one of the Kings best films...great restoration!.......2007-08-08

One of Elvis' very best films ( I know that's not saying much but this IS a good one)...and its been upgraded substantially by Warner Bros from the previous edition.
the bonus featurette is okay...could have been much better with more artists and less "writers" as talking heads...Russ Tamblyn was a nice addition!

an all time Rock movie classic ...and from my standpoint a must own..
black and white and widescreen print.

Everybody loves Jailhouse Rock, the third movie in the Presley filmography. It's a kicky tale about a jailbird who learns to be a rock & roll singer in prison (a plot not at all crazy by later Elvis standards). The film catches Elvis in the freshness of being the New Thing, and his rave-up to the title tune is an exultant announcement that rock and roll just bashed down the front door of popular culture.

It Happened at the World's Fair jumps ahead five years, the Elvis formula set. Location shooting at the futuristic Seattle World's Fair of 1962 lends a quirky backdrop, and check out the young Kurt Russell (future inhabitor of the Elvis persona) kicking the King in the shins. Viva Las Vegas is the other consensus classic: EP plays a race-car driver waiting tables in Sin City, sparking big time with Ann-Margret. The two stars generate some heat, and the theme song has inspired many a road trip. No such trip will be inspired by Harum Scarum, a mad comedy set in the Middle East. Elvis is kidnapped while touring, and a lame spoof of Rudolph Valentino movies ensues.

It's back to the race track for the remaining pair. Spinout places the King in the direct path of three marriage-minded women, but he prefers his car and his guitar. Dumb plot, but the songs at least are agreeably rocking. Speedway has a slimmed-down Elvis and a groovy nightclub hangout, plus the ineffable Nancy Sinatra--there's some terrific kitsch value in this one. --Robert Horton

Shouldn't review this product. I remember the movies from when I was young and beautiful and in love with Elvis. I'm 72 now and wanted to have the movies I saw way back when to have forever.

It Happened at the World's Fair is my favorite movie starring Elvis Presley. It took me a long time to collect this particular movie. The other movies in this collection are very good.

With King Creole, Love Me Tender and Stay Away Joe - JAILHOUSE ROCK 1957 is Elvis Presley at his best. He declined the old musical tradition of MGM and insisted on a contemparary look - especially how the choreography should be executed.

In this film we see ELVIS PRESLEY at his very best. He was a stunning actor - much more prefer HIM to James Dean... It`s a shame he made more or less 33 forgettable films.... only a handful stands out and JAILHOUSE ROCK is the best. It isn`t a classic - it isn`t even great. But we have ELVIS - the KING - and that`s the best there is:-)))

This 1957 release directed by Richard Thorpe is most often cited as Elvis's best film, and rightly so. It certainly feels closest to Elvis's own story and persona, as Hollywood had yet to sully the King's talent with an endless string of brainless, cotton candy movies. The film's trim hard edge and Elvis's restrained performance give us a vivid glimpse of this rock icon in his early prime, before fame and commercialism obscured his gift. Terrific tunes abound, and don't miss the memorable title song sequence, which Elvis choreographed himself. Long live the King.

I was born in 1943. Elvis was about 4 years beyond my age; but my oldest brother loved him as well as my best girlfriend's sister. She kissed his photo everyday. Her lipstick imprinted lip marks were on his 36'x36' photograph on her bedroom door

When i was watching "True Love", my favorite Brad Bitt movie, I realized I needed to review Elvis Presely. " Jailhouse Rock "was the recommended movie in "True Love", so I purchased it and "Viva Las Vegas", (I remembered Ann Margaret as the only female actress strong enough to act against Elvis Presely).

Let me tell you - "Jailhouse Rock" seals Elvis' fame as the superstar of rock. He is completely without ego - totally full of humor, entertainment and presence. He is eternal youth and beauty incarnate.

"Jailhouse Rock" also has a good story line. I remember the times, and the sets and costumes are true. "Viva Las Vegas" is frosting on the cake.

It has great dramatic appeal and is best remembered for its great songs, and for scenes that typify the Presley personality. If you don't know much about THE KING you'll fall in love and if you are a fan then...your heart will beat faster, you will have butterflies flying around in your stomach and you'll remember how it felt the first time you saw and heard THE GREAT Elvis Presley!!! Fourteen years into his carrier and Elvis is looking Sizzling!!!
What an outstanding DVD and music selection, it is indeed THE BEST OF ELVIS!!! All his brilliant songs that touched our hearts are right here. This is a MUST HAVE for all the Elvis fans out there.
I LOOOOOOOOOVE this DVD, It has now became my favorite, much better than "Elvis-One night with you".
It's an import and the menu is in Portuguese but so easy to navigate a two year old can do it, and with 29 Best Songs it is SOOOOOO WORTH IT!!!
