress is one of the great scream queens of all time, but is barely given an opportunity to use those pipes of hers!
To put this into perspective, I love B-movies, especially bad ones, as long as they're lively and entertaining. But this wouldn't even have sufficed as an MST3K target. It's boring, inane and entirely worthless.
This DVD edition is the most minimal disc that I've ever viewed. It includes no special features, and the single screen of scene selections breaks the film into five parts! What bothers me is the poor quality of the disc. It's not so bad that the film stock is grainy, but couldn't they have cleaned up the muddled, hiss-impaired soundtrack? I could have done more to improve the sound of this film with my copy of Audacity.
I don't know what's more incredible to me: that this piece of crap spawned three sequels, that's it's regarded as a cult classic in a few desperate circles or that a remake is currently in production to be released next year. The first fact proves that sequels to bad horror films are always inevitable, the second implies that the standards for mayhem and quality among some are surprisingly low, and the third...well, you know it. There are so few original ideas floating around in Hollywood that they'll remake anything. ANYTHING.

Hello, Mary Lou Prom Night II.......2007-09-14
This movie was interesting, except for that digusting stink bombe washroom scene, the graphic nudity that took place in the girls change room, the shower scene and the kissing scene Mary Lou Maloney did with Vicki Carpenter's father.
The Partland Brothers 1987 hit Soul City from thier 1987 self-titled album
was in the movie background when Vicki and Craig were at the cafe.
There was good looking guys, some of them glam rock star type.
The ending didn't make sense.
Mary Lou's ex back in 1957 gives her back her crown, they embrace, kiss, and are magically sent back to the past, their prom night in the year 1957, and Mary lou being back to her non-burnt live human being, and Nordham being back to the same teenager he was back then, and instead of Mary Lou dancing with Buddy, it was with Nordham.
They shouldv'e ended the movie with the time frame being set back to 1957 with Mary Lou and Nordham being 17, everyone who was there that night leaving peaceful and then the next day in the year 1957 every teenager going about school like any other day and wondering about the future.
PROM NIGHT 2 ends up being alot better than you might think!.......2006-10-31
Have you seen the first PROM NIGHT movie? Have you seen the second PROM NIGHT movie? Are you confused? Thats because HELLO MARY LOU - PROM NIGHT 2 pretty much has nothing to do with the first movie. Well, with the exception of the title that is. Whatever reason the film makers decided to go into a totally different direction (maybe they did it for the "hip" and new generation of teenage Horror movie watchers) is fine by me, the end result turns out pretty good. Basically, PROM NIGHT 2 is about this girl Mary Lou who is burned alive at her prom many years ago. Fastforward to the 1980's and suddenly the past is coming back to haunt the school Mary Lou died at. The movie has a few plot holes as to how Mary Lou comes back to haunt the school or where she gets all of these evil powers. Basically it's a small scene with her old prom crown being the center pice of her "powers." Whatever. Small details that don't really hold the movie back any. Anyways, one of the blonde girls at the Highschool finds herself the focus of some nasty visions and eventually Mary Lou takes over her body. She uses her new physical body to get revenge on some of the teachers that are to blame for her dying in the past and a couple of teenagers in the process. One of my favorite scenes in the movie is a part where Mary Lou is hunting a girl in a locker room. The girl goes to hide in a locker and Mary Lou uses her "powers" (think Nightmare on Elm Street special effects) to smash all the lockers together, crushing her in the process. It's a really nasty scene that gore hounds will eat up, no problem! Over all, HELLO MARY LOU - PROM NIGHT 2 is a well made Horror movie that goes beyond expectations. With good acting, high production, wonderful special effects and a enjoyable (if only a little bit flawed) plot, PROM NIGHT 2 is perfect for any Horror fans movie collection. Those who enjoy movies like Nightmare On Elm Street, Friday The 13th and Hellraiser will find much to enjoy here. Gore hounds and special effect junkies check it out!
Horror Fan.......2006-04-21
I really enjoyed this film! it may be very corny but that doesn't matter, it has a fast pace, some great gore, a lesbian situation and a disturbing incest moment, but overall I still loved this film!
great movie but definitely NOT widescreen.......2006-03-29
movie claims to be "enhanced for 16x9" but this is meaningless market drivel. It's often referred to as "widescreen" in the DVD descriptions on the web, too. Not true. Seems the Prom Night series has DVD management consistently punting on widescreen support (read: showing the movie as it was filmed and intended by the director). It would be great if all the late-nineties first-run panic-to-market DVDs were reissued in widescreen.
Prom Night 2 is the Best !!!.......2005-11-30
All the prom nights are classics, I really love this one that revolves around Mary Lou Maloney, this is horror at it's best. Mary Lou is killed in a fire and her life is cut short so she comes back... and possesses an innocent girl to take revenge on the ones she feels is responsibile for her death.

A Special Tribute to Sir Andrew Davis.......2007-07-09
This 2000 version of Last Night at the Proms pays a special tribute to Sir Andrew Davis, who held the role of conductor of the BBC Symphony & Orchestra from 1988 to 2000.
As a frequent visitor to Great Britain, I have watched the BBC broadcast of previous years of the Last Night of the Proms, and found myself very much a part of the celebrations of British Heritage!
Watching the 2000 version on this DVD was no exception, it is wonderful having the option of playing the individual tracks such as Land of Hope and Glory, Rule Britannia and Jerusalem! Another option the DVD allows is to watch the full program with or without some limited commentary.
Enjoy!!
The Proms have to say: thank you Hilary.......2006-03-08
Yes, everybody from Andrew Davis to the last person in Hyde Park listening to the concert has to say this words: thank you Hilary Hahn. Her performance, in my opinion, has been the most beautiful, touching, measured moment through all the event. While everybody screamed on any other piece, demonstrating that in this kind of events the most important thing is the SHOW (the "english" show...), during Hilary Hahn's performance (half an hour with Mozart violin concerto n.4 and Bach's presto from sonata n.1 as encore) nobody spoke. everybody stopped and stared at an angel playing the violin. only Hilary Hahn can do that in a Hall with more than 6000 people inside whatching her.
a religious silence covered the royal albert hall that night, when she started playing. the other pieces in the program are the symbol of english music, of UK's military power; but every orchestra plays this kind of music in the same way.
nothing to do with miss Hahn: no one plays like her.
conductor...2 stars (he's not precise...); orchestra 4 stars;5 stars to Hilary (is it possible to put 10 stars...?).
Hahn & The Best Mozart D Major and Bach G min Presto I've Ever Heard or Seen.......2005-08-14
I didn't know about this dvd until a few months ago when I was browsing Hilary's website and I found a link to this dvd. The person who reviewed this dvd before me didn't even mention that Hilary Hahn plays on this. I was delighted when I finally bought this and went home to play it.
I've been a huge fan of Hilary Hahn ever since her debut Bach cd came out. Alot of people were arguing that the Chaconne was too slow but I loved it. When I heard the Brahms, I was totally blown away. Well this performance of Mozart Concerto 4 with the Bach G min Presto as an encore really blew me away again.
First of all, Hilary has the most perfect bow arm I've seen since Milstein, not alot of bow pressure but alot of speed and a deadly accurate sense of timing, she also plays clear articulate legatos and a spiccato that is always dead on. Like Milstein, her vibrato is very modest and never overstated but at times approaches the romanticness of Mr. Szeryng: always in good taste but never overly so.
I would have preferred a dvd of the Brahms because the cd really blew me away but this is equally impressive. According to her web journal she has been playing concertos by Paganini, Spohr, Vieuxtemps 4, Bruch and Korngold. I'm trying to imagine watching those concerts on video as well. Hey Hilary, please keep the videos coming!
Taste the Last Night excitement!.......2004-10-04
If you thought classical music lovers all over the world came neatly dressed and sat quietly during the concerts, here is a concert that will change all such impressions. This is the Last Night of the Proms concert conducted by Sir Andrew Davis.
The music on this DVD is a bit British oriented, which is a norm for the Last Night, I guess. There is an orchestral arrangement of Bach's prelude by Elgar. And then there is Rule Britannia by Arne, Pomp and Circumstance March by Elgar, Fantasia on Sea Songs by Sir Henry Wood, Jerusalem etc accompanied by claps, baloon bursts, taxi horns and what not! The musical arrangment of Sir Andrew's farewel speech is a nice curiosity in addition to the "traditional" pieces performed in a Proms' finale.
I have two reservations about this DVD before recommending this disc to anyone:
1) The layer switch on this dual layer DVD happens towards the last note of the Shostakovich's Jazz Suite. On some DVD players like mine, this causes a momentary pause and drains all the excitement away from such a piece. I am sure the DVD specifications allow the data files on the disc to be organized in such a way to avoid the layer switch in the middle of a track.
2) The programme is interwoven with interviews and announcements, which is good for the first time, but boring on repeated listenings.
But I'd still recommend this disc to anyone who would like to sample the excitement of the Last Night, but could never be there yet.

She's Back..........again!.......2005-10-17
If you are a horror buff that loves ALL horror movies, and not JUST the ones with the '05 special effects, you'll love this one,I did. The humor is a little dry, but I still loved it.
BOTH ARE FUN AND GOOD FLICKS!!!!!!.......2005-09-12
Prom Night 3 is awesome has a hot sexy cast and the story is the same as Prom Night 2!!!!!! Mary Lou is back in action killing students and teachers again,but this time she is in love with Zach Gillian!!!!!!!! Prom Night 3 is a five star movie and as far as the other one i would have to give it a four star it wasn't as good as the other one!!!!!!! Check them out!!!!
It's Not Who You Come WIth, It's Who Takes You Home.......2005-07-12
~~~~~Prom Night 3 (*** 3 Stars)~~~~~
Prom Night 3 takes the character from Part 2, Mary Lou and does an interesting thing with her character for this film. Mary Lou has gotten her revenge and shes still floting around the school. And with nothing to do and no one left to kill who needs killing she falls in love with one of the students and helps him go from a nobody to an honour student and his grades and ppopularity increase. However, anybody that keeps trying to get in the way, interfear with him, or find out whats really going on, there fate is dealt with by Mary Lou.
However he is not too happy with her killings, she cant stop and he's doubhting it will work out.... will he work it out with Mary Lou? or will he tell her it's over and turn his life upside down? ...duh
Overall I thought it was pretty interesting. I thought for a moment it's pretty original for a ghost to fall in love with a human, but then I thought a film called High Spirits and a few others, but this one is unique in it's own way. This is done more in a Horror way. However, keep in mind that this is a Horror/Comedy. So blood and gore fans who just wanna see brutality, or those who dont like comedy with there decapatations might not like this film.
I guess maybe if you like Night Of The Living Dead or Sean Of The Dead kind of movies, you might enjoy this movie.
Theres no bonus features at all. I think this movie is still better then the 1st, but it's not as good as part 2. But it's in 2nd place of all 4 movies for me!
~~~~~Prom Night 4 (* One Star)~~~~~~
This time Prom Night hasnt got anything to do with Mary Lou. Which I think is the wrong direction. I find it pretty stale, humorless, goreless and pretty boring at times. Suprsingly it does come with a trailer which is more then any of the others can say. But this film just shouldnt have been added to the Prom Night saga. It's the typical horney teenagers, unsupervised, haunted house thing. Seen it, zzzzz. I can see why it was added with part 3.
Tho I give it 1 star, I kind of lean more to just below 2 stars.. kind of a one and a half star rating. I've seen alot worse, but I would probably give those films -1 stars. But this film just needed blood and guts to be affective rather then a done-to-death already senario.

2 fun movies for a late night weekend watch.......2003-11-17
Prom night 3 (1989)Was in fact rather fun, comedic and shall I dare say, semi creepy? It wasn't like part 1, or even 2, but it was still decent, while the 1991 'finale' deliver us from evil takes us into a very similar direction as the cheap yet scary 'HALLOWEEN: THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS' Director's cut...but that one at least has pace. I actually thought they were both decent, especially part 3, the transfer on part 3 was pretty good, fullscreen, but it looked sharper then the VHS, yet part 4, not so much...it looked the same as a VHS except less speckling and no backround film sound (like old vhs's have)I liked the fact that it was realy cheap and it's 2 movies for 1 low price, part 3 was about mary lou like part 2, except this one takes a dark humor route, part 4 had some semi suspense in it but was pretty cheap. Overall quality isn't that spectacular, but admit it, neither were these sequels...

ANYTHING.

This product was returned due to it not being closed captioned. The movie is great, I have seen it before, but I needed the CC.

Description
It's the way we've always done it. That's how the tradition of a black prom and a white prom were explained in a small Georgia town. But last year tradition was broken and there was an integrated dance. This year, though, there will be two dances again. Why? ABC News went down to Georgia and found not just split proms, but in the high school yearbook, in the pages where kids are labeled "Most this" or "Most that" there are always two couples, one white, one black. Everything is split, and duplicated. Correspondent: Jim Wooten

Description
Filmmaker Hali Lee thought her own prom was a real letdown, yet she continued to be fascinated by the endurance of this quintessentially American coming-of-age ritual. To discover why, she returns to her hometown of Kansas City to track the pomp, preparations and individual stories of would be promgoers as diverse as America itself. Among them: Smurf, an inner-city track star who is gunning for Prom King; Nick, who attends a No-Dancing-or-Spaghetti-Straps celebration of an ultra-conservative Christian school; Gayla, an openly lesbian teen who participates in an alternative event by a gay & lesbian youth group; and Oliver, an anti-prom slacker who takes his video camera as his date. With wry humor and an analytical eye, Lee and co-director Peter von Ziegesar breezily capture the fabricated fantasies, kitsch and pageantry that keep proms eternal.

A Perfect Film For Family Viewing.......2005-09-03
We all loved "Prom Night", particularly our 13 year-old daughter. It raised all sorts of questions that were great discussion-starters about conformity, cultural expectations and the pressure that goes along with them, and growing up.
Funny, Insightful Documentary .......2005-07-27
Well filmed, brilliant editing, fascinating view into the lives of modern day teenage life in the midwest. LOVED this movie.
