What a combo! Tobe Hooper, the director of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, teamed up with family-oriented producer Steven Spielberg to make Poltergeist. The film is about a haunted suburban tract home in a development very much like the Arizona one in which Spielberg was raised. (Because it came out the same summer as Spielberg's E.T., it was tempting to see both movies as representing Spielberg's ambivalent feelings about childhood in suburbia. One was a fantasy, the other a nightmare.) Spielberg also cowrote the screenplay, which taps into primal, childlike fears of monsters under the bed, monsters in the closet, sinister clown faces, and all manner of things that go bump in the night. At first, some of the odd happenings in the house are kind of funny and amusing, but they grow gradually creepier until the film climaxes in a terrifying special-effects extravaganza when 5-year-old Carole Anne (Heather O'Rourke) is kidnapped by the spooks and held hostage in another dimension. Though not nearly as frightening as Hooper's magnum opus, or the original A Nightmare on Elm Street, which came along two years later, Poltergeist is one of the smartest and most entertaining horror pictures of its time. --Jim Emerson

Poltergeist was a good movie. I really enjoyed the speical effects in this film. I really enjoyed the part where the mom is in the pool looking for her daughter and all the skeltons pop up. I thought the last 30 minutes of the movie were nonstop excitement.

On a side note, the TV show Family Guy spoofed this movie. It was really well done and very funny.

4 out of 5 stars CLASIC!! ENOUGH SAID!.......2007-09-01

poltergeist, a very good movie. it's hard to make movies like this nowadays, so when it happens it's good to hear, but here's a movie that's old skool horror. a battle between good and evil. an innocent family on unholy ground. a little girl lured in by evil, parents must fight to get her back. this film has been around for a very long time and it's still scaring strong.

I've loved this movie ever since I saw it in the theatres. It's creepy without being gross or vulgar. Spoilers ahead, so if you've not seen the movie, stop here. I love the way it starts out slow, with just a few minor creepy details, such as sliding across the kitchen floor, or the "TV people". Who could ever forget the creepy tree or clown (YIKES!)? Then it picks up with the disappearance of Carol-Ann. Who could forget the classic lines, "There, here!" and, "Go into the light, Carol-Ann."? Also, how many scary movies are out there that are well-done where no one dies? "Watcher in the Woods" is another great example of creepy without vulgarity or death. The sequels are cheesy, leave out the character of Dana (the actress was murdered after this movie was made), and betray the plotline of this movie. So, as far as I'm concerned, this was the only poltergeist movie. This movie's timeless, and the special effects are still good by today's standards. Nice effects without CGI; well-done indeed.

5 out of 5 stars Still scares me to this day, a classic!.......2007-07-10

Poltergeist is still one of the great '80s horror flicks. Directed by Tobe Hooper and produced by Steven Spielberg, Poltergeist still lives up to the hype 25 years later. I love this movie, it's still enjoyable, witty, and creepy as hell. If you never seen this film then boy you are missing out on a real treat. Buy this gem today!

"Do ya wanna party?" challenges the soundtrack to this freaky and funny reworking of George Romero's Night of the Living Dead. Paced to the beat of a pounding rock score, this comic flesh feast delivers both laughs and outlandish gore. No longer lumbering, moaning creatures, these lithe, feral, and cunning undead claw their way out of the cemetery and into the skulls of a human smorgasbord. They even master the art of home delivery: "Send more cops," croaks a corpse into a patrol car radio. Director Dan O'Bannon even takes pains to explain their motivation between the tributes to the granddaddy of zombie horrors ("Well, it worked in the movie!" screams James Karen when a pickax to the skull hardly phases a lively cadaver). Not that it really matters amid the gore and gallows humor, but it does add a kick to the cynically sinister climax. --Sean Axmaker

this soundtrack is just as awesome as the movie. i especially love "make love til we die". if you love the movie, you'll love the soundtrack!

5 out of 5 stars BRAAAAIIIIINS!!!!!!.......2007-07-03

Oh my lord, I watch this movie once a week. It's so bad!!!!! I am so in love though. I love the cheese factor, it is by far my favorite 80's horror movie. The make-up is so weak, but there's 3 awesome looking zombies in it. You'll laugh a lot, I promise. The acting is just as horrible as the zombie make-up. The special effects will make your bladder bust from laughing so hard. Yay, I think I'll go watch it now.

4 out of 5 stars Classic funny scary movie.......2007-06-27

You can nearly anticipate everything happening in this movie, but its still a good one to see. The makeup and effects are no where near as good as they are today, but still this is one worth watching.

5 out of 5 stars Great.......2007-06-17

This is definitely among the best five horror films made in the 80's. It isn't really the best at anything: there are certainly movies with more gore, more scares, more comedy, even more nudity. But this film pulls everything together very well, has ample gore, scares, etc., and most importantly produces a very good atmosphere for everything to happen in. From beginning to end, the atmosphere and sets of this movie are great for the horror genre, and the tension keeps building throughout the movie. (though Tarman--played by Allan Trautman--was certainly a very high point in the middle).

I never really bought Matthews and Randolph (Freddy and Tina) as people that would hang out with punk-loving... well... punks. But apart from that small issue, the characters are great. Gulager, Calfa, and Karen, (Burt, Ernie, Frank) all give mature, straight performances, which provides a great foundation for the horror elements to be built on. The other actors also fill their rules well--not that there are deep character explorations here, but the characters are certainly good for a horror flick. Quigley and Venturini (Trash and Suicide) in particular come across well, though I think the whole cast holds it own well enough. Maybe two exceptions would be Terry (the Colonel) and his wife, whose performances I thought were lacking, though they were both very short.

This film had a lot of memorable lines, and a lot of memorable gags, as well. The split dog, the pickaxe to the back of the head, the captured female zombie, the request for more paramedics... lots of stuff here that is not just good, but also memorable. O'Bannon also enjoyed cramming scenes with all sorts of stuff in the background, to make the scenes at once more believable and more interesting. Some of the jokes in the film are also sort of comical, like having two friends named Burt and Ernie in a horror film (and one is a mortician).

Definitely a movie that any horror fan should see. And even if you don't really like horror films, you still might want to give it a shot.

Clint Eastwood (the Man with No Name) is good, Lee Van Cleef (Angel Eyes Sentenza) is bad, and Eli Wallach (Tuco Benedito Pacifico Juan Maria Ramirez) is ugly in the final chapter of Sergio Leone's trilogy of spaghetti westerns (the first two were A Fistful of Dollars and For a Few Dollars More). In this sweeping film, the characters form treacherous alliances in a ruthless quest for Confederate gold. Leone is sometimes underrated as a director, but the excellent resolution on this digital video disc should enhance appreciation of his considerable photographic talent and gorgeous widescreen compositions. Ennio Morricone's jokey score is justifiably famous.

Description

By far the most ambitious, unflinchingly graphic and stylistically influential western ever mounted, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is an engrossing actioner shot through with a volatile mix of myth and realism. Clint Eastwood returns as the "Man With No Name," this time teaming with two gunslingers (Eli Wallach and Lee Van Cleef) to pursue a cache of $200,000and letting no one, not even warring factions in a civil war, stand in their way. From sun-drenched panoramas to bold, hard close-ups, exceptional camera work captures the beauty and cruelty of the barren landscape andthe hardened characters who stride unwaveringly through it. Forging a vibrant and yet detached style of action that had not been seen before, and has never been matched since, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly shatters the western mold in true Clint Eastwood style.

5 out of 5 stars More than Quality..........2007-08-30

I finally sat down to watch the new Good the Bad and the Ugly DVD with the extended scenes, etc. I haven't seen it in awhile and really got into it. This has got to be hands down (at least for me) the best western ever made. Every little detail of this movie emulates Sergio Leone's absolute brilliance. He finally got his big budget on this film and he totally makes the most of it.

The movie is definitely carried first and foremost by its characters. Obviously, Eastwood as Blonde, who is like the coolest cat you have ever scene in your life, dripping out classic lines such as,

"Such ingratitude after all the times I've saved your life",

".....Idiots......it's for you...".

and

"Were you gonna die alone?"

Van Cleef who Leone basically plucked out of TV obscurity to come star in two of the spaghetti westerns, was perfectly evil...

Eli Wallch who could have easily won an academy award for this role as the shady bandit, Tuco. Despite his overall sense of humor and seemingly good heart at times, Tuco cannot help being bad when it comes to greed, especially in terms of money. Just when you think towards the end that Blonde and Tuco are really even (dare I say) friends, greed gets the better of Tuco when he takes off in the horse for the money in the cemetary. Blonde calmly walks out of the abandoned church and as cool as a cucumber fires a couple of cannonballs at the fleeing Tuco. ---Classic. Sergio Leone slowly pans in for a close up of Blonde's cigar as it lights the cannon....with the theme song starting to play in the background....this is AWESOME.

Leone's artistic vision in this western is unprecedented to say the least. Every scene contains a scent of authenticity to it---from the awesome costumes that look worn and frayed, to the dirty finger nails, to the blown out buildings and abandoned churches. The cemetary scene in the end is simply phenomenal. You couldn't pick out a better location with a better feel! And then, we can't forget the actual actors themselves! You talk about ugly scarred up dudes! The flies hovering over their lips as they speak in broken Italian (dubbed in English almost comically at times). Another thing I love about Leone is the constant creativity he has with the lense. As Tuco is digging in the grave towards the end of the movie, you see Blonde's shadow creep up into the scene and a shovel is tossed at Tuco from off camera with Blonde saying, "It'll be a lot easier with that". Leone seemed to love the mystery he gave audiences with characters talking off screen or off the view of the camera. Even in one of the opening scenes where a few other bounty hunters capture Tuco and say, "Hey amigo, you know you have a face beautiful enough to be worth 2,000 dollars?" At which, Blonde repies (off camera) "Yeah. But you don't look like the ones who'll collect it." Then you show various shots of Blonde (but only from behind--lighting his cigar, or else his trigger finger---never his actual face)----it's awesome.

I found the new extended scenes to be interesting because it gave some more detail to the story. The negatives were that they for some reason needed to redub all the voices in the new scenes (including Tuco's, Blonde's, and Angel Eyes). They actually got a 99 year old Eli Wallach to use to dub his own character...and it's almost comical in the sense that in the new scenes Tuco sounds like......well......a crackling old shrieking guy. They got some other guy to mimic Blonde's voice as well. I don't understand why they needed to do this. As far as I could tell Eastwood was still speaking English in those extended scenes...

When Quentin Tarrantino says that he feels that The Good the Bad and the Ugly is the best directed movie of all time I can totally see why. I know that is quite a bold statement and I can't even say for sure it is actually true. But I do know for sure that it DEFINITELY is the best directed western of all time hands down. From the intricate plot, the script, the characters, the authenticity of costumes, set design, etc. this movie has it all.

GREAT MOVIE

5 out of 5 stars THE GOOD,THE BAD AND THE UGLY.......2007-08-15

What's a mystery is simple. In the TRAILER..it's very clear...The ULGY..is suppose to be VAN CLEEF..&..the BAD..is ELLI WALLACH.But now go to the beginning of the movie..where they are introduce....VAN CLEEF now is refer to THE BAD...&..WALLACH..is refer to as THE UGLY.Othertwise...a great foreign western.Great Music.Super long drawn out plot...But who cares..with great American stars like..EASTWOOD,VAN CLEEF..& still around is ELI WALLACH.VAN CLEEF's kind will be truly missed. He was a great character star.

5 out of 5 stars Arche... Arche Stantin!?! Are you sure?.......2007-08-11

The Good, the Bad, and Ugly is a movie that cares nothing for critics or popularatity. This movie is based around a wonderer and bountey hunter(The Good), a heart-less bounty hunter and murderer (The Bad), and a relentless and ruthless bandit(The Ugly).

In this movie no character is good by any means; they are all bad just one has better manners. This movie is also very diffrent bacause no one speaks for much of it; however, relies on the music and facial expressions to set the tone. Might I add that this film has some of the best acting of any movie. Clint Eastwood accually has the weakest character and though is portrayed as the main character many times, he is not. Lee Van Clef play as Angel Eyes who will kill anything or anyone in his path and will sacrifice his own men for what he wants, his scenes are nothing short of awsome. Eli Waltch steals the show as Tuco and it is very debatable that he is the main character. Every scene he is in explores how complexed he is and how close to insanity he lies. The part with his brother is particully memorable. When the movie gets going its none stop; with a perfect ballance of action and suspense. One will best the other one and then the other will better that one; which is unque in that no man is better then the others but who handles better in different situations. To the point it makes the amazing story real and fresh time after time. Make the back drop the Civil War.

If your not into westerns don't be detured, this will refuse to disapoint. Imagin a film based around a muderer, a murderer, and a murdering theif; it is great like Pulp Fiction. It's in reality what Terantino looked at when directing. The formula is simular to pulp fiction in that no one is good and it ends with the climaxing scene. The ending scene is a climax that rivals any film. The only one that competes in my opinion is Casablanca. The music score is just simply beautiful, simply the best arond.

The movie with the deleted scenes runs 3 hours, but time will fly bye like a 2 hours. By the end it will expand what stereo types are a western. Truely an astromicly incrediness film. One of three of my personally favorite movie of all time. Astounding.

5 out of 5 stars awesome western!.......2007-08-01

The theme song to this movie still sends chills down my spine! This gritty tale was one of several that set the bar for great westerns. Clint Eastwood didn't have to be muscle bound or loud to be a convincing 'tough hombre'. And of course, who could forget the wicked 'Angel Eyes'? The movie also incorporates some of the horrors of the Civil War era while we focus on the quest for hidden gold. Who will get to the cached gold in the graveyard first?

Chrissy K. McVay - Author

5 out of 5 stars Best western ever.......2007-07-14

If there a better western movie has ever been made, I've missed it. I would praise "High Noon," *The Ox Bow Incident," "True Grit" "Lonesome Dove" (the TV mini-series)--but they don't measure up to this spaghetti western. It is odd that Hollywood, with the West in the studios' back lots and plenty of real cowboys to choose from, couldn't make a movie as good as this one, directed by an Italian and shot in Andalucia Spain.

The plot is episodic, but what episodes they are--Eli Wallach defending himself successfully while sitting in a bubble bath, Angel Eyes reporting to the man who hired him as a killer, a pointless Civil War battle over a bridge, etc., etc. The plot finally settles on the attempt to recover some $200,000 in gold, buried in a cemetery. One man knows the name of the cemetery, but not the grave. The other knows the name on the grave marker, but not the location of the cemetery. The finale is a work of art.

The atmosphere is magnificent, the sparsest, dryest land this side of the Taklamakan Desert, miserable hovels, ramshackle towns, horse flies that buzz and land on faces, manure--in a word, reality--so real one can see and hear and almost smell it.

The non-featured characters are perfect, many of whom were not actors at all, but Spanish and Italian peasants. There is one actor with no legs, who crawls into a saloon and shouts, "Hand me down a whiskey." Hollywood would never have done that. Clint Eastwood is fine but mostly silent; his six gun does the talking for him. Lee Van Cleef is likewise fine, an evil looking armed man with no conscience or pity. But the real star is Eli Wallach, a little Mexican thief, liar, sadist, joker who is intent upon staying alive. He should have received several Academy Awards for his performance--one wouldn't have sufficed.

Most westerns are just horse chases and random gunplay, with maybe a song here and there. The same old stories were told over and over. Not so with this movie. If anyone out there remotely likes westerns and hasn't seen "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly," you're in for a rare pleasure.

We can hardly imagine how shocking this film was when it first broke into the film scene in 1968. There's never been anything quite like it again, though there have been numerous pale imitations. Part of the terror lies in the fact that it is shot in such a raw and unadorned fashion that it feels like a home movie, and is all the more authentic because of that. It draws us into its world gradually, content to establish a merely spooky atmosphere before leading us through a horrifically logical progression that we hardly could have anticipated. The story is simple: Radiation from a fallen satellite has caused the dead to walk, and hunger for human flesh. Once bitten, you become one of them. And the only way to kill one is by a shot or blow to the head. We follow a group holed up in a small farmhouse who are trying to fend off the inevitable onslaught of the dead. The tension between the members of this unstable, makeshift community drives the film. Night of the Living Dead establishes savagery as a necessary condition of life. Marked by fatality and a grim humor, the film gnaws through to the bone, then proceeds on to the marrow. --Jim Gay

George Romero's classic 1968 zombie-fest (shot in black and white) offers some disturbing images, even decades later. In a Pittsburgh suburb people are being stalked by zombies ravenous for human flesh. In a house whose occupant has already been slain, two separate groups of people unite and board themselves in, hoping to fend off the advancing ghouls. Through radio and TV reports they learn that radiation from outer space is thought to be responsible for the wave of zombie attacks all over the eastern United States. Once the humans are trapped, Romero shifts the focus to the internal feuding between them as they decide how to handle their dreadful situation. What unfolds is an examination of human nature, and of the fear and selfishness that keep many citizens from getting involved in the world's problems. Appropriately, both the zombies and the authorities who later hunt them are equally soulless. This film could also be read as a criticism of white males--it is not merely a coincidence that the film's two most rational, constructive characters are a woman and a black man. It is also no coincidence that the sequel takes place in a mall infested by the undead--a perfect analogy for consumer culture. --Bryan Reeseman

This is the movie that turned me into an obssesed horror fan. My friend told me about it and let me borrow it and I had no idea this movie would effect me the way it did. Ever since Iv'e been trying to get my hands on any old/underground horror flick I could find. At the beginning of the movie I was thinking "oh god, this is going to suck" and by the end I was convinced that this was one of the best horror films ever made.(*Spoilers*)The idea of somebody making a movie where a little girl eats her mother in 1968 was unbelievable to me. The extremely ironic ending was the icing on the cake and IMO is one of the best endings in horror history. My favorite in the "dead" trilogy by far.

When I first seen this colored version on Amazon I thought it was a disgrace(this movie is made to be watched in B&W and should be watched that way for the first time)but when I realized it contained both versions I had to have it. The commentary is pretty annoying and very insulting to fans of the movie(its done by the guy from "mystery science theater" and he doesn't take the movie seriously at all,it really pisses me off)but if your a fan of the movie and always thought "I wonder what color barbara's shirt is,what color is the car" ect.,ect. I highly recommend this version. If you've never seen this movie I still recommend this version but WATCH THE B&W VERSION FIRST, I repeat WATCH THE B&W VERSION FIRST, its the way it was meant to be seen for the first time.

Description

A true cult classic - and one of the scariest movies of all time. The dead are walking, and hunger for human flesh. A group of panicked survivors are barricaded in a deserted farmhouse while the army of flesh-eating zombies hovers outside their door.

Now experience the bone-chilling terror in color for the first time on DVD. With a 5.1 surround sound remix, and a hilarious commentary track by Mike Nelson, this is the most fun you'll ever have with the living dead.

5 out of 5 stars "Night of the Living Dead (1968) ... George A. Romero ... 20th Century Fox (2004)".......2007-09-17

20th Century Fox presents "NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD" (Released: 1 October 1968) (96 mins) (Fully Restored/Dolby Digitally Remastered) --- now in COLOR and Glorious Black and White --- Night of the Living Dead is a seminal 1968 black-and-white independent horror film directed by George A. Romero --- Early drafts of the script were titled Monster Flick, but it was known as Night of Anubis and Night of the Flesh Eaters during production --- The film stars Duane Jones as Ben and Judith O'Dea as Barbra --- The plot revolves around the mysterious reanimation of the dead and the efforts of Ben, Barbra and five others to survive the night while trapped in a rural Pennsylvania farmhouse.

Under George A. Romero (Director / Screenwriter / Short Story Author / Cinematographer / Editor), Karl Hardman (Producer / Makeup), Russ Streiner (Producer), John A. Russo (Screenwriter), Vincent Survinski (Production Designer), Marilyn Eastman (Makeup), Tony Pantanello (Special Effects), Regis Survinski (Special Effects) - - - - The story line and plot, Zombies represent a slow moving enemy --- It is easy to escape them, just watch out for your own mistakes, as the zombies will capitalize on them --- One of the best aspects of this film is the lead character, as director Romero presents an intelligent non stereotypical black actor in this cult favorite ---. this is one of the best horror films ever. Romero's direction is outstanding --- His ability to take a small budget and turn it into a stratospherically giant film is unparalleled.

the cast includes:
Duane Jones - Ben
Judith O'Dea - Barbara
Karl Hardman - Harry
Marilyn Eastman - Helen
Keith Wayne - Tom
Judith Ridley - Judy
Kyra Schon - Karen
Russ Streiner - Johnny
George A. Romero - Washington Reporter
John A. Russo - Zombie in House (uncredited) / Washington Military Aide
Charles Craig - Newscaster
Rossie Harris
Bill Hinzman - Cemetery Zombie
John Simpson

Romero produced the film on the small budget of $114,000, but after a decade of theatrical re-releases it had grossed an estimated $12 million in the United States and $30 million internationally --- Night of the Living Dead was strongly criticized at the time of its release for its graphic content, but three decades later the Library of Congress entered it into the United States National Film Registry with other films deemed "historically, culturally or aesthetically important."

The culture of Vietnam-era America had a tremendous impact on the film --- It is so thoroughly laden with critiques of late-1960s American society that one historian described the film as "subversive on many levels." --- While not the first zombie film made, Night of the Living Dead influenced countless films and is perhaps the defining influence on the modern pop-culture zombie archetype --- The film is the first of five Dead films (completed or pending) directed by Romero --- It has been remade twice, in 1990 and in 2006.

5 out of 5 stars The Zombie Crunch.......2007-08-06

Okay, I finally reached the mountaintop, the mecca of horror, the zombie garden of Eden, the Brady Bunch of brutality...

It's the story
of some lovely ladies
who were hiding with
some very lovely guys
All of them were f&%#in' scared
and missed their mother
the youngest one will cry

It's the story
of some f%#@in' zombies
who were busy
with appetites of their own
They were once men
dead and buried
now they scream and moan

Till the one day
when the zombies smelled these people
and they knew it was much more
than just lunch
That the undead must get into that farmhouse
That's the way they all
became the zombie crunch

The zombie crunch

Okay sorry, I'm jacking around with this review, but I assure you this movie is no joke. It does have a level of humor, ("they're coming for you Barbara!") but it's a far cry from Shaun of the Dead. It shows some extremely brutal scenes, zombies devouring human flesh and a young girl zombie getting crazy with a shovel. The ending is also a disturbing suprise, especially for a film made in "68.

My horror collection feels more respectable now that I've added this to it! The gorehound led me to gory glory.

If you think of A Fistful of Dollars and For a Few Dollars More as the tasty appetizers in Sergio Leone's celebrated "Dollars" trilogy of Italian "Spaghetti" Westerns, then The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly is a lavish full-course feast. Readily identified by the popular themes of its innovative score by Ennio Morricone (one of the bestselling soundtracks of all time), this cinematic milestone eclipsed its influential predecessors with a $1.2 million budget (considered extravagant in the mid-1960s), greater production values to accommodate Leone's epic vision of greed and betrayal, and a three-hour running time for its wide-ranging plot about the titular trio of mercenaries ("Good" Blondie played by rising star Clint Eastwood, "Bad" Angel Eyes played by Lee Van Cleef, and "Ugly" Tuco played by Eli Wallach) in a ruthless Civil War-era quest for $200,000 worth of buried Confederate gold. Virtually all of Leone's stylistic attributes can be found here in full fruition, from the constant inclusion of Roman Catholic iconography to a climactic circular shoot-out, along with Leone's trademark use of surreal landscapes, brilliant widescreen compositions and extreme close-ups of actors so intimate that they burn into the viewer's memory. And while some Leone fans may favor the more scaled-down action of For a Few Dollars More or the masterful grandiosity of Once Upon a Time in the West, it was The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly that cemented Leone's reputation as a world-class director with a singular vision. --Jeff Shannon

5 out of 5 stars The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.......2007-06-28

Widely considered the best of Leone's western trilogy, "Good" has also been re-mastered to pristine glory, some footage re-inserted, and lines re-dubbed by Eastwood and Wallach. Yes, the film is long, but the three stars, Leone's magic camera, and that Morricone score will hold you hostage throughout. Wallach steals it as Tuco. A spaghetti western worth its weight in gold.

"The Good, The Bad & The Ugly"

For those who may not have noticed I am a HUGE Eastwood fan, and the "Man With No Name" trilogy ranks for me, among my very favorites. I have an older(real old) edition of this DVD. It's a single disc that was probably the first to come out. Although the widescreen picture is sharp and clear with nice color, the sound at the time, was not a big improvement from VHS. It was low and at times the dubbing was off quite a bit.The sound was enough to make me take a star off my original review of that edition. It also had some skimpy features of some excellent footage of deleted scenes and some production notes. So this being one of the few movies, that extra features would be important to me and may make me shell out a few more bucks, I decided to have a look at this "2 disc Collectors Edition", available for pre-order.Why was I not surprised to find that once again Ammy has not listed the special features that I will get if spend more for another edition of this great film? I even saw another 2 disc set available at another purchasing site here(even more expensive then this one), but alas, that had no info of the extras either on the product details. So Ammy once again I am asking PUHLEESE, let us know "what's in the box?!"

I don't really think I have to give the film review, for I'm pretty sure that anyone looking for a 2 disc edition of this film, is already a fan. But just in case there is someone out there who hasn't seen it, and also because I love to talk about this film here it is:

There's $200,000 in gold buried in a secret place. The Man with No Name, or "Blondie" as he is so affectionately called in this one(Eastwood), "Tuco"(Eli Wallach) and "Angel Eyes"(Lee Van Cleef)are all intent they they will be the one to walk away with it. Not even a little thing like the Civil War will keep them from their quest!
This is the third and final film of the "Fistful of Dollars" trilogy. It reunites Eastwood, Van Cleef(as a different character in this one), Director Sergio Leone and Ennio Morricone with another great "Spaghetti" Western and marvelous score to go with it.In this one there is also the addition of Eli Wallach who practically steals the show as "The Ugly".

"Blondie" and "Tuco" are already partners of sorts. They have a scheme going where the "Wanted" Tuco, who has a price on his head that is ever growing, is captured and brought in to hang. Blondie, always at the last second and with his sure shot, shoots the hangman's noose, the two escape and split the rewards. When these two part ways(and are done torturing each other)they each discover the other has a piece of the puzzle needed to find the gold! They must reunite to chase their prize. But Uh-oh... there is a third though who is also real interested in this gold. It is the very "Bad" "Angel Eyes". He discovers their secret, and will use any means necessary to retrieve the information and secure the loot for himself. So the three form a sort of unholy alliance, make their way through scorching deserts, Civil War battles, and betrayals to get this buried treasure. Who will be the last man standing? Who will get rich? Well You Know.......

It's a wonderfully filmed western that has everything needed to keep you involved. The camera shots and angles are incredible,Morricone has once again added a score that is a part of the story itself. There is lots of action, some terrific explosions, humor, and a great script.Eastwood, Van Cleef and Wallach will draw you in to their characters and keep you there until the final frame! It's a Western lover's Western! Oh and you will find the answer to the question I left my review of "For a Few Dollars More" with, "Where DID Clint get that wonderful poncho?"(This film is actually a prequel)

So Saddle up with Blondie..he's sooo "GOOD!" and enjoy..Laurie
