4 out of 5 stars Good Short Video.......2007-08-03

I tried this video for the first time in my 23rd week after having not exercised consistently for several months. I'm not new to yoga but this video was challenging and just the right length. Although I would have enjoyed more ambiance(calming music, interesting scenery), I felt very good and stretched out afterward. Most importantly, I felt like I got my money's worth.

1 out of 5 stars Not Enjoyable at all.......2007-06-14

I have many workout videos and bought three for pregnancy. This one I would not recommend. It is not a comfortable enjoyable workout, you are upside down most of the time and when you are pregnant that is not a good position and it makes it hard to enjoy the workout. Also my new DVD came with Sara's voice going at a high rate of speed, it is weird and annoying. I would however, recommend Leisa Hart's Fit Mama prenatal workout for fun salsa dancing cardio and yoga segments as well as stretches and relaxation. And Quick Fix Pre Natal workout, which is three 10 minute workouts, so you can do them anytime, even when you don't have much time or energy!

5 out of 5 stars the best prenatal yoga.......2007-06-04

My compliments to Sara Holliday's. This is the best prenatal yoga dvd that I found so far. And I'm actually so happy with it that I stoped looking for any others. Sarah gives you a 30 mins of very relaxing yoga. Her voice is beautifuly soothing and the natural setting are so wonderful. First she works out the upper body, stretching shoulders and relaxing all the shoulder/neck area where the tension sets. After she concentrates on the lower body part, working lots with the harmstrings, stretching and strenghtening those muscles. She encourages everyone to follow its own rythm, to follow everyone's breath and their own pace during the asanas (yoga postures). I love that the workout takes 30 mins as it can perfectly fit into most people's schedule. Sum up, you will strech, strenghten and relax all your pregnant body :). I highly recommend this DVD to any pregnant woman. Thanks Sara!

4 out of 5 stars great length, good work-out.......2007-05-25

I got this dvd the day I hit my 3rd trimester. I didn't pay enough attention to realize that there was an actual 3rd trimester dvd (which I will probably now order). I enjoyed doing the work-out. I have Shiva Rea's prenatal yoga dvd as well. Sara Holliday's is much shorter and I feel like I've worked a lot harder. I have 2 little ones to chase while pregnant with my 3rd, so anything longer than this is too long for me to get thru. I was surprised at how long some of the positions were held, but of course I'm further along than most users would be, so it's a little more challenging for me. I do recommend this work-out.

5 out of 5 stars Short and Effective.......2007-05-08

I love this DVD because I can do it in the morning before work. It's short enough and easy enough to do at 5:30 AM. I would not advise doing this DVD while pregnant with a full stomach. That's why I prefer this in the morning on an empty stomach.

With World War II coming to an end, what will Amazonian Diana Prince (Lynda Carter) do for Wonder Woman's second season? Sporting the biggest continuity jump in TV history, Wonder Woman's new network (now on CBS from ABC) decided to catapult the show 35 years into the future into "modern day" Los Angeles, 1977. Not surprisingly, the 35 years haven't aged the immortal one bit. In fact, she seems to have gotten stronger, her super powers have increased, and her mind is sharper and focused on fighting the evils of the modern world: nuclear weapons, terrorists, aliens, and the mind controlling influences of rock music. Season 2 kicks off with the awesome hour-and-a-half season premiere, "The Return of Wonder Woman." Returning once again from Paradise Island, Diana Prince (a.k.a. Wonder Woman) teams up this time with former colleague Major Steve Trevor's son (still played by Lyle Waggoner) to protect humankind and to keep Paradise Island hidden from the free world. In the 21 episodes that follow, Wonder Woman will take on a nuclear facility planning to build near Paradise Island, a mad scientist plotting against the super heroine with telekinesis, mind-stealing aliens from outer space, an evil toymaker's demented androids, and a rock star(Martin Mull?!) who is using hypnosis to control the minds of his fans. In this new millennium, Wonder Woman may seem a bit cheesy to some, but to others this show and Lynda Carter represent the pinnacle of '70s television culture. Wonder Woman: The Complete Second Season is a completely satisfying guilty pleasure for those who want to indulge. --Rob Bracco

Description

What's Wonder Woman up to now? Flash forward 35 years from her stirring Season-One adventures defending America in World War II. Without missing a beat, Wonder Woman leaps from the big-band era to the disco decade, still miraculously young and still using wits, wiles and astonishing powers to fight evil. Season Two (21 episodes following a feature-length season premiere) introduces Wonder Woman to a new America of nuclear power and computers. Teamed with Steve Trevor, son of the dashing major she worked with during World War II, she takes the name Diana Prince - and takes on all kinds of danger from terrorists, mad geniuses, crooks and even a diabolical rock star while working for America's Inter-Agency Defense Command. Wonder Woman, we're proud you're on our side!

5 out of 5 stars Hello!?! Lynda Carter! Duh!.......2007-08-25

I watched these as a kid and *wanted* to be just like her. I haven't watched them again yet, am waiting for a "sick day" so I can gorge myself on Wonder Woman! Women kicking butt - makes my day, everytime!

4 out of 5 stars comic book character come to life.......2007-07-10

I liked the first season the best, but this one is still entertaining. The first season seemed more realistic. This one has some episodes that really go way out there, but is overall still good. Note that the setting, time period, and cast are different now. Other than that, Wonder Woman is still her wonderful self.

5 out of 5 stars The Second Season of Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman.......2007-03-04

Just as beautiful and gorgeous as ever Lynda Carter returns for her second season as the gorgeous Wonder Woman. However the times and years have changed since we last saw Wonder Woman. When season one ended Wonder Woman played the immortal role of Diana Prince the secretary to Major Steve Trevor. Now it's the year of 1977 and Dina Prince is back home on Paradise Island. While standing on a hill side Diana and one of her sisters hears what sounds like an airplane in distress. She tells her sister to go tell everyone including her mother that the plane is going to land on Paradise Island. When Diana goes on the airplane she fines all the passengers unconscious. As she checks on everyone she discovers a man that looks like Steve Trevor. Along with her mother Diana fines out that the man is indeed a second generation Steve Trevor from his grandfather who Diana saved during World War 2. Diana tells her mother that she must return back to the outside world as Wonder Woman. First her mother said no but after a vote by the other Island Women she changes her mine. So after another contest Diana returns to the real world as Diana Prince aka Wonder Woman. Her mother while Steve is unconscious her mother programs him that Diana Prince is his new assistant and he will remember this when he arrives at his destination. So with that the second season of Wonder Woman is off and running. Lynda Carter is one of the most beautiful and gorgeous lady to ever walk this earth and she was the actress in her time. Here's a list of all the episodes that are on the Second Season of Wonder Woman

Disc 1: Side A - The Return of Wonder Woman; Anschluss '77; The Man Who Could Move the World Side B - The Bermuda Triangle Crisis; Knockout; The Pied Piper.

Disc 2: Side A - The Queen and the Thief; I Do, I Do; The Man Who Made Volcanoes Side B - Mind Stealers from Outer Space - 1; Mind Stealers from Outer Space - 2; The Deadly Toys

Disc 3: Side A - Light-Fingered Lady; Screaming Javelin; Diana's Disappearing Act Side B - Death in Disguise; I.R.A.C. Is Missing; Flight to Oblivion

Disc 4: Side A - Seance of Terror; The Man Who Wouldn't Tell Side B - The Girl from Ilandia; The Murderous Missile + Special Feature Documentary

5 out of 5 stars Wonder Woman-Second Season.......2007-01-16

I purchased this as a gift for a friend. She absolutely loves it! She has already watched it over and over. This season is set in modern times, not World War II era like the first season. Younger audiences can relate to this one better, I believe. Lynda Carter is a great role model and this is a good, clean, wholesome show. I highly recommend this series.

4 out of 5 stars Wonder Woman season 2.......2007-01-12

The picture qaulity is very good for a series from the 70's.

5 out of 5 stars Smart, melodramatic noir movie!.......2006-03-28

"The Second Woman" is an interesting early psychological thriller. For its time, it was probably ground-breaking. The biggest problem for modern viewers is that so many other films and TV shows have used this same plot to similar effect, but just based on age, this one is probably the film many of them are ripping off! Robert Young is effective as Jeff Cohalan, a man who lost his love in a tragic wreck for which he blames himself. When mysterious "accidents" begin happening around him, is he the target of someone's malice, or the victim of subconscious "self-punishment". Most of those who know him think the latter, but Ellen Foster (Betsy Drake) believes in Jeff despite the seeming evidence against him.

It all comes to a climax designed to keep the viewer guessing until the end. Is Jeff the victim, the perpetrator, or both?

"The Second Woman" is a good ride. Recommended.

2 out of 5 stars Noirish Melodrama fails to thrill.......2005-09-11

Robert Young plays Jeff Cohalan, an architect who may or may not have caused the death of his bride-to-be several months ago. Now, as he becomes involved with a young woman staying nearby, strange "accidents" begin to plague his life ... is Jeff subconsciously "punishing" himself over his feelings of guilt, or is something more sinister going on?

Unfortunately, the outcome of the mystery is rather routine, the romance aspect of the plot is rather unconvincing, and though the film isn't exactly dull, it's not half the fun it could have been.

Alpha's DVD is about average for them (which is to say pretty poor by anyone else's standards). The picture is watchable, not too dark, but there are numerous instances of print damage and vertical lines appear on the right side of the picture for long periods of the film. Sound quality is again poor, but bearable. It's low and rather muffled throughout the film, and once or twice the dialogue drops out completely for a second, but after a while you get used to it. For the cheap price I paid, I didn't mind the sub-standard DVD quality too much - the movie is still watchable.

5 out of 5 stars The Second Woman.......2000-11-05

A taut, well acted film noire. Robert Young gives a fine performance, as an architect haunted by the death of his fiancee in a car accident. Betsy Drake is charming and effective as the friend who helps him solve a series of "accidents" which are destroying everything he loves, including, perhaps, himself.

3 out of 5 stars Nicollete Sheridan stars in this flick!.......2005-08-10

A woman is murdered and the woman that receives her eyes in a transplant has visions of what happened and decides to solve the case and help the dead woman's family get justice. Nicolette is hot so I didn't mind it, the story was okay.

1 out of 5 stars Look who is the star.......2005-07-13

Nicollete Sheridan is the star, that should tell you something right off. This is a poor, B-rate thriller about a woman who has visions of a murder after and eye transplant. Nothing here is special or scary and the acting is second rate

    1 out of 5 stars Un-original........2005-07-02

This movie is a rip-off of THE EYE and BODY PARTS.

Desprete Housewives star is Desperate for a better role and only the desprete enough to follow her career will be despret enough to WANT to see it.

    3 out of 5 stars Not Bad...very interesting plot..........2005-06-02

So why the 3 stars...well, this film was pretty good, had a least one big name star in the cast, but it did seem a bit "Monday Night Movie-ish" but that is ok. This appears to be one of those movies that you do not hear a lot of...if anything!! The story was interesting, and it did keep me interested in what it had to offer. Not a bad effort in the least!

3 out of 5 stars Not too bad.......2005-05-30

I think this movie is an okay choice if you run out mega movies to watch. Don't expect too much though. It looks like something you'll find on A&E channel.

The movie is about this woman who had a cornea transplant from a dead donor and she ended up seeing how this donor was killed. From then on you can pretty much guess the rest of the story.

So the plot is average. Acting has its good moments for a B movie but it got worse towards the end. Editing, script, sound, camera, special effects are nothing to speak about.

AND IT'S NOT A CREEPY movie as the name suggested.. just so you know.

As I said, rent it only if you have nothing good to watch.

Margarethe von Trotta, the most audible female voice of the New German Cinema, had acted for film, written screenplays, and even codirected (The Lost Honor of Katrina Blum with her former husband Volker Schlondorff) before finally embarking on her first solo project in 1977. The Second Awakening of Christa Klages, based on the true story of a social worker who robs a bank to fund a failing day-care center, is an uncompromising work that tackles politics and social issues with a radical fervor and feminist perspective unseen in the work of her contemporaries. Tina Engel plays Christina, a militant revolutionary who becomes a fugitive hunted as much for her politics as her crime, while the young woman she held hostage tries to track her down for her own personal reasons. Von Trotta brings an impassioned intensity to Christina's voyage of self-discovery, which pulls the film through slow passages, blunt political messages, and an occasionally clumsy style, creating a dramatically powerful work that builds to a climactic epiphany at the film's mesmerizing conclusion. After this remarkable debut, von Trotta built on her work in her stylistically assured second film, Sisters, or the Balance of Happiness. Be forewarned that the poor print source results in a muddy-looking tape well below the quality of most commercial tapes. --Sean Axmaker

        Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Three Very Different Crime Films Represent 3 Decades........2005-08-24

Compiled as "Cinema's Dark Side Collection", these three films span from pre-War to post-War Hollywood, each film bearing hallmarks of its time. They have in common a vague connection to film noir that gets a little stronger with each film, and Harry M. Popkin produced 2 of them at United Artists. They're all crime films, but the role that crime plays in the narratives varies. "They Made Me a Criminal" (1939) concerns a man wrongly accused, a theme that would later be associated with film noir, but this film is a low-rent morality tale. "Impact" (1949) was made at the height of the film noir movement and features a femme fatale. "The Second Woman" (1951) is psychological thriller/romance. John Garfield and Helen Walker are memorable in roles that typified their onscreen personas, but otherwise there is nothing special about the films. They are most interesting compared to one another, as characteristic of middle quality Hollywood filmmaking of their eras.

The prints of the films are unrestored. "They Made Me a Criminal" and "The Second Woman" are plagued with small black and white lines and specks. "The Second Woman" also has a couple of momentary interruptions in the picture. And the sound needs cleaning up on both films. But they are still quite watchable. "Impact" is in better shape. The specks are minor, and the sound is ok. There are no bonus features on the disc except chapter selections. No subtitles.

"They Made Me a Criminal" (1939) was John Garfield's follow-up to his Hollywood breakthrough in 1938's "Four Daughters". Garfield plays a boxer and flawed but endearing tough guy, a role which he would play again to great acclaim in 1947's "Body and Soul". Johnnie Bradfield (John Garfield) is brutal in the ring but known for being straight-laced outside of it. He preaches against booze, womanizing and for respecting your mother every chance he gets. But it's all an act, "a line for suckers". Partying in his apartment after winning the World Championship, Johnnie lets his secret slip in the presence of reporter Charles Magee (John Ridgely). His manager (Robert Gleckler) breaks a bottle over Magee's head to prevent him from writing the story and accidentally kills the man. Johnnie is blamed for the death. Realizing that he has lost the life he loved and will lose the one he has if he is caught, Johnnie changes his name and heads west. He takes employment at an Arizona ranch run by elderly woman for reform school boys from New York. But Johnnie is more corrupt than the young delinquents, and they may end up reforming him. The collection of urban criminal youth, the "Dead End" kids, places this film firmly in the Depression era. It's a mediocre morality tale that warns against the consequences of drinking and preaches that all will turn out well for those who place the welfare of others before themselves. But there is no denying John Garfield's charisma. (1 hour 30 minutes) 3 stars.

"The Second Woman" (1951) is unusual in that it includes a brief female voice-over narration. Its heavy, psychoanalytic themes recall the popularity of Freud in the 1940s and presage the criminal psychology of the 1960s. As the film opens, Jeff Cohalan (Robert Young) has attempted suicide while staying at the home of his neighbor and girlfriend Ellen Foster (Betsy Drake). Ellen recalls the events of the past few months in flashback, beginning with how she met Jeff while they were traveling on the same train. Ever since Jeff's fiancée Vivian died in an automobile accident on the night before their wedding a year earlier, strange things have been happening that have caused Jeff to doubt his sanity. Objects in his home break mysteriously. His animals are injured. Files disappear at the architectural firm where he works for Vivian's father Ben Sheppard (Henry O'Neill). Ellen doesn't believe the mishaps are accidental or the result of bad luck, and she is determined to investigate. But Dr. Hartley (Morris Carnovsky) warns her against getting involved with Jeff, whom he believes may be paranoiac and responsible for the accidents himself. "The Second Woman" is a competent mystery, but it suffers for the blandness of the main characters, Ellen and Jeff. (1 hour 30 minutes) 3 ½ stars.

"Impact" (1949) opens with this explanation: "Impact: The force with which two lives come together. Sometimes for good. Sometimes for evil." Walter Williams (Brian Donlevy) is a bold businessman and top production man at Universal Motors. He has wealth, a lovely San Francisco apartment, and a stylish wife whom he adores. His wife Irene (Helen Walker) is supposed to accompany him on a business trip to Denver but excuses herself with a toothache. She asks Walter to give her cousin Jim Torrence (Tony Barrett) a lift to Denver instead. Walter obliges, and Torrence tries to kill him with a lug wrench and rolls him down a cliff. Hurt and angry when he figures out that his wife set him up for murder, Walter settles in a small town in Idaho and takes a job working for a pretty young widow, Marsha Peters (Ella Raines). Meanwhile, a clever but unassuming police Lieutenant Quincy (Charles Coburn) suspects that Irene may not be innocent in the matter of her husband's apparent death. "Impact" starts out film noir, turns to small town idyll, and ends up courtroom drama. It's strength is Helen Walker's vicious performance and the film's unpredictability. It is thematically confused -which could be a good thing- touting the virtues of small town wisdom, and especially women, over city slickers, but then almost taking it back. It looks like Walter's cynicism and disillusionment with doing the right thing will lose out to Marsha's naïve morality -but maybe not. I was amused by some obvious product placements, which I haven't noticed before in films of the 1940s: "Bekin Van & Storage Co." and "Pabst Blue Ribbon". Maybe it worked. They're both still in business. (1 hour 50 minutes) 4 stars.

5 out of 5 stars Rediscovered film noir gems.......2000-11-20

"Impact" and "The Second Woman" are excellent examples of the kind of quality programmers that Hollywood seemed to churn out effortlessly in its golden age. Both have clever, tight plotting, well-written dialogue and fine acting. Neither director is much remembered these days, but on the evidence here they deserve reassessment. "They Made Me a Criminal" is solid too, but not really a film noir and not as interesting as the other two. The quality of the prints on this triple-feature DVD is surprisingly good, and the whole package is an amazing bargain.
