Awesome.......2007-08-09
Great video for teaching kids about community vehicles (firetrucks, garbage trucks, etc.) My son knows more about them than I do and spews facts to me whenever we see a truck on the road. Would recommend to anyone with little kids interested in trucks.
It is about the actor rather than the tricks.......2007-06-27
I do not show this to my grandson any more. it is more about a man who appears to be stupid, who does crazy things to try to b e funny. This is not the image of a construction worker that I want him to see. The trucks are good, though, if you can get past, "I shouldn't have done that!"
Fun and Interesting.......2007-06-05
My 3 year old boy loves this series... and I've even gleaned some interesting facts too! My daughters( 2 & 5)watch the dvds also, and it's funny and interesting enough to keep their attention, too.
Son still likes them at age 5!.......2007-06-01
We started collecting this series when my son was 2 and now have all the DVDs. Some parts are dorky, and he is generally a discerning viewer, but he has grown up with "Dave" and it has gotten us through lots of sniffly nights, long car rides and plane flights, etc. etc. And he has learned A LOT in spite of the dorkiness. Terrific videos.
IF YOU LOVE TRUCKS.......2007-05-14
my 3 year old son LOVES this video--and so does his 4 year old cousin. he is not that "into" tv in general but he loves this. he would rate it 5 stars for sure--but not loving trash truck like he does, i can only go to 4. it is informative and has a man and woman working the trucks--any child that likes truck will love.

The kids like it, but the music drives me nuts.......2007-08-17
My 2 and 4 year old daughters love the Monster Truck segment. As others have stated the production seems pretty low budget. The thing that really drives me crazy is the cheesy music. No one is credited for the music which I'm assuming means it came from the public domain. It really adds to the low budget feel. Overall, it's not bad, but not great either. Thankfully it was a gift, so it didn't cost me anything.
Great for truck fanatics!.......2007-03-22
My son is in love with monster trucks - this video has become his number one favorite video of all time. He would literally watch it 100 consecutive times if you allowed him to. This was money well spent.
Heaven for any child in love with construction vehicles.......2006-07-07
We purchased this for our son's 2nd birthday after he had seen it once on loan from a library. He absolutely loves the heavy construction equipment segment but isn't so interested in the other two segments. He literally barely blinks through the entire show. For us it is a blessing and a curse...it is our ace in the hole when we need to keep him occupied for a short time, but on the other hand he has a fit when he can't watch it over and over again! We love the fact that the video features real working equipment. It is quite educational!
Great Video for kids.......2006-07-01
Our 3-1/2 year old will watch this 24/7 if you let him. Great fun for the kids (which is nice for mom & dad too)
My 2 year likes this but ... .......2005-10-31
He'd probably watch it if it were just the monster trucks without any narration. Having seen this DVD about a dozen times in the past 48 hours since it arrived I have come to some conclusions. Before I write my opinions as a 36 year old father, let me repeat again that my 2.5 year old enjoys this video (though just the monster truck one really, the other ones seem to lose his interest). I'm sure he'd give it 4 or 5 stars, but then again he'd do the same for a camcorder recording of some nearby construction jobs. Anyways...
I find these videos strangely inspiring, in that anyone with a nice camera and a person with no acting ability willing to ham it up as a host could make a children's video. Dave does a good job being a 'real life' Homer Simpson type character, making stupid very predictable mistakes and saying 'I shouldn't have done that!' which I'm guessing is a tag line for these videos. He acts as narrator and over-enthusiastic big kid host. Other comments have hinted this isn't Dave & Becky's first video, which is unfortunate cause I thought maybe this was a pilot and they had better repetoire and 'characters' in future episodes.
Here's the thing, over the years I have made some really dumb and silly unscripted camcorder videos with friends and I recognize ad lib dialogue and 'lets make a story from the footage we have' type productions and these reek of that. I can't imagine the production costs for these videos was more than a few thousand, possibly just a few hundred, dollars. It's also is clear they spent at most a day or two shooting each segment, if not just a few hours.
This is certainly better than some free videos I've found on the net when looking for construction, motorcyle and monster truck videos (for my 2 year old), and while others have complained about Dave & Becky fighting there's no real violence (just basically falling in the mud). It's also a good combo having construction equipment, monster trucks and tanks on one DVD, and I was glad the Tank section didn't get into too much war talk. However, while this video isn't horrible, it could have been alot better. After recently viewing some of the well produced PBS series 'Modern Marvels' and other documentaries about construction equipment and trucks, this falls far short of what it could have been. Even with a target audience of kids there is no reason to do something this 'cheap' in look and feel, and it's also just 'dumb' entertainment, no real effort in trying to educate in any manner (except for occasional 20 second bits where Dave rattles off data way too fast with no context). Occasionally an off camera narrator comes in and gives an overly enthusiastic and overly brief bit of information that puts things in more context. I just think they could have made a much better 'story' that would work better in the context of the show and if they spent a few more dollars and/or hours in producing this they could have made something that would catch adults interest and challenge kids to learn more about the subjects they are covering.
I'm sure Dave & Becky are rich by now considering the number of these DVD's they've probably sold compared to the low production costs, so who am I to judge on what makes a good video? I just thought I'd write my honest opinion while these videos were fresh in my mind.
So basically, it's dumb but fun for kids. It could/should have been better but since it's target audience doesn't have a clue of the difference between something that took effort and something half-baked, it's good enough I guess. I just was hoping for more.

Farms and ranches have some of the most cool "real wheels" around! In Tractor Adventures, kids can ride along on a tractor and a farm truck, steer a herd of cattle down the ramp of a flatbed trailer, meet the animals, and see how the vehicles are used by farmers. This DVD also introduces kids to dump trucks of all shapes and sizes. Includes 3 30-minute adventures!

I learned a lot.......2007-09-09
Got this video for my 2 yr old cousin I watch. He absolutely loves it. We alternate between the episodes depending on his mood. We have both learned so much and it's great when we see the machines in person. We tell each other about the machines we see and use the video as a jumping off point to learn more about them.
Our First Real Wheels.......2007-07-23
My son got this DVD for his second birthday last month and he loves it. Since this is our first 'Real Wheels' we didn't know there was another Dave until I read the other reviews. The Dave on this one is a little goofy, but I think that is a requirement for being the host of any kids programming, isn't it? The behind-the-scenes stuff is interesting. My son especially likes when they show what the cab of a tractor looks like on the inside and the visit to the dairy farm. Overall, I think this a great kids show.
Just okay - not as good as Rockin' Wheels.......2007-03-09
I was purchasing Rockin' Wheels (the one with the train and fire truck) for my son, and the Truck Adventures came up as a combo deal with a discount if you bought them together. We borrowed the Rockin' Wheels DVD from the library and he liked it so much, I thought it would be good to have two different ones. However, the Truck Adventures is not as good, and my son doesn't even ask to watch it. The songs are lame and so is the narrator. Don't bother.
Not the 'Real' Dave, but my son loves it...........2007-02-28
We have all the real wheels dvds, and we have come to feel that Dave Hood is part of the family (since we see him just about every day). My 2 yr old loves this dvd and asks for it as often as the others. My husband and I like this one the least, because we've become so used to watching Dave Hood in these. Dave Sidoni does a decent job, but he lacks Mr. Hood's sincerity. Dave Hood really seems to love all the machines he talks about, while Dave S. seems to be just acting excited. Kids will love it, but grown-ups not so much. JMHO of course!
A little annoying at times, but my kid loves it, and its educational.......2007-01-14
My kid loves these "Dave" movies, as we call them. Dave is a goofy dude, but his movies are entertaining, especially to my 3 year old son. Aside from the goofiness, the shows are educational, and interesting - even to an old man like myself. The series consist of 'behind-the-scenes' looks at different vehicles; trains, planes, buses, etc.

These DVDs have come with us on long car trips and satisfied our little one. My son began to really get into them when he was 2 1/2 and he still loves them a year later. A great buy (and tolerable for adults too.)
