Not the best.......2007-07-06
My [..] loved the Baby Genius children's songs DVDs so I purchased this thinking it would be a hit also. This one is not the same as the others. It is mostly just animals from the zoo with a classical music score. It is pleasant to watch and listen to, but it doesn't keep their attention for very long. The kids really prefer the videos with a lot of action and other children to watch.
Baby Genius - A Trip to the San Diego Zoo - ok for maybe young children.......2007-02-26
This would maybe be ok for younger children under 1 that like to see animals, but don't expect them to sit through it, our 18 month old get's bored about 1/4 way through and is done.
Dissappointed.......2006-12-28
I agree with most of the other reviewers in that the Baby Genius series is not very educational.
The images are very good, but the rapid pace between them doesn't allow such young viewers to distinguish or enjoy them. Before my son (2 yr 4 months) can recognize an animal and begin to say what it is, the video has already moved on to another animal and/or shot.
Baby Einstein is clearly a higher quality product if you're looking for an educational video series.
If you enjoy essentially a very fast slide show of animals with orchestral music in the background, then this video series is for you.
Baby Genius - A Trip to the San Diego Zoo.......2006-12-08
My son is 19 Months and we have been watching the DVD for the last 8 Months and loving it every time. I never get tired of it and it quiets him down. He was so sick for 3 weeks and we wouldn't have gotten thru it without the DVD. The music is nice and soft so you can fall asleep to it. And it's broken up into segments - categories of animals - so I can tell him after the bears we are going to bed. He knows it so well now he will ask me to fast forward to a part he wants to see. I do wish they would show the names of all the animals on the screen because I have to say there are a few that I don't know what they are. I love it - wish there were more - trip to the Aquarium, trip to the museum.
We have a bunch of the other DVDs and he hasn't been interested in watching the other title or the Baby Einstien ones. This one is the best.
Not really impressed..........2005-12-28
I thought this DVD a bit slow, but I gave it 4 stars because my nieces really like it. This was given as a gift to my son but my boys don't care much for it. I think it just depends on what types of videos the child it's intended for enjoy. My boys like DVDs with a lot of music and singing (i.e. Blue's Clues, Veggie Tales) and this one is not for them.
My oldest son loves trips to the zoo, so this DVD might be better if it had animal noises in it as well as the music.
I think it's a fantastic concept and maybe the boys will grow to like it, but right now it seems to not interest them.
