Warrior woman Lana Clarkson (Deathstalker) survives the massacre of her little village (on the eve of her marriage to a tribal prince) and vows revenge. Surrounding herself with an estrogen brigade of female fighters, she makes quick work of the marauders before moving on to the city to lead the brewing rebellion against the evil king. Don't think for a second that this is about empowered women: every female character is raped or molested in the picture. Ostensibly directed by Héctor Olivera (Funny Dirty Little War), this silly, badly dubbed, shot-in-Argentina production is full of gratuitous nudity and slapdash but serviceable action and is enlivened largely by Clarkson's charisma and energy. Much of the marvelous music is cribbed from James Horner's lush Battle Beyond the Stars score. Clarkson returns in the sequel, Barbarian Queen II: The Empress Strikes Back. --Sean Axmaker

Barbarian Queen - Uncut.......2007-04-30
If its the uncut version your after then look for VHS video copies, its not available, or was never put on DVD. The only available versions are the ones that were released by Vestron Video, all the other studios only have the cut version. There was only this one scene that was cut out which lasted about 2 mins and was a torture scene which showed the late Lana Clarkson tied up to a rack and then scissoring this torturer and pushing him in a vat of acid, and considering the rest of the film features limbs being cut off and breasts bouncing up and down all over the place, why the hell it was cut out is a mystery.
But as i first said the only way of getting the uncut version is looking for a copy for sale that's on VHS tape only (not DVD) and the studio name who released it is Vestron Video. Its rare and not easy to find, but worth owning if you can get it.
R.I.P Lana Clarkson
"Bondage Scene" NOT COMPLETE!.......2003-01-15
I just got my copy of the DVD R-Rated version and yes the best parts of the bondage scene are missing. Why those edit happy bozos would remove the lower body scenes showing the actresses powerful legs around her captor and leave the breasts showing is beyond me. Since this scene is most appealing in the way the Original version first displayed it in 85, to take it out in my opinion degrades the movie entirely. I was completely dissapointed in this version of the movie. If anyone saw the unrated 1985 Vhs version you would know what I mean. Lana was the movie. Why remove it????? I have [not a] clue!!! Unsatisfied customer.
For those looking to upgrade their VHS copy.......2002-08-28
There are two forms of the movie on VHS. The R rated one and the Unrated one. The DVD is of the R rated version. The only difference is in the Lana Clarkson bondage scene (which, if you ask me, is the best scene in the movie). Something is missing in the R rated version. Benefits to getting the DVD? Immediately go to your favorite scene. On top of that, the picture clarity is much MUCH better than your old beat-up tape.
About the movie? Well, I'm about as big a cinema snob as you can get without being a professional film critic. I love the classic film-makers. Kurosawa, Kubrick, Keaton, Ford, Wilder, Hitchcock, etc. But I really like this movie. It is one of the best B movies out there. What's so great about a B movie? I think it's intent. B movies are obvious. They know exactly what they are and what they can do. They are there for a little action, a little adventure, some blood and guts, some T and A. They don't try to be anything more than that. That's why they are my guilty little pleasure.
You want a good B movie? Get this one, if you can. But if you have the unrated VHS, you might want to have second thoughts about this purchase. But then again, it's 10 bucks. Why not?
Beautiful BAD Movie.......2002-03-18
I would say that this movie is ... good. This is definitely going to keep u watching from beginning to end as u count the number of times the actresses are [exploited].
Not Deathstalker but very good.......2001-11-16
I like the barbarian queen movies as much as I like the mid deathstalker sequels not touching the first or 4th one but as good is about 2 & 3 of deathstalker I wish they would take it easy on the rape scenes .....a little t&a but god all in all not bad

Simply boring.......2006-03-02
Ok,I know these are low budget movies and the main interest is seeing Lana Clarkson nude so I keep forwarding the disc until I had some skin scenes.I must say the torture rack scene in Barbarian Queen is quite good fact that doesn't occour in the sequel.Poor acting and dialogue, bad staged sword fights, lots of extras and awful clothing.A set of flicks to see with your friends on a boring and rainy Friday night.
Simply Entertaining!.......2004-04-13
Of course these films are not high class movie entertianment. The title is Barbarian Queen for goodness sake! But they are super enjoyable in the bad movie vein. What we get here is is the beautiful Lana Clarkson (Rest In Peace) participating in some poorly staged sword fights and giving us some of the best "bad" one liners in film history as she goes on various quests. These films are definitly not for everyone, but if you find guilty pleasure in bad low budget 80's flicks such as Deathstalker, you will find enjoyment in the Barbarian Queen flicks, especially getting both films in one set! These are great films to watch with a group of friends on a slow Friday night.
Simply Terrible.......2003-05-17
In the early 1980s Roger Corman unleased a large number of [poorly made] barbarian films in order to cash in on the success of the Conan movies. They sure have not improved with age.
In the first of the two films on this DVD, the Barbarian Queen (played by Lana Clarkson) is about to get married when an evil tyrant comes along and slaughters everyone, and raping and general exploitation ensues. The Barbarian Queen, who of course escapes, meets up with other angry young women who team up with her to get revenge. Such a plot could provide the makings of a guilty pleasure, but it completely fails to deliver. Most of this film is taken up by people walking around and talking to each other. The only thing good that can be said about this film is that it is not quite as bad as the barbarian films Sybil Danning made for Harry Alan Towers (or was it Fred Olen Ray?), but even the horrendous Italian Ator films (one can be found on the second MST3000 collection) at least managed to mix in an iota of imagination along with sheer boredom.
In Barbarian Queen 2, Lana Clarkson plays a descendant of her character in the first film. Her throne is taken from her by an evil tyrant who keeps her alive because he wants a powerful magical sword which is floating around in a magical protective barrier in one of the castle's rooms, and only Lana knows the spell necessary to wield it without bursting into flames. It only occurs to her to free the sword for her own use near the end the film (and even then doesn't really use it). Therefore much of the movie is taken up by the tyrant trying to convince Lana to hand over the bloody sword already. There is one scene in a torture chamber which is interesting in a twisted sort of way, and there is a subplot which is good for some laughs about an evil preteen girl who plans to get married to a guard who is in his early 30s, and he goes along with her romantic advances because she is in line to inherit the throne when she grows up. There is also an interesting twist at the end of the film. For these reasons I considered giving this second film something closer to 2 stars, but, naaah, not quite.
Maybe some people who like other schlocky Corman barbarian films such as Deathstalker will be able to somehow sit through this double feature.

For Lana Clarkson fans only.......2001-12-01
An incredibly bad film, whose only redeeming feature is Lana Clarkson, in (and out of) some skimpy outfits. She's completely gorgeous, but even she can't save a disaster of a film. Buy Deathstalker instead.
Great Movie.......2001-11-29
Although this movie had nothing at all to do with Barbarian Queen 1 & Had horrible props { the swords were cheap plastic toys}I thought this movie was great!!! Bad props that's all that lacked. It would have been better If Rick Hill made an appearance in the movie But all in all awesome movie Even Joe Bob Briggs, gave it 4 stars AND SO Do I.....Better than the first in many ways,
a Must Buy
WHY AREN'T ZERO STARS AVAILABLE FOR RATING??????.......1999-05-20
Maybe I should have known better, but hokey and horrible do not have to be the same. This is a four dollar movie in any department store.
See it for the mud-wrestling and dungeon scenes.......1999-05-18
Fans of the first "Barbarian Queen" film will enjoy this film, too, for the same reasons they liked the first film: Lana Clarkson half-naked on a rack being tortured by an evil guy. In the first film it was a small man wearing thick glasses torturing her with a small needle. In this film its her evil brother torturing her by lowering her onto a bed of spikes (she's not actually lowered, just taunted a bit).
None of the characters from the first film are in the second film, and even Lana's character has a new name, so its not really a part of the first film's series but just some marketing trickery by the movie's salesmen. But it has Lana Clarkson in it and that's the real reason you'll want to watch this film.
Lana plays the queen of a kingdom, but is overthrown by her evil brother and forced to flee into the woods where she defeats the leader of a band of women warriors (pretty good cat-fight mud wrestling scene in which Lana end up topless but victorious). She leads the band in an attack against the evil brother's castle, but she is defeated and thrown in the dungeon. Bound to an upright rack, the brother recites some evil dialogue, rips off her top, and recites some more evil dialogue. Then a girl enters the scene and states that she will enjoy torturing people when she becomes queen. Lana launches a retort and is then lowered over a bed of spikes by the evil brother. Now, this part of the scene is pretty hokey, because the girl and the brother are leaning into the scene to see Lana's face, and you can tell that Lana is just leaning into the scene as well and isn't really suspended from the table. Oh well.
Anyway, the evil pair go off to dinner and Lana makes her escape (how she got out of the cuffs without falling into the spikes isn't explained) and tries to take a magic sceptre, the source of power in the kingdom. She's recaptured and thrown in the dungeon again, where the evil brother recites some more evil dialogue but doesn't really do anything. Still, I have to give credit to Lana for getting back up on the table again.
Moving ahead in the plot, a good knight rescues Lana and together with the band of women warriors they successfully defeat the evil brother and free the kingdom.
Best reason to get this film: Lana Clarkson's dungeon scenes, but feel free to fast-forward through the rest of the movie.
If I were a movie producer, I'd see if I could get Lana to do a third "Barbarian Queen" film (if she's still got the body for it). The plot would be something like this: Lana is queen of the kingdom and has a sister (played by Elizabeth Kaitan (aka Elizabeth Cayton)of "Slave Girls From Beyond Infinity"). An evil queen, (played by Brinke Stevens, also of "Slave Girls From Beyond Infinity" and "Cyberzone") kidnaps the sister and throws her in the dungeon where she is tortured for information about the magic sceptre. Lana negotiates a deal for the release of the sister by surrendering herself to the evil queen. Lana is then thrown in the dungeon and tortured until the sister launches an attack on the castle and frees Lana. The evil queen is then thrown in the dungeon herself, so that the fourth movie (since my third movie idea is so successful they'd want to make a fourth) could be about the evil queen escaping and regaining her lost kingdom. Anyone with movie connections, feel free to take this idea and make it into a film. I'd be the first one in line at the video store!
Lana Clarkson's dungeon scenes better than whole movie.......1999-05-18
This is marketed as the sequel to "Barbarian Queen", which wasn't much of a movie to begin with other than Lana Clarkson (who plays the title character) being strapped to a rack and tortured with a needle by a little man who wears thick glasses (this whole scene is done much better than any other scene in the "BQ" movie). Oddly, none of the characters from the first film are in the second film, and even Lana Clarkson's character has a new name. I believe this second film was supposed to be a whole different series, but the financers figured they could cash in on the "Barbarian Queen" moniker and draw in more fans. Oh well.
In short, Lana is overthrown as queen by her evil brother and is forced to flee into the woods, where she defeats the leader of a band of women warriors and becomes their leader (complete with cat-fighting mud-wrestling scene that ends with Lana topless but victorious). The women then attack the castle to free the people of the land, but they are defeated and Lana is thrown in the dungeon where the evil brother tries to get her to reveal the secrets of the magic sceptre (the source of power in the kingdom). This scene is as good as the dungeon scene in the first "Barbarian Queen" film, with Lana topless on a rack as her brother lowers her onto a bed of spikes. Seemed a bit ornate to me - why not just jab her with a single spike over and over until she talks? - and the end of the dungeon sequence is a bit hokey (you can tell that Lana is just leaning into the shot and is not really suspended from the table). But Lana does a pretty good job with what she's given.
Anyway, when the evil brother goes off to dinner, Lana effects her escape from the dungeon and tries to steal the sceptre, where she's then captured again. Sentenced to death by torture, she's thrown back in the dungeon. This scene isn't as long as the first dungeon scene and the evil brother doesn't do anything but recite some evil verbage, but it's still nice to see Lana on the rack again.
Ok, fast forward a bit here. A good knight decides to rescue Lana, and together with the band of women warriors they defeat the evil brother and save the land. Hooray.
As you may have guessed, this is a film that doesn't require much intelligence, and you can follow enough of the plot by keeping your finger on the Fast-Forward button until you get to Lana's action scenes, which is the reason you'll want to watch this film in the first place.
I also recommend you add to your library "Slave Girls From Beyond Infinity" which is better than the title would imply.
