If you like to have close contact to your partner and still don't want to miss the energy of swing then Shag is the dance for you. Mostly danced in closed position, but also with open and separating elements, Shag can be danced to medium- and fast-tempo music.

Shag spread all over America and different styles were popular in different regions. This video is about the Double Time Shag that was often referred to as Collegiate Shag. It should not be confused with Carolina Shag or St. Louis Shag. Even though it was a separate dance, Shag can be easily mixed with other Swing styles.

This DVD holds the two titles Collegiate Shag 1 and Collegiate Shag 2.

You don't need to have any experience in Shag dancing. Collegiate Shag 1 starts right at the beginning and builds up to an intermediate level. You will learn the most typical steps that form the character of Shag and obtain a large enough collection of moves so you won't get bored doing the basic over and over.

Collegiate Shag 2 builds upon the material of Collegiate Shag 1. You will learn more footwork variations and more patterns to have more variety and more fun dancing Shag. Let Marcus & Bärbl show you that there is much more to Shag than first meets the eye.
