The video was OKAY. My daughter wasn't interested or amused after the first few minutes. If your'e really looking for a great sing and dance vidoes to keep your infant/toddler excited try The Lauri Berkner Band.

I just love this band! My 2 1/2 year old daughter and I dance around and sing to this dvd every day. I love that they use instruments you don't hear every day. I love that their music is upbeat and happy and very eclectic. I love that this video is simple and not a huge production but mostly I love that these people seem to really enjoy making music together. That energy reaches out and grabs you. We can't wait until Dan Zanes and Friends tour our town!

Unfortunatley I bought this for my 2 yr old nephew, and he does not like it at all. My sister said he walked away from it 1/2 way thru a song, she said it was too hippyish . I heard this guy Dan Zanes was great. Still have not listened to it myself. Maybe my nephew is just to active for this.

The concert and videos are not visually appealing for the young ones. The image quality and footage of concert is a VERY small step above amateur. If your child is a fan of the colorful Dan Zanes videos on TV, this video is not the same.

My 2 1/2 yr. old loves to dance around to this video and I enjoy watching it with her. It's a little bit hip (so you don't feel like you are watching Barney) but still kid friendly.

My children wore out our VHS copy in the late 80's. Every niece and nephew was given a copy and it played non-stop for every family "reunion" vacation we had for 8 straight years. Everyone(their parents, older siblings and the kids) love the music, the story and the characters. I was so happy to see that I could buy it for my 1st grandbaby! Well it's official, he loves it too, and my daughters were so excited to sit and watch it again, and again. It contiues to be a happy memory for our family. In this season of my life I am blessed to have "extra" funds, so now I can afford to get Sillyville, too! I can't wait to see it with my grandbaby!

We got this tape for our first when she was 3 years old, some years ago. I think she (and her parents) watched it a couple of hundred times! This year, our younger one, also 3, has taken to it, just as her big sister once did (and she too is enjoying watching it all over again).
From an adult point of view, it is a bit hokey at first(I had a hard time keeping a straight face listening to the "Dutch" Girl). But it captivates you over time, and we came to realize that this is a real class-act of a children's video; very much an overlooked classic. Absolutely the best, a must for every DVD shelf.

I loved these wee sing videos as a kid, but now they're even better. They're the best stimulation ever to watch with friends and trip to!!! Everyone needs these videos, so does every teenager or college kid. Very entertaining, colorful, musical, hilarious....Check it out.

This 30 minute DVD is a little gem, filled with Christmas songs from many of the classic Christmas specials, all with the words on the bottom of the screen. I enjoy it, and my 3 1/2 year old does too. Plus, I love these types of shows playing in the background when we have company over during the holiday season (like the Disney Christmas Sing Along and the like) since the children enjoy them and adults to too.

Not So Favorite Sing-a-Longs.......2007-05-12
This DVD is terrible! Don't confuse it with Favorite Nursery Rhymes, which my 11 month old granddaughter loves (and has loved since 6 months). The animation is cheap looking and cheesy and most of the songs are annoying and uninteresting. Most of us could write better lyrics! If my granddaughter enjoyed it I would continue to suffer through it, but she watched this video with a scowl on her face.

My 11 month old LOVES IT! She claps at all of the songs and tries to sing along. She seems more interested in this one with the characters than the others. I would recommend it! This is my put it in when she is being difficult DVD to get her in a better mood, which has worked every time.

I was not really impressed with the newer DVD offered by Baby Genius. It was more animated that the previous ones. My 18-month old son prefers to watch the Childrens Song and Nursery Rhyme DVD over this one. He really enjoys seeing the children more than the characters. If this had been the first DVD we purchased, I probably wouldn't have purchased any more. All in all, it was a so-so DVD for children, but like I said the other DVD's were much better presented.

Great memories.......2007-04-06
I got this for my Dad for Valentine's Day and it was a great time to watch it again. Such was Jim Henson's fame for family and children entertainment that if the request came to you to be on Sesame Street or even The Muppet Show, it was really a simple choice.
The special is really not meant for children but rather for adults, since most of the guests are ones children are not familiar with. It's also fun to see people like Ralph Nader and Barbara Walters poking fun and getting poked in return.
The entire show is fantastic, but the best two clips are "Put Down the Duckie" and Seiji Ozawa's conducting the Muppet Orchestra in "Pretty Great Performances....he really is a good sport. Overall, a excellent tribute to the Classic Sesame Street and to Jim Henson.

Many of these DVD's I dread putting in. Not this one! I love every minute of it. I truly enjoy the humor and the "old" sketches. It takes me back. I actually enjoy sitting with my son AND watching the DVD. Unlike many others...you won't be disappointed.

I just got this in the mail today. I was thrilled and excited to put it in, especially after all the great reviews.
One word to sum it up: eh.
The first few minutes of the DVD is all introductory stuff. Almost like you're watching the previews waiting for it to start, but it's part of the video. So that made it even shorter than the description because it was just people talking. Not really many characters.
The Put Down the Duckie song gets 2 stars. The rest of the footage doesn't even get any stars. Yes there are a few random old-school skits. But when I say a few, I mean VERY few. Like, 2? And I would think they could have chosen better ones...
I watched the whole thing, sort of with out emotion, and then it abruptly was over. And you're watching like "It's OVER? That's IT?"
If it was longer, or less money, I would have given it more stars. But for $12, there was definitely not enough quality footage and not nearly enough material to make it worth it.
I am sorry I bought this.

As others have pointed out, this DVD looks like nothing so much as a very badly shot home movie, starring the camera operator's family members in various costumes that look like they came out of the dress-up box. The music is equally dreadful, consisting of incredibly cheesy, karaoke/lounge singer-like versions of old nursery rhymes and songs. This is by far the worst DVD I have ever wasted good money on for our toddler. He stared at it for a few moments, and then ignored it. When we asked him if he would like to watch it again (in spite of how ghastly it was - we wanted to get some use out of it) he told us in no uncertain terms that he did not like it, which was a great relief to be honest. Please don't waste your money. You can play dress-ups and make your own amateurish home video for less cash, and you'll probably get a lot more enjoyment out of doing so.

While I agree that the video is brutal, my 3-year-old daughter LOVES LOVES LOVES it! She has never been a TV watcher, but this video absolutely enthralls her. She sits and watches it with the biggest smile on her face. She hops like a frog with the kids, she does the eensy-weensy spider, and she jumps over the candlestick like Jack. Mommies, our kid are who they are. We may not understand why they like what they do, but we need to support them in their interests. So-pop in this DVD, sit back, and enjoy this seriously low-budget production with a sense of humor.

If I could select negative stars I would!! This movie has brought shame to the entire children's movie industry. Even though the DVD case gives a clean, well-produced, educational video impression, DO NOT be so easily fooled!! The movie appears to be a collection of home videos of a group of kids who had a little too much of extra time on their hands. The children in the video do not even interact with the song playing over the audio; they do not dance to it on rhyme or even sing along with it. During story time, the story is read over the audio, but the 'storyteller' in the movie just moves her lips clearly not actually reading the story. As other reviewers have brought up, the face paint was too scary and looked out of place. I am horrified that I even purchased this video and I STRONGLY urge you to refrain from making the same mistake I did!!!

Worst kid's DVD I have ever seen. I could only make it through a few songs before ejecting it and throwing it in the trash. Poorly made (think home video camera) and as another reviewer said, the face painting is a little scary.

Video footage looks like it's from someone's home videos. Face painting is a little scary too. Audio is above average but has little coordination with video footage. Kid's may actually watch it a couple times but parents will be not happy with this video.
