Taking full advantage of the DVD format, this installment of the Roller Coaster Thrills series offers viewers a choice of two camera angles for each of the 20 rides captured on this disc. Anticipate the fear of that initial heart-stopping plunge with a first-person perspective, or face backward and watch the reactions of the riders--either way, it's a great ride. The virtual tour across U.S. theme parks includes old-fashioned woodies, dual-track looping coasters, and colossal steel mega-coasters with 300-foot drops. Many of the featured coasters were built in 1999 and show off the latest advances in roller coaster engineering; in fact, one launched coaster has apparently garnered interest from NASA engineers for the speed of its propulsion (0 to 60 mph in under 3 seconds). The disc is also packed with special features: amusement park histories, interviews with roller coaster designers, behind-the-scenes insights from director Ned Rodgers and director of photography Dave Cutler, plus Dolby Digital and DTS surround sound, and bonus footage of the first combination roller coaster and water ride. --Larisa Lomacky Moore

Really Thrilling.......2006-07-28
This is a great dvd from beginning to end. My 16 year old special needs daughter watches it over and over again. I usually get tired of watching the same dvd over and over but this one is an exception. I give this dvd 2 thumbs up.
Buck from Downunda.......2006-06-01
Only one star, because it's not possible to give a 1/2 star.
This was a great disappointment to me. Whatever possessed the producers to release this DVD as it is, is beyond me.
Yes it goes into detail about:
Where the rides are.
The ride: length; height; speed; designers etc. but fails to deliver what I expected, which was a 1st person perspective.
What you get, at a conservative ratio estimate is:
5% 1st person view (your view as the rider)
40% 2nd person view (your face as you are on the ride)
55% 3rd person view (the ride viewed from all different angles)
If the producers of this DVD are trying to promote the rides AND this DVD, then I think they need to give you the three options above for the whole ride i.e. 100% of all 3 views from a selectable menu, as per...
1st person view would let you know exactly what to expect on the ride. It would also give those unfortunate enough not to be able to actually get on these rides a chance to "ride the rollercoaster" at home.
2nd person view would give you the impression that there is a hold-up in progress when everyone puts their arms in the air...seriously though it would let you see the expressions on the faces of the people on the ride like the "horror look" as they face that first drop. It could also give you a "rear view" look of the ride as well.
3rd person view would give you an overall appreciation of the ride viewed from all different angles and the construction that went into it.
Giving you the option of 3 different viewing angles would make this a far better product and a worthy addition to any DVD collection.....something for the producers of this type of product to think about.
Pretty good - very exciting :-().......2006-03-27
I haven't seen many roller coaster dvds, but I can imagine this rates high above some others. It goes into a fair bit of detail about the particular coaster you are seeing on the screen. It will tell you the designers, the duration, the speed and the highest heights of it. They have some pretty scary rides let me tell you, but they look like so much fun.
The reason I dropped a star for the review is for the 'silly screaming' of all the girls. It's annoying after awhile. The second reason I dropped a star, is because it's quite annoying when they show you what it's like to be on the coaster via set cameras (so you get a really good feel about what fun it would be) and the next thing you know, they are showing it at another angle. I like coaster films where the camera is on the coaster and you watch it like you are riding the ride. I don't like tidbits of such angles only to have them pan away to the external shot so you lose that great feel. Despite this slight annoyance, if you are a fan of coasters like I am; you'll really apreciate this high quality production.

BUY IT FAST!!!!!!!!!!.......2007-03-24
This is a great DVD. It shows some of the best coasters around. You are able to see what it is like to ride these rides. You also get to see the faces of the riders,(Who doesn't like the faces of terrified riders?) This DVD has a lot of info in it. So if you don't want a DVD like that don't get it.
worth watching.......2006-07-28
This was a very good dvd but the narration was distracting at times. Still a good one to watch on a rainy day
Its a Promotion Film not a Thrill Ride.......2006-07-13
You will love these DVDs if you like to see the rider's mouth open and having a great time. Very little eyeing the experience of the actual ride looking foward. The film camera is always recording backwards at the riders with their months open. I could see the same thing on the Discovery Channel or any promotional film. This one really sucks. A thrills ride dvd is having the camera recording forward as the coaster runs a full lap. It doesn't happen on this promotion film dvd.
not informative...or honest.......2006-02-23
this is a poorly made video. It's a poorly researced supposedly 'independent' guide to the best rollar coasters. However, strangely, only coasters on the west coast are highlighted and even more strange Magic mountain seems to be the center of attention.
Some of these coasters look good, but a roller coaster guide that doesn't include Ohio or Florida is at best incomplete.
Roller Coaster Lovers DVD.......2006-02-12
This DVD is awsome!!! The coasters are located in the west coast mainly in California where I used to live. I liked watching this because most of these coasters I've ridin on. Like X, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Riddler's Revenge, Goliath, Superman, ect. The thing that's bad about is that when your riding the coasters, the camera switches to the rider and the front row view too often. But overal this is a coaster fanatic must-have. Go Red Sox!!!

Yeah Dude! The Tour Video!.......2007-04-18
Yeah Dude! Steve-O on tour! great footage from steveo's adventures at spring break, and all across america. all the scenes with Dee rock especially hard. watching that dude get knocked the f*** out with the skateboard would make anyone want to yell "hit him again!" haha. totally awsome.
Steve-o Vol.2 the best so far.......2003-12-19
I been a fan of Steve-o (CKY, Jackass) for sometime now and i have to say that this video dosen't disapoint. It lacks on the stunts that the first has but it dose give a good look into the life of steve-o. I personaly love this video and would say that this is a worthwhile investment for any steve-o fan
YEAH DUDE
Better than the first!.......2003-09-28
The second Steve-O Video. This video is about Steve-O and his crazy tour around America. Performing crazy, shocking and hilarious stunts. Featuring Jackasses Wee Man, Ryan Dunn, Bam Margera, Preston Lacey and skaters like Ryan Simonetti and Preston Acuff. This has more stunts than the first and is guaranteed to shock you. This video also has tons of behind the scenes footage and more girls. Tune in to see: Ti*s on fire, Trash Cans, Steve-O's eviction party, more skating, rental vans being destroyed, lighting nuts on fire, breaking mircrowaves, the fireball stunt, and many more. If you liked the first, then you'll love the second. I never get sick of watching it.
Waste of time and money.......2003-09-10
I bought this DVD thinking it would be funny, it's not, it lacks stunts, it's mostly behind the scenes stuff which to be honest is boring. It lacks the comedy of Jackass and what stunts it does have are just not funny. In one scene Steve-o sets a girls chest on fire, I don't find that funny, it's kind of weird.
Am a big fan of the jackass series and I bought this thinking it would be just as good, but it's a poor mans attempt at humour. Mostly Steve-o is out of his head on drugs and it shows alot. I hope the first in the series is better, this was just a waste of money.
1 Star

YEAH DUDE!.......2007-04-18
Steve-O annihilates the entire planet in this totally radical DVD! footage of his stage shows mixed with backstage/tour footage will keep any fan busy for a pretty long time. PCP Saved My life is a pretty good bonus disk. it shows this whole other side of steve-o.. on pcp! go buy this DVD
Blakes Review.......2007-04-15
Dang.. Steve O kinda bailed on this one. It's the worst DVD of all 3 volumes. It isnt really stunts. Just TONS of footage of them driving in cars and out in public, and a little summary of the stunts that they did in the citys for a tour show.
This one includes a bonus disc, "PCP Saved my Life" Steve O's epic tale of how he tried PCP and his crazy adventure afterwards. It runs about a half hour and is the most entertaining the first time you watch it, mostly because of the "whats gonna happen next?" factor. But watching it again is still fun too.
So once again, This is the worst of the 3 Steve O DVD's.
Check out my reviews on Volumes 1 and 2
Major disappointment.......2007-01-02
I was totally disappointed in this movie. It was a show that followed Steve-O around on tour. There weren't many stunts and the female nudity was over the top. When it came to the male nudity, it was all fuzzed out. What is up with that? Shame on the makers of the movie. What is good for the goose, is good for the gander. I don't recommend this movie to anyone. It is a total disappointment.
Good and bad........2005-07-28
i expected this to be great, but it wasnt.this is basically a movie about drunks and pot smokers filmin stuff so they get payed tons of cash to do it all again.this movie lacks stunts, but if u consider being drunk and tearin up hotels a stunt then theres plenty.
steve-o is crazy though i tip my hat of to him for doin the crazy stuff he does, but theres to much attention on the other losers in the film-nick dunlap(dumb ass idiot)and his crew.(...).but after u see the same old stunts the first hundred times it gets real boring.
steve-o has more talent he just needs to think of better and more stunts.hopefullyvolume four will be better.
yeah dude.......2005-05-29
What can I say that hasn't already been said? Cant wait 4 volume 4, and steve-0, come up with some new stunts.

Every so often, the convoluted love story Zhou Yu's Train seems to stop in its tracks and succumb to rapture, gazing on the disarmingly beautiful face of actress Gong Li. A young painter named Zhou Yu (Gong Li, Raise the Red Lantern, Shanghai Triad) falls headlong in love with a painfully shy poet, Chen Ching (Tony Leung Ka-Fai, The Lover). Twice a week she takes the train to his town to be with him, even though he's bewildered by her near-obsessive passion. On the train, a wise-cracking veterinarian (Sun Honglei) pursues Zhou Yu, but she resists his emotional directness. Zhou Yu's Train bounces back and forth, not only between these two romances but also in time, to confusing effect. But there's something compelling about Zhou Yu's need to love the version of her lover that she holds in her mind, and that sustains the movie through its muddled moments. --Bret Fetzer
Customer Reviews:
Love is art.......2007-09-10
This is not for those who do not appreciate art. This entire film was like watching a very very beautiful painting come to life.
The story line traces a woman's passion for a poet as well as another man's passion for the woman, who doesn't really acknowledge his love.
She is so full of the poet, that there is no room left for this man, a veterinarian. But his passion for her meets or exceeds that which she holds for the poet. As you watch, you develope understanding for each player. It's a great addition to an artistic film library.
Favourite shots - her walking away from the camera, skirts swinging.
Beautiful and philosophical albeit slow and confusing.......2007-08-29
I read through the reviews and found all of the various interpretations of this complex movie to be valid. Still, I don't know what to believe! However, it doesn't detract too much from the film unless you need some concrete plot and a linear storyline. I picked this up for two bucks in a Big Lots (sorry Amazon) and consider it a hidden gem. There is much to savor in this movie, from the controlled acting to the breathtaking scenery to the philosophical jewels scattered here and there. I think my favorite was the line "a lover is a mirror that allows us to see who we really are" or words to that effect - I apologize for the lack of a photographic memory. It is because of moments like these that I sat through this slow-moving tale and would do so again. This is a great movie to see with your own mate as it might provide some wonderful opportunities to chat and discover yourself in the mirror of your lover.
Simple Beauty Captured on Film.......2007-05-29
Zhou Yu's Train is one of those films that is simple, but so powerful. It is pure beauty captured on film with feeling and a grabbing story. The story and the atmosphere will pull you into the film.
Zhou Yu's train takes place in northen China where it follows the story of Zhou Yu, played marvelously by Gong Li, a woman who falls in love with a shy poet. She loves him deeply and wants nothing more than his love. The only problem is that they live an one day traintrip for each other. So two days every week, Zhou Yu takes the train to be with her lover. But life is't easy and problems start to develop. She meets an animaldoctor who falls in love with her. She is attracted to him but is deeply in love with her poet. A struggle deep inside her heart begins.
The locations in Northen China are so beautiful. Eyeopening landscapes let you feel the atmosphere. Also the camerastyle is one of the things that makes the film feel different. Next to those beautiful pans and steady shots, this film has some unsteady shots that put you right into it. It helps you to feel the story. Sometimes I had the feeling I was there, right next to the characters. It gives you pure realism.
The music in the film is gorgeous and makes you feel the story as well. The theme is wonderful and will stay in your head for some time. Even though music is present in quite a few scenes, mostly you just hear the sounds of the surroundings which also gives pleasant realism to the film.
Considering casting this film is a true masterpiece. The beautiful Gong Li acts so powerful, that with one glance of her eyes you will know how she feels. She is the one who carries the movie and makes it work.
The film is a slowpaced, may it be simple, but oh so powerful story about love and will. It feels like a romantic mystery. And I am happy to have explored it. I am blown away by it's simple and beautiful power. It is an emotional journey through the heart of a normal woman.
This film is one of the proves that China can give so much more than just epic Martial Arts films. Sometimes one of these little masterpieces comes along.
See for yourself and drift away with Zhou Yu on her train of Love.
Romance in Chinese Communism.......2007-04-02
A young and beautiful woman named Zhou Yu paints pottery and takes long train trips that seem to lead nowhere. Her destination is another town where her lover lives. He is a poet who leaves her but she continues the train trips. Another man on the train takes an interest in her. At first she rejects him but later they become closer. The key to this movie is another woman who looks a lot like Zhou Yu and seems to be following her. This lookalike woman is always seen with a book of poetry and she is always alone. It is up to the viewer to decide what is real and what is fantasy.
Gong Li is at her best!.......2007-01-20
I love this movie! Gong Li is such a great actress, she reminds me of the movie stars from the 30's and 40's.

Ever since a daring fellow in France constructed the first rudimentary roller coaster nearly 200 years ago, people have eagerly sought thrills and chills on the most frightening rides they could find. Featured in this video are the royalty of today's white-knuckle adventure rides, including high-tech roller coasters in Tampa's Busch Gardens and the Big Shot ride in Las Vegas which magnifies its intensity by being perched atop a skyscraper. Originally filmed in 70mm, the footage of the rides is intense even on the small screen. But the video loses velocity during segments explaining how the technology of thrill rides has merged with movie special effects, and the video never fully recovers from the uneven pacing. The material covered is consistently interesting, but there's no escaping the reality that explanations of how rides are conceived are no substitute for the fun of the rides themselves. But if the video never fully lives up to the promise of its first several minutes, there are still scenes in the video that are heart-stopping, and it does provide an entertaining look at the science of thrill rides. --Robert J. McNamara
Customer Reviews:
Great fun to be learned by all!.......2007-05-13
Thrill Ride is educational, while still living up to its name. Having enjoyed this while it was in IMAX theaters, I was extremely excited to see it on the small screen. Be warned, though, that if you view it on a large enough screen, you're likely to be pretty nauseous by the end. Even on a 19" screen you will still feel your stomach jerked this way and that. After the IMAX experience, it was a few hours before I recovered. Who knew nausea could be so fun?
A history of thrill rides, this film takes a deliberate slant toward motion simulators as we get closer to our own time. Since this is a movie about thrill rides, and not just roller coasters, that made sense to me. The history and technology behind thrill rides are cut in with fly-throughs of a few rides, some famous and some created (I believe) just for Thrill Ride. There's even a pretty good-sized chunk of the Back to the Future ride from Universal.
If you have even a passing interest in amusement park rides (especially motion simulators), or if you have a home theater projector, *definitely* get this movie.
Roller cosster Expirience..........2005-09-11
A Very nice experience for those who love roller coasters with explanation of the "fun" idea. You'll find here some of the best roller coaster in the world and even experience a little feeling like being on theme for real :)

Media Tech for Students and ahem Older Community.......2004-05-13
Just saw this on video from library and ordered DVD from Amazon. The best media experiences lately both entertain and educate, if subtly. Think back to "Back to the Future" which Michael J. Fox described as "a comedy-action-fantasy-adventure-coming-of-age film", and "a very life-affirming story about relationships, as well as a 'what if?' movie which audiences love"
I rate "Thrill Ride" high because of its value to "edutain" high school students I am working with who are interested in media technology. I am a volunteer looking for ways to clarify to them WHAT "media technology" is, HOW it connects to their school classes, and HOW graduating will help them make good careers and community impact.
It's tough keeping the connection between school and real life present in kid's experience and this film is a great way to connect "marketable skills" with "academics". It shows LOTS of rides and still shows how roller coaster design, combat flight simulators, and hollywood film making combined to make the current thrill rides.
Any teacher worth their salt (and I am married to one) can make the connections between the film and their academic subjects, including: (AND IF YOU THINK THIS IS A LONG LIST, IT'S WHAT MY HIGH SCHOOL KIDS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR COMPLETING TO GRADUATE!) English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Computers, Graphics, Photography, Health, World Languages, Arts, Speech, and Technology.
For those of us who are ahem older it also reminds us how much has evolved in a few short years from old amusement park rides to new.
The kids I am working with have been taught more and more by volunteers about real-life connections. This has raised their desire to 90% to: 1. Complete high school with a full load of academics, and 2. Go on to 2 or 4 year colleges. This is good for their future and good for us as parents and community!
Fabulous Movie.......2003-07-23
This is a fabulous IMAX movie about Motion Simulators. It would be of great interest to those who do 3D Computer Graphics programming, and looking for some great project idea for their course.
An uninteresting disappointment.......2003-02-27
Thrill Ride The Science of Fun is a movie made for the IMAX theater, focusing on thrill rides. This is a boring, uninteresting film that gives a one-sided view of today's thrill rides. The producers of Thrill Ride think that the only type of thrill rides available today are motion simulators, and they are convinced that simulators are able to live up to real thrill rides, and may someday be the only type of thrill ride available. 32 out of 40 minutes are spent covering simulator rides. Unfortunately, this film was made in 1997, and a lot of new technology has since come on the market, leaving older, relatively low-tech attractions on this film. I am not one who enjoys motion simulators most of the time. This film spends a lot of time explaining how high-tech and very good quality computer-generated images are created and used. Of course, in 1997 technology was not that advanced, so the images they're talking about lack the realism of today's CGI. 5 minutes is spent on explaining how simulators for full size airplanes and jets work. I want thrill rides, not airplane sims! A portion of the film is hosted by a crazy old farmer/miner whose accent, attitude, and antics are completely unentertaining. The majority of thrill rides are roller coasters, not simulators, yet this film spends only 8 minutes on coasters and droptowers. Included are POV footage on Kumba and Montu, and Big Shot droptower in Las Vegas, as well as some rare footage from the old movie "This is Cinerama" featuring the defunct wood coaster from New York's defunct Rockaway Playland. Unfortunately, especially in the case of Cinerama, the entire ride is not shown, only a portion. I really wanted to see more of the Cinerama coaster, considering how it is impossible to ride it in reality. This video gets one point for two reasons. First, the minute or two of Cinerama POV footage was interesting (just not long enough). Second, the video offers a behind-the-scenes look at Back To The Future, the ride, from Universal Studios. This was also interesting. Unfortunately, about 80% of this video is sleep-inducing and uninteresting. All in all, I do not recommend buying Thrill Ride - it is a boring disappointment.

A Slight Shadow of the Book.......2007-08-28
It wasn't a terrible movie, in fact parts of it where amusing. But having read all three of the books in the Treasure Seekers' series (The Treasure Seekers, The Wouldbegoods, The Return of the Treasure Seekers) I can attest that the movie just isn't the same. The father is turned into an inventor, trying to sell his refrigeration device and save his family financially. Dick does not exist, neither does the Indian uncle. Dora is portrayed as being almost sixteen and even Oswald may have been cast to old. The three youngest siblings are alright though. Eliza, the made is simply huge and does a good job as well. One of things that made the books funny was the naration of Oswald, this element is also lost in the movie. So go ahead and watch it, but read the books to get the real E. Nesbit.
Nothing like the book!.......2007-05-26
Yet again, the film making industry has utterly demolished a great story! Read the book. It's a great family book about the Bastable family, and the children do have many adventures attempting to "restore the fallen fortunes of the House of Bastable", but they do not do it by lying or constantly fighting. They learn a lesson with each adventure instead.
This movie production, however, deviates so far from the book as to be ludicrous. Instead of the father being a businessman ruined by grief, he is an incompetent absent-minded inventor. The children lie. The children are disrespectful of authority. The oldest character, Dora shows teenage angst that never appeared in the book. The minor character of the authoress is turned into a feminist doctor. Why did they have to take the values of the Victorian family out and make a movie about today's societal problems?
Keira Knightly has a cameo role!.......2006-08-24
A rip-roaring family-friendly adventure, not only wonderful for children, but their parents will enjoy it too. An interesting factoid is that Keira Knightly (as a child) has a brief appearance as the mysterious princess. This scene seems totally superfluous to the plot, but it's true to the book.
Different Lifestyles Are Attainable.......2001-09-22
Captivating story with good material for showing different lifestyles attainable by choice. DVD questions for discussion are a good addition to the movie and help encourage problem-solving. Charming depiction of Victorian England with background info on DVD. "It was an exciting story. The kids were fun." "The father's invention was interesting. I didn't know it could take six years to invent something." "I liked how they talked: would you like a spot of tea?" "I would love to watch it again." Best for ages 8 to 12.

GREAT MOVIE.......2006-12-09
A mother's sacrafice to keep her children happy without them taking into consideration their mother's happiness or appreciation for her love. I enjoyed this movie.
* * * * * not for sophomores.......2006-07-14
The one star was given due to the fact that some sellers are selling the PAL version of this DVD under this heading of Region 1. Unless you can play PAL, avoid. The most notorious of these, caiman, even refuses to give a refund or an exchange for YOUR mistake in having ordered a PAL version.
The movie itself is easily five stars: * * * * *
The documentary with this movie has the producer and the screenwriter saying that Rosamunde herself approved the changes that they made in the script in bringing this novel to the screen. So, those who think they are being sophisticated by whining about the fact that the movie is different from the book are merely showing how sophomoric they are.
This is a superb movie of realistic and appealing characters, realistic and heart-rending relationships and real-life situations. That it manages to be gripping and involving in addition to all that realism is a testament to the skill of the moviemakers.
Recommended to all those who like a human/family movie.
Enjoyable yet unpretentious.......2005-10-13
Angela Lansbury does a wonderful job at protraying this character. Set in great locations that make the story more believable. No movie ever lives up to what a book can deliver in feeling and detail but this comes pretty close. I enjoyed the complex relationships between mother and children. They ring so true, using my family and other families I know as a guide. Forget those that say this is nothing like the book or give it only one or two stars. This movie does stand on it's own and the acting is great.
The Shell Seekers.......2005-09-15
I had read the book and enjoyed it. The movie followed the story line in a believable manner.
WONDERFUL! Not to be missed!.......2005-04-25
A beautiful, warm, and compelling film, THE SHELL SEEKERS is one of television's few genuine film masterpieces. Originally produced as a Hallmark Hall of Fame presentation, this absorbing and all too human drama deserves much more widespread attention.
Though it may not follow the book in every respect, it nonetheless stands on it's own. (And --please!--readers
of the book should ALLOW it to stand on it's own, as any film is meant to do, judging it on IT'S OWN merits and not against their memory of the book!)
Well written and beautifully filmed, it features outstanding performances by a well rounded cast of uniformly excellent actors, not the least of whom is star Angela Lansbury.
In a day in which grown children find it all too easy to blame their parents for every childhood shortcoming, the warmth, compassion, and uplifting message of this filmic gem can help bring healing and insight to many of today's
searching "thirtysomethings". This isn't just a movie, it's a healing and enlightening experience. It can also
bring encouragement and support to today's "sixty-somethings" who have felt the brunt of false guilt and
undeserved criticism from ungrateful offspring.
Unavailable on television or video for many years, truly this is a film not to be missed. It's a beautiful, poignant video that belongs in every family's video library.

When Andy Warhol made his prophetic comment about fame, he could not possibly have anticipated the lengths some would go to get their 15 minutes. Consider Johnny Knoxville and his posse of merry pranksters. These are America's funniest home videos, a generous and representative sampling of segments from the notorious MTV series Jackass, which capture men behaving very badly, and very stupidly. Knoxville and company are mostly content to do injury to themselves and each other (their poor and battered groins alone must be eligible for combat pay). Other segments have a demented Candid Camera quality. In one, Chris Pontius dons a werewolf suit and runs amok through London. In another, two hockey players continue their "fight" inside a store. Throwaway bits, such as the popping of a blackhead, cleanse the palate between stunts. As one observer notes: "You'd have to be an idiot to try this." Watching this, however, is another matter. And by the way, there is no volume 1; go figure. --Donald Liebenson
Description
Due to some random haggard circumstances, Volume 1 of the Jackass TV series isn't coming out anytime soon. But in the meantime here's Volume 2. Volume two of the Jackass series contains a random, haggard selection of segments and bits that aired on our crappy little television show. Remarkable moments in this half-ass collection include Chris Pontius masquerading as an American werewolf and creating panic in the streets of London, Johnny Knoxville sticking his arm right up a cow's butt, Bam Margera and Brandon Dicamillo taking the hockey gloves off and brawling in the middle of a café, Ehren McGhehey falling flat on his pink face while skateboarding blindfolded, and a bunch of other absurd stunts, pranks and queer misbehavior from our bumbling cat and crew of idiots.

It'd be better if they could use the f word........2003-07-11
Jackass is what it is. Funny stupid stunts where someone always gets hurt. MTV took Bam Margera's CKYs and Big Brother's skate videos and turned it into mainstream chaos. It is great exposure for Bam, Johnny Knoxville, Steve-o, Random Hero and the rest of the gang. The stunts and pranks are all real. And all are really funny. This is a good DVD. The only downer is the censorship. It is the exact same as the TV show. Bleeped curse words and fuzzed out nudity.
All the crazy stuff they don'y show on TV, they don't show on here either. It is still worth it. If you want movies with real crazy funny stuff that will leave you shocked and in stiches check out CKY 1-4. And Big Brother's Poop.
Laugh out loud!.......2003-03-30
If you liked the movie, you will like this (albeit tuned down) version i asume is clips from the TV show. No cursing or nudity like the movie, but so what. It's funny anyhow. Many awesome scenes. Be warned however, volume 3 stank. Stick to volume 2
Cringe-Tacular!.......2002-12-20
Finally, Jackass has come out on DVD. Although there is no Vol. 1 right now, (I don't even know if there really is a Vol. 1 or if it's just supposed to be a joke), Vol. 2 is still a great collection of some of the most outrageous, disgusting, shocking, and disturbing moments from the very popular TV show. Join Johnny Knoxville and his gang of misfits as they do some of the most idiotic things ever to be caught on tape. (But it's hilarious!)
With this collection you'll see stuff like this: The cup test, plunger wake up, the worm trick, bucket cars, red wagon, bikini wax, ice blocking, lawn trap, human bulls-eye, punt return, and many, many more wackiness and chaos.
The DVD has very few special features, but that's okay. All I wanted was the show itself. The features included are a trivia game, photo gallery, and cast bios. Yes, the swears and bleeped out and nude people are blurred out. (Funny how they will censor the swearing from the guys themselves when the music playing in the background is uncensored. Interesting.)
You'll laugh, you'll cringe.... you'll want to hurl after seeing some of the things you will witness. (One I couldn't even watch. I had to skip it. Try to figure out which one it is when you watch it.) "Jackass: Volume 2" is Jackass at its best.
Kids, don't try this at home. I'm sick of all the parents and news complaining about the show because some stupid and brainless moron decided to reenact some of the stunts. Watch it, don't live it. Okay? Okay.
Don't Expect Vol. 1 Anytime Soon...but here's 2 & 3..........2002-12-16
Jackass should win a Grammy for best TV show of the year. After seeing the movie twice, I've started watching the show (which I didn't before), and because I missed the first few seasons, this is a good way to catch some glinces of them. Not as good as the movie, but entertaining at least. GET IT!!!

This dazzling Ride begins with a bang: A terrific piece about Whistler's avalanche hunters, i.e., a team of explosives experts who begin their days blowing away potentially lethal slides before skiers hits steep slopes. Typical of Miller's films, Ride globetrots through some of the most exciting and exotic places on Earth to capture Hollywood-caliber (and often better) footage of extreme snow-sporting. Among these hot spots, so to speak, are New Zealand (where a high mountain considered holy by the Maori offers some interesting downhill challenges), the North Cascades (particularly a couple of breathtaking sites accessible only by helicopter), France (where a resort harvests ski-able snow from ice-fishing), and Breckenridge, Colorado (where snowboarders bounce along the famous Breckenridge Bumps). A highlight is a ski trip in Russia, where three Americans catch a bus through a war zone to reach, as one fellow puts it, "the top of Europe." --Tom Keogh
Description
Ride is awesome adventure snowboarding as you have never seen it! It's breathtaking adventure in spectacular locations, from the radical drops of Whistler Mountain, British Columbia, to the vertical exhilaration of skiing Russia. Share the thrills of helicopter drops into fresh powder, unimaginable inclines and heart-stopping speeds with 2002 Olympians and world-famous snowriders!

Not as good as others..........2006-10-22
If you're looking for the good old Warren Miller films, this isn't quite it. This film is where Kurt, Warren's son, starts narrating most of the films, and he's really not very good at it, especially compared to Warren. The film itself is decent, but not nearly as fun and exciting to watch as Fifty, Storm, or Cold Fusion, (or any of the older, classic Warren Miller films.) In my opinion, this is one of the weaker films in the Warren Miller collection. The narrating is bland, monotone, and quite annoying, and so is most of the music. The skiing and boarding is pretty good, but, still not up to par with other Warren Miller films. If you're planning on buying some, skip this one.
Can't learn to ski.......2005-05-18
In our opinion there is no instructional value or race footage on this DVD. I can't see how this type of product is useful to learning to ski. There are much better videos out there for ski coaches.
See Craig Kelly.......2005-01-25
Gorgeous photography, varied and exotic locations from Whistler to New Zealand to Russia. Fabulous snowboard and ski footage, as always. Craig Kelly - ironically and prophetically talks about his love for riding in BC and what it's like to have sliders (avalanches) chase him down.
There's always a jot of humor in Warren's films, and we like it and expect it even if it's corny. Amusing to see the two brothers in the flatlands who construct a monster ski jump in their back yard.
Another WOW from Warren.......2003-08-09
Unbelievable, awesome, spectacular, and incredible are just some of the words that come close to describing the breathtaking footage in this new "classic" form Warren Miller. Once again he makes you want to pack up and head for the nearest snow covered slopes, wherever in the world that might be. The scenery and cinematography is absolutely killer as is the selection of music that takes you on another dream trip through the best snowfields on earth. This film is an absolute "must own".
Loved at the theater..........2001-12-27
