Description
Nearly a decade after two young girls are brutally murdered, the monstrous killer, Jonah, escapes from a mental institution and returns to his familiar killing ground, the theme park attraction "Dark Ride." His unfortunate victims this time are a group of college kids on a road trip that inevitably leads them to the Dark Ride where their night of youthful fun becomes a nightmare. The killer, who is mimicking the sets within the attraction, makes sure this is a "ride" audiences will never forget.

Pretty good, but I hated that little creep.......2007-08-04
For me, this film earned 4 stars because it did a good job of reworking the original movie 'Funhouse', which is on my list as one of the 5 greatest movies ever made. In fact, I thought it was downright eerie how much Jamie Lynn-Sigler reminded me of Elizabeth Berridge at the end of the film. There was some humor in the film that seemed very natural like these were people who might actually talk and act like they did. I felt that the characters were actually people you could care about one way or another. This movie was bloody enough for me, had enough violence and jumps to keep me interested and had some pretty good characters. I won't say what little creep I didn't like (actually he was great) but if you watch it you will know. I also loved Jim played by Alex Solowitz. This guy played the part of horror movie fodder for the bad guy terrifically. The only mystery is how he survived so long, but I loved his character's mental deteriorization. The killer was pretty standard fare but the little twist at the end was kind of neat. All in all, this was a nice diverting hour and a half. The original 'Fun House' was a classic. This one was pretty good and did not shame the original. I now own both.
Not too bad.......2007-07-22
I'll have to say that from all of the "After Dark Horrorfest" and "Films to Die For" that this film is probably one of the better ones. I liked the storyline most of all; unfortunately, I did NOT like most of the actors or the acting in this film, and the college students (they seem more like immature high school students) are so obnoxious you actually want to see something bad happen to them. I might also mention that this film really wouldn't have been notable enough if not for the Grand Guignol Carnival Ride which has some of the coolest props. (By the way, this film reminds me of "The Funhouse," but I suppose it's to be expected that nothing original comes out of Hollywood or any other movie producing company of franchise these days.)
Boooooooooring Ride.......2007-07-19
This is the 3rd film I have bought from this series, and its been by far the worst movie I have seen in a long time. Its boring, its so predictable, the sript is full of stupid "twists", doesnt have a link between one thing to the other, the start to "play" with the time lines, and dont know how to do it. Its awful and boring.
Disappointed.......2007-07-10
I am so happy I did not waste my money buying this DVD...I rented it for half price at a video store and I have to say it is one of the worst movies I have ever picked up....the idea was great..."killer in the theme park horror ride" made the movie seem as if it was worth watching because almost everyone has been in a ride like that when they were younger
however, the acting was so bad...it was dreadful...and the blonde hitch- hiker made the movie so much worse...she was like "let's get high" the ENTIRE movie
dont buy this on dvd

Dark Carnival is a bust.......2003-09-30
I was so glad to see this film on DVD. I was one of the lucky few who got to attend the first audience screening of this film way back in 1993. The film was made in my hometown and the headline in our local paper stated the following at that time: "Local Film Cinematic Nightmare". So much for civic pride!
With cardboard acting, cheesy set design and cinematography that is so sub standard it makes John Russo look like Orson Welles, this feature was destined for the scrap heap (or at the very least the coveted 4:45am slot on Drive-in theater).
If you like this one seek out "Alex's Apartment" for further reaearch into the local "cinema subbasement". Thank god for DVD!
Dark Carnival should be a cult classic!.......2001-10-10
Dark Carnival is one of those rare no-name low-budgeters that could really make cult status. As it follows its some-what quirky characters through their escape from a haunted-haunted house one can feel the creative production atmosphere that must have gone into making this oddity. True boot-strap filmmaking and boy-next-door production ingenuity.
Cool Name, Bad Movie.......2000-04-07
If you shell out the cash for Dark Carnival, don't be surprised if you throw it out the window. The acting was horrid, the effects worse, no real point. It was a movie wandering amlessly throughout where ever bad movies go. Movie heaven maybe, but unfortunatly Dark Carnival probally went to movie hell. I love cheesey horror flicks, but this was down right a waste of time. Rent if you are curious, but don't throw away your cash on such a bad flick.
