THE FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER: Audio Commentary by Director Roger Corman Original Theatrical Trailer THE PIT AND THE PENDULUM: Rare Prologue
Customer Reviews:
VINCENT PRICE ....... GENIUS .......2007-08-28
YES, THATS WHAT I SAID GENIUS . PRICE BRINGS SO MUCH ENERGY AND FUN TO THESE TWO INCREDIBLY MOODY AND ATMOSPHERIC CLASSICS IT WOULD BE CRIMINAL NOT TO BUY THIS PACKAGE . THESE TWO FILMS SHOWCASE NOT ONLY A BRAND OF HORROR RARELY SEEN THESE DAY ( EXCEPTION TIM BURTONS SLEEPY HOLLOW )OMINOUS AND CREEPY, BUT THEY ALSO GIVE THE FILM BUFF A GLIMPSE OF THE FANTASTIC FILMING OF MAVERICK ROGER CORMAN . I CANNOT RECOMMEND A BETTER DOUBLE FEATURE IF YOU LIKE ME ENJOY LATE NIGHT CREATURE FEATURES ON A SATURDAY NIGHT . A BARGAIN .
Side B.......2007-05-14
I love the Pit and the Pendulum, and the set is a good bargain as well as a good match. I can never get my 10 year old son to watch older movies with me. I had also tried to engage him in Poe stories in book form. But when his teacher read them in class, he finally became interested enough to see these, and he really likes Poe now.
On the DVD they place one movie on one side of the disc, and the the second movie "the Pit and the Pendulum" on the reverse side, side B. I have other movies like this and it seems to work OK. Make sure you at least "test" the DVD when it arrives, I failed to do so until too late, only to learn that the side B of my copy did not work. It was a good enough story for me to bite the bullet and buy another copy.
Great Corman double bill.......2007-02-17
The first two American International-Roger Corman Poe features on one dvd -- great idea, and fine execution. Corman's commentary is very nice to have as well. Pit and Pendulum I first saw at a drive in when I was quite young, and the movie scared the hell out of me. These films have high, for AIP, production values, and look great here. My only question is the odd "theatrical prologue" for Pit and Pendulum, which is not really explained. I do not recall seeing it on the film's first release. Still, this is a dvd I would highly recommend for Corman and AIP and gothic horror fans.
Good Spook For the Buck.......2007-02-12
The master of terror does not fail us in these tales that warp your perception of reality. The plots and twists are a good tribute to Poe who would have loved to work with Price. I highly recomend this.
2 stories, Vincent Price and Edgar Allan Poe for under $10.00.......2007-01-19
If you like old horror films these are great. The price makes them a bargain. Renting these seperately would cost about as much as buying them. I like old horror films but I can't quite give these more than 3 stars. They are good movies but just not quite 4 stars. Of course, the price easily makes up for that. I especially like Edgar Allan Poe stories. If you like to read, Amazon has the Complete Stories and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe in one book.

Excellent Box Set.......2007-08-06
Definitely worth the bread. Lots of interesting newer stuff from underground filmmakers. Most of the filmmakers are dead or in prison today for unmentionable crimes but these movies are really interesting. Check out the American Man Bites Dog and watch I Hate You. Then watch Blood Massacre. The list of interesting movies is endless because it's a killer 50 movie box set of bloody, sick and twisted stories.
Blood? You're soaking in it!.......2007-07-26
MAXIM MEDIA's "Pendulum Pictures" horror films are distributed exclusively by MILL CREEK ENTERTAINMENT. These movies are a throwback to the early '60s type of drive-in theater gorefests that were once popular with teens. If you're looking for big-budget state of the art special effects and top rank actors this series may not be right for you. Fans of murder, mayhem and maniacs will not be disappointed by this up-to-date collection, however.
To see where it all began, check out 50 MOVIE PACK: DRIVE-IN MOVIE CLASSICS from MILL CREEK ENTERTAINMENT. Many of the original slasher movies are here, in full grossed-out color!

Very poor to look at.......2007-06-19
This DVD collection is probably the worst of them all, picture quality is way too poor for DVD format, it was very grainy and dark in viewing. I wouldn't have to comment on the content.
Vicious Vixens.......2007-05-22
A collection of foreign, not even B rated movies that are disappointing at best.
Just finished Vicious Vixens.......2007-05-09
This is the fourth time I've typed out a review for this 'collection'. Maybe this time it will take.
First off there are half a dozen movies in this collection. None of them are over three stars. Three of them are soft porn and one of the worst jobs I've ever imagined. Example: One move has two toy dolls having sex with each other and nothing but that. Example: The first hour of one movie is five females adlibing for over an hour--and they're not any good at it.
Here are the names:
FROM VENUS; 2 stars. Clean movie.
SANDY HOOK'S LINGERIE PARTY MASSACRE: Soft porn with the five females.
NIGHTMARE MUSEUM: 0 star. The dolls.
RAPE IS A CIRCLE; 0 star. Soft porn. Would have been drama if not for the first hour of porn.
SO MORT IT BE: 3 stars. Horror, the two guys can act, some originalitly.
SORORITY BABES IN THE DANCE-A-THON OF DEATH: 2 stars-fairly clean.
So that's it, I don't recommend the collection but if you can find those 'okay' movies individually they are an okay way to kill a boring night. BYE!

More of a tomb of boredom than terror.......2007-07-29
This is not one of those fun 50 Movie Pack Sets that are part public domain treasures/part OK to good older films and hidden treasures/part bottom of the barrel. Even in the bottom of the barrel material, though, you can usually find some stuff that is so bad that it is good. Unlike the Mill Creek 50 Movie Packs, the films in this package have all been produced since 1990, and more than half of them have been made in the last four years with more than a few films produced in 2006. That's record time for material to be shuffled off to a cheap public domain movie pack, and for good reason. Some of the films in this pack have some interesting psychological angles, but the majority of them are just poorly acted bloodbaths, or in many cases they are just plain boring. I would list the films with their stars, but I can't find one of them with an actor or actress or a director I have ever even heard of. My advice is, this year for Halloween, stick with the 50 Movie Horror and Sci-Fi packs from Mill Creek. There's certainly some junk in them, but there is also plenty of good campy fun and some films that are pretty good for their genre that just slipped into the public domain for no good reason other than just the passing of time or the bankruptcy of the studio that made them. I'm not saying there is nothing of any value here. I'm just saying that you can do better for your money. The following is a list of the included films and their years of production:

MAXIM MEDIA's "Pendulum Pictures" horror films are distributed exclusively by MILL CREEK ENTERTAINMENT. If you're looking for big-budget state of the art special effects and top rank actors this series may not be right for you. More wicked, wanton, witchy women (including barely legal lesbian vampires) can be found on the BRUTAL BLOODSUCKERS 6 MOVIE PACK. Watch these and you'll be sure to say, "fangs for the mammaries."

Guilty Low Budget Pleasure.......2006-03-08
Great collection of totally indie low budget horror. And we're talking LOW budget. Get out the handycam and call your cousins to be in a movie budget but alot of fun to watch. I laughed until I cried. My fav? "Cutting Room". Lots of little nods to past horror flicks as well as a cameo from the King of low budget indie himself...Mr. Lloyd Kauffman. The more I watch this one, the more I love it. Definitely will become a cult classic.

A waste of a perfectly good disc!.......2007-09-13
Folks, this helped me gain free shipping on my order! Don't bother buying it for entertainment however, the movies won't hold your attention any better than the average commercial! A total waste!
Hostile Hauntings is Hauntingly Horrible!.......2007-08-24
Absolutely bad, bad, bad. Acting is bad - plots are bad! DO NOT BUY THIS MOVIE!!
One of The Worst.......2007-08-06
Instead of Hostile Hauntings, these movies should have been called "Hostile Acting" The lighting was terrible. I could barely hear with my television set to very loud. The best of the worst was Hellbound-Book of the Dead, followed by The River: Legend of LaLlorona. The story and acting in those two were worth watching----provided one could not be entertained by a blank screen. The best thing about these dvds was the price. The worst thing was everything esle. This is definately not one I will be keeping. If producers of any movie cannot at a minimum get the lighting and sound right, then wait until you have enough money to do so. And for buyer's sake, if you are going to use your friends for your movies, make sure they can act. Some of these "movies" made no sense whatsoever. It is amazing what the cover and blog of a dvd will do. That is what made me buy it. Watching it is what will make me throw it away. Do not rent, Do not buy. Go with your first instincts. If the price is too low for a dvd-it is not worth watching. You are right. I boought it for you. Trust me. I am a slasher flick/haunted house king of dvds. If you need an extra case, this is for you. If you need a good movie, try "Do You Wanna Know a Secret?". Six for the price of one. I will take the one if the story is good, the acting is ok, the soundtrack-one can hear and the lighitng is well, lit.
H.P LOVECRAFT IS EXCELLENT!.......2007-05-31
THESE 6 MOVIES ARE REALLY OUT THERE!THEY'RE SO WEIRD,AND STRANGE,BUT THEY'RE ALL EXCELLENT!THEY'RE ALL UNIQUE IN THEIR OWN WAY.BECAUSE THEY ALL ARE REALLY ODD-THAT'S WHAT MAKES THEM SO FASCINATING!I'VE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THESE MOVIES BEFORE-EXCEPT MASTERS OF HORROR.I'M DEFINITELY A FAN OF THESE MOVIES,AND OF H.P LOVECRAFT!MY FAVORITE MOVIE IS: THE SOMNAMBULISTS BECAUSE I'M INTO DREAMS,AND WHAT THEY MEAN,ETC.DEFINITELY GET THIS DVD AND EXPERIENCE THIS FOR YOURSELF!
Good deal. 6 for the price of 1.......2007-05-11
I liked 4 of the films on this set. "The River: Legend of La Llorona," "The Shunned House," "The Woodland Haunting," and "The Sonambulist..." although that would of made a better feature than short. But for $9.00 you can't go wrong. Some people expect the world for that price.

As opposed to "sane maniacs".......2007-04-10
MAXIM MEDIA's "Pendulum Pictures" horror films are distributed exclusively by MILL CREEK ENTERTAINMENT. These movies are a throwback to the early '60s type of drive-in theater gorefests that were once popular with teens. If you're looking for big-budget state of the art special effects and top rank actors this series may not be right for you. Murder, mayhem and madness aficionados will not be disappointed by this little collection, however.
For more bizarre Pendulum Pictures "fun," their SINISTER SOULS 6 MOVIE PACK is sure to amuse all fans of cinematic dementia...
The following program list includes 1 to 10 viewer poll ratings, original theatrical names (where indicated) year of release and principal actors for each film.
(2.8) Before I Die (2003) - Brock Richards/David Lee/M. Catherine Holseybrook
(3.5) The Crawlspace (2006) - Jason Hastings/Julian Peck/Chris Schwartz
(8.0) Drawing Blood (2005) - Robert Z'Dar/Joe Estevez/Bryan Irzyk
(???) High Desert (1993) - Edward B. Glinski/Tyleen Roberts/Ron Jason
(3.4) Matthew ("Scream Bloody Murder") (1973) - Fred Holbert/Leigh Mitchell/Robert Knox
(4.6) Mayhem Motel (2001) - Matthew Biancaniello/Lorene Scafaria/Sara Berkowitz
AWFUL.......2007-02-04
This whole collection is awful, don't waster your money. My husband and I love "b-horrors" but these collections are the worst of the worst. It looks like a junior-high film project at best and is literally shot in someone's basement. Plus unlike most other "B-horror" movies, it's just boring. Would not recommend even to "b-horror movie" lovers!
Is it worthy?.......2006-06-20
So I was bored at work, and having just watched this entire 2 disk set, I decided to divulge some more information for those of you who are apathetically looking at this DVD. And first things first- Most of the films on this disk set are completely independent productions, carrying little experience by those behind the camera. However, I was impressed to find some technically sound achievements, plot twists, and effects. In any light, the talent seems to be split down the middle with 3 worthy movies and three questionable ones. So what can you expect to find in Mental Maniacs compared to quality productions?
Before I Die- This movie follows a "Writer," who must come up with three short stories before dawn; and that about covers the entire film. The rest really isn't worth mentioning, but I'll take a crack at it. The movie opens with a poorly shot, poorly lit, poorly set-up scenario as the "writer" endlessly talks to himself until he comes up with an idea for a story. In the first tale, a rather large lady (at least by Hollywood's standards) seems to be able to seduce a great amount of young men with poor acting skills. Yet, it's the lust of another poor acting man who really wants her, yet she's not interested in her own kind. Instead she sleeps with everyone else, while this poor guy endlessly stalks her and forces himself to wait for her to become "available." Yet his lust leads him into a miscalculated situation as he finds out that this lady isn't who he thought she was. The second story; "The Last Resort" implies when you should watch this film. It's about a couple who go on a retreat to a haunted resort. The plot is slow, acting is terrible, and was basically an attempt to tie together a beautiful shooting location with soft-core visuals. Too bad they didn't do the location justice. The third story involves a woman who's captured by some crazed killer, but if I have to be honest, I wasn't really paying attention by this point in the film. Overall you've got plenty of bare butt shots, very little acting skills, little gore, poor musical composition, and dialog that were written by an elementary school graduate. It probably ties for the worst film on the set.
Crawlspace- Needless to say I wasn't expecting much from this movie, but after watching it, I was blown away when compared to the first one. It lacks the style and luster of a professional production, but reminded me of Saw on a low budget scale. This movie follows some guy who ends up trapped in a crawlspace by a psycho killer. The killer claims to be the director of a reality show, that's truly about reality; with death being a very undeniable possibility. There are no actors, and no second chances. So the main character must then complete a number of diabolically sinister random tasks, and if he completes them all at the end of the third day he is set free. Needless to say that the plot is pretty fiery and the movie keeps a thrilling pace. There was definitely a great deal of unpredictable moments. The direction could use a little bit of work though, and I found some of the camera-work to be highly rudimentary. The overall tone of the piece came across really well in the dim lighting and grainy camera picture. Although the film didn't come across as a masterpiece, the writer behind the movie is a genius. The dialog is witty and thick with suspense. The verbal battles between characters are intense, and the events as they unfold really terrifying. The concepts behind the plot get thicker and more horrid as time moves on. The characters seem alive as they become more defined, grow and change over the course of the film. I didn't understand the ending fully, but it left my imagination run wild, and was definitely a thinker movie. Overall, I must say this renewed my interest in this set and this film alone made me feel like I got my money's worth. The acting was realistic, the music was correctly set to amplify mood, the gore was present and tasteful, and the dialog was fantastic.
Drawing Blood- So now I was in a good mood, but this movie set me back a giant step. The movie's basically about an escaped mental patient who takes refuge in this one guy's basement and the hunt for him by some detectives who wish they were on Law and Order. The movie ends up being 60% soft-core and 40% soap opera. The acting is staged and the dialog seems forced. There were a few interesting parts that held my attention maybe during 2% of the entire film. There was little else to the movie, except an interesting plot twist at the very end, but entirely predictable. One thing that sticks out in my mind is the few death scenes that encompass entirely unrealistic scenarios with even more unrealistic results. I don't know if they were trying to be funny or original, but either way, it killed the movie from my standpoint. Overall, I felt that the direction was poor, tough you got your fill of bare butts and corny death scenes. The acting was in dire need of a worthy script along with the entire plot in general, unless you need something to help you get to sleep at night. The SPFX artists should go back to school along with most of the crew. The music seemed to fail when the actors needed it most, and believe me, at times they needed it. But the faults were more in the script and direction rather than in talent.
Mayhem Motel- And once again I wasn't expecting much from this film. Especially after reading the back panel that says; "expect anything from vomiting, to spanking, to stabbing..." Ok then. So what's the movie about? It took me a while to figure it out, but the plot is actually pretty tight. We follow a number of characters as they stay at this whore-house and try to fulfill their disgusting fantasies with underpaid actresses acting as hookers. It was basically a perverse indy film outlining people with sexual disabilities. The reason I liked the plot was because at times, it was interesting to see how these people would be connected and just how their night would develop in the end. But I must say that most of the dialog between characters is similar to listening in on your drunken friends at 3 a.m. And a few scenes are exaggerated beyond all reason, which will cause a high degree of wear on your fast-foreword button. Overall, the movie was middle of the road. The acting was slightly above "obviously faking it," the direction seemed to work out, the plot held together for the most part, the music was somewhat interesting, and there was a good deal of tasteless nudity. The gore was undeveloped, at best. Most of the movie was pretty perverse with toilet humor, but if you like that kind of stuff, it'd be worth watching.
High Desert- I actually skipped "Matthew" to watch this one first. I was hoping that the thin plot would make give more time for the creators to develop other areas, like dialog and direction. And it seems like they did to a degree. The film is about a crazed biker, who goes on a murderous rampage against some local campers after loosing to one of them in a few billiard games. That's what all prideful crazed bikers do when they're bored right? So he decides to go murder them all, but one of his groupies has something to say about that and tries to talk him down. Needless to say, they eventually end up shooting each other as one fights for evil and the other for good. Believe it or not, the creators actually made the plot work and seem entirely believable. The dialog wasn't anything spectacular, but I think it worked well enough. The real power came in through the acting, which actually was mid-level. The film as a whole still moved somewhat sluggish at times, but there was a good amount of tension throughout. The scenes did seem forced, but after the last movie, I gave it the benefit of the doubt. The real score was in the plot twists that proved the creator's IQ was above 75. It was coherently edited, and I'd say worth watching. Overall you get a decent movie, with decent acting, decent direction, and decent sound. The dialog could use some work, but was at least understandable. The music was haphazardly placed, but it didn't bother me too much and I kept in mind that this is an independent film. The gore came across very well and it looks like they had a trained FX artist on board, as well as some trained camera-men. Needless to say, it's a movie I would consider watching again.
Matthew- Well, I saw that this was created late 80's and I figured it had to be pretty decent, because the technology was only available to people with money back then. So I start watching only to realize that this had to be a studio production. It was entirely Hollywood material. The story follows a young boy (Matthew) who kills his father and ends up having his arm severely wounded in the process. Years later he ends up with a hook-like utensil for a hand, and he becomes entirely fixated on his mother. It draws on the lines of Psycho where mother is God in the eyes of a child. So he becomes possessive and doesn't want any men getting close to his mother. But she doesn't understand, and soon meets her maker. Matthew runs away only to fall for a prostitute, in which he would kill impress her, and kill to keep her to himself; not to mention capture her as his personal female doll. It's truly a real, complicated plot that pans out like a Hitchcockian film. In fact, if this had been released in the 60's it would've been a classic. There was a lot of good camera movements, angles, lighting and so forth. The movie sometimes really sparks your imagination and the direction is superb. The acting is B-list (by today's standards), but what you'd expect from an 80's movie. The movie is very tasteful and there is no gore where it doesn't belong. The dialog is copious and believable, and no doubt came from a talented writer. It's really a shame that this movie has been hidden in the dark for so long. The only problem with it, is that it moves at the same pace as Psycho, which is great for the first time around, but boring the second time through. Overall, it sets the mood for a classic film. The acting, dialog, direction, and editing are all classic. The story is thick and twisted leaving parts unpredictable, while others treat you with suspense as they lead to future events. The music was composed and edited in by a pro and completely rivals other productions of the same time period. The gore was space, yet fitting, and very tasteful. This film made me feel like I got a steal of a deal.
So overall, here's what I figure from worst to best;
-Before I Die
-Drawing Blood
-Mayhem Motel
-High Desert
-Crawlspace
-Matthew
You definitely will value the last two films, and those alone are worth the money. It was definitely an interesting compilation of low-talent, to high-talents, and low-budgets, to production-budgets. If you're a Psycho fan, a slasher movie fan, or just in the mood for a way to pass the time, this would be a great set to own. Just incase you were wondering.....

These ladies will take you out for a "bite" .......2007-07-27
Hey, guys... ever get the feeling that the women in your life are sucking the lifeblood right out of you? Well, you just may be right. BRUTAL BLOODSUCKERS offers several examples of vampiric vamps who will leave you positively anemic... yet begging for more!
The highlight (if that's the right word) of this set simply has to be the Lesbian Vampires. This cast is so bizarre I couldn't resist listing several names, including the film's writer/director, who plays "The Tongue." (oh my!)
For another half-dozen Pendulum Pictures fangfests, you've just gotta meet their FATAL FEMMES. These ladies will give you a hickey you'll never forget!
.
The alphabetized program list below includes 1 to 10 viewer poll ratings, original theatrical names (where applicable) year of release and principal actors for each title.
(2.0) Barely Legal Lesbian Vampires ("Barely Legal Lesbian Vampires: The Curse of Ed Wood!") (2003) - Theda Baire/Stephanie Bloode/Circe/Mr. Creepo/A. Crowley/Didi Delicious/Rubberman/Tim Swartz (as The Tongue)
(2.7) Lifeblood (2006) - Steven J. Niles/Kathryn Matuch
(2.3) Night (2006) - John Hardy/Shawn LeTang/Melanie Ginnett
(3.3) Strange Things Happen At Sundown (2003) - J. Scott Green/Masha Sapron (narrator)/Jocasta Bryan/Joseph DeVito

(2.5) Vampire Sisters (2004) - Darla Albornoz/Syn DeVil/Jeannie Michelle Jameson
I'll be brutal.......2007-02-11
This DVD has 6 movies;
Vampire Sisters
Night
Vampire Hunter
Strange Things Happen at Sundown
Lifeblood
and
Barely Legal Lesbian Vampires.
Night was okay. It's low budget but done well. It's rather straight-forward where a guy meets a vampire girl who transforms him. It deals a bit with his crossing-over into the world of vampires. There's no fangs in this film. The vampires all live in a normal house, only keeping out of the sunlight. There's a very small amount of erotic content towards the end.
However the other films are a waste of time... several of them are so bad I have to mention them here, as they detract from the package
Vampire Hunter was a complete waste of time; featuring the star in what can only be a movie of self-promotion for nobody Sean Gallimore where he shows off all the fine martial arts moves he can make. At the beginning of this film a vampire defeats a vampire hunter in very poorly done fight sequences, but then Sean Gallimore steps in to show what a man he is where others have failed. The dialogue in this is too corny. Even the vampire is afraid of the macho Sean Gallimore who again appears in a scene where he does a number of posing matrial-arts films - the whole picture is like his own personal fantasy of how tough he is.
Barely Legal Lesbian Vampires has women who aren't attractive and would only be considered 'barely legal' if the age of consent was 30. This is an attempt at a skin-flick/vampire film but with women seldom getting down to anything but their underwear it fails to arouse
Lifeblood is poorly filmed. Unless you enjoy most of the film being in darkness.

Do Not Drink and Produce, Write, Direct and Act.......2007-08-13
The only reason I give this dvd a 3 is because of "Unborn Sins". This is a decent movie and the best on the dvd. The story is good. The lighting stinks some of the time. The acting was surprisingly good, as the acting on most of these six-in-one dvds stinks beyond repair. The only other problem I had with this movie is the announcements whenever they were changing scenes-NOT GOOD FOR A MOVIE. The story had the continueum, minus the segment announcements, that good movies need from scene to scene. "The Operation", The procedure"--the political messages were clear about abortions. There was not doubt of the writers point of view. Would have been nice if both sides were presented, without one side being presented as lunacy. It is also a shame that they did not have enough money to do the lighting correctly. All in all, a very decent movie. It deserved to be on dvd by itself.
" I Dream of Dracula" was acomplete waste of time, eyesight and earsound.
Here is a tip-Do not drink and write. Drunk writing kills------time that is, but it still kills.
"Cope" was okay, but no more. The story about the family dynamics was more interesting than the aliens killing everybody or the girl loosing her mind or whatever. Nothing else to say.
"Sick [...]" was par for the course as far as most of these cheap, pointless, stupid slashem and eat their guts movies are. The murders have no ryhyme or reason. They are grotesque with poor special effects. One man's entrails looked like red spaghetti. THe Friday the 13th sequels should be a hint-murder without reason does not equal quality. The best thing for a good movie is a good script. This one did not have one.
"The Crucifier" would only make since if you have experienced with drugs. Since I haven't, I will move on.
"Dominion" would have been a good movie if this were 1975. Since it is not 1975, I will proceed to throw this dvd in the trash. Goodbye.
Lost souls.......2007-07-27
The SINISTER SOULS movie pack offers up a half-dozen excellent reasons for sleeping with the lights on for the rest of your life. These ghastly, gruesome and gory ghouls and demented demons will haunt you... maybe FOREVER! (Don't say you weren't warned...)
For more bizarre Pendulum Pictures "fun," SERIAL PSYCHOS will keep you screaming all the way to the blood bank!
.
The alphabetized program list below includes 1 to 10 viewer poll ratings, year of release and principal actors for each title.
(???) Cope (2006) - (no actor data available) A family's descent into the unknown leads to gory violence
(2.2) The Crucifier (2005) - Rocco Martone/Ryan Miller/Rachel DeGenaro
(2.4) Dominion (1992) - Carol Barta/Frank Dunlay/Auggi Alvarez
(???) I Dream of Dracula (2003) - Michellina Shafranski/Jae Mosc/Maria Bolaris
(7.0) Sick Bastard (UK-2007) - Ken Dirke/Collette Green/Amy Hill/Michael Johnson
(???) Unborn Sins (2007) - (no actor data available) An aborted fetus transforms into a horrible-looking killer out for revenge
UNBORN SINS.......2007-03-12
Unborn Sins, the third movie on this horror compilation, was worth the money I spent on this DVD. These low budget horror movies provide a few hours of entertainment, but Unborn Sins was by far the best. It had horror, comedy, karate and a great soundtrack. It was creative and thought provoking. I highly recommend this DVD for horror fans worldwide.

Not an actual review....just notes.......2007-08-30
Seriously, they are bad, I know. But I should comment that there's a difference between b-movie, and microbudgeted b-movie. In my book, no movie is bad, just underbudgeted.
I've seen million-dollar hollywood films suck just as much, which is really sad. My stars go in for effort, which nobody can understand unless they've made a film before. I've done about 35, started working with Artisan, and then Lions Gates, when Artisan was turned over. It took me about 10 films to really appreciate the dedication these low-budget retards put into the films. It starts out with a dream and a wal-mart camera, and a lot of hard work, even for a short film.
What eats me alive is that nobody cares...these ARE just kids having a good time, they are actually going for a dream, beating the odds, doing what they love, while working at burger king and driving a 1980's Honda with 180k miles, possibly attending college as well. You try to compare that with a person who has a degree, at least 6 other collaborative industry professionals (on a low-budget, up to 30 on med budget), and tons more experience, plus money for real equipment, actors, a real set and the indy guys do this for a living....the mico-film guys do this in free-time...and it takes roughly 3200 man hours to make a film of about an hour. That's filming, reshooting, editing, sound, mastering, ect...
I just don't understand why people blame the film-maker for no budget...not the budget itself. People need to give these guys credit for what it is, not what it could've been with money that they didn't have to being with.
Don't say "it looks like they just shot this in their basement," as a fault because they did shoot in their parents basement. That was the intent, and be it not to your personal liking, there is nothing wrong with that.
I challenge you to do this; take out $1,000 (that's probably the budget for these guys, maybe less) get your friends together and try to make a better film with at least 4-6 characters. It cannot be done....but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try for yourself. Send me the film when you're done and I'll be sure to tell you how good it could've been despite your hard work, your dreams, and your dedication...oh and the $2,400 extra you spent, because you got swept up in the project that was looking really good.
I'm not trying to attack anyone personally or anything, just tired of people killing off these kid's dreams. If someone had done that to me when I first started out, I probably wouldn't be here today. So a lot of kids are giving up, and some of them might be able to make some actually credible films given the means....
And six films for $6? Come on people, if you think it's not worth that, you're cheap as hell... I burn $6 at the bar in 10 mins. for one drink...that's like an hours work at minimum wage (which if your complaining, I imagine you make about that much)...you think these guys made all 6 films in one hour?
Not that it matters, but that's my 2 cents.
Jeez, sorry guys!.......2007-04-15
I enjoy B movies as much as anyone. I have purchased many of the 50 movie packs and felt like I got my money's worth, however I have to say this collection is just plain bad. I should have listened to the other reviewers (aside from the reviews by the guys who made the movies)but so often I can find something I like in spite of bad reviews. The simple fact is the plots (what plots?) are not even mediocre, the acting is horrible, some worse than others, audio is bad, and so on and so on. Out of the bunch, the only one that even comes close to a movie in my opinion is Old Man. If you are interested in paying this for something that looks like your kids typed up the screenplay in an afternoon and made it with their camcorder in the backyard, by all means proceed. If you are expecting the kind of movie you might see on Mystery Science Theater, this isn't it. I can't imagine even the MST folks sitting through these. Sorry guys, I really tried to like them.
Boring & just BAD.......2007-02-04
This whole collection is awful, don't waster your money. My husband and I love "b-horrors" but these collections are the worst of the worst. It looks like a junior-high film project at best and is literally shot in someone's basement. Plus unlike most other "B-horror" movies, it's just boring. Would not recommend even to "b-horror movie" lovers!
Avoid this micro budget disaster.......2006-10-26
Audio is weak at best for the films.
Picture quality for all films match my home video camera.
Acting is much lower than Troma (not a good thing).
Music drowns out all dialog.
I read the good reviews so I purchased the video. At $6, an average of $1 should be a good deal but it is not. Buy if you find for $1.25 or lower.
I suggest not buying anything from Pendulum.
You can't go wrong with this DVD Pack!.......2006-06-09
With "Depraved Degenerates", you get six, count'em 6, Indie horror films. You can't go wrong with the price so low! If you are into Indie Films or B-Horror, this is the DVD pack for you!
The film "Suburban Sasquatch" alone is worth the price with it's tongue-in-cheek humor, CG Special Effects and great acting from some of PA's finest local Indie actors. Then you get the other 5 movies as well! -- How can you go wrong?! I had a ball watching these films and it was so refreshing seeing six different styles of Indie Horror on 2 discs in one box. You can't even rent these movies individually cheaper than this! Not every film may be to your liking, but with 6 to choose from, I'm sure you'll soon have a favorite in there of your own!
