Very cutesy movie.......2007-05-05
My 2-year daughter absolutely loves this DVD!! She owns about 5 Care Bear stuffed animals, which come with a free DVD which are low quality 30-minute cartoons. This DVD, on the other hand, is a full-length movie using modern animation and it grabbed my daughter's attention immediately. The story is sugary sweet as is typical of Care Bears stories, but I think it demonstrates good lessons for children. Very appropriate for the youngest crowd. I wish there was more of a soundtrack because my daughter loves music; there are only 2 or 3 songs throughout the entire movie. OVerall, I highly recommend this item.
Didn't like this at all........2007-04-20
I only watched this movie to see how bad it would be. Unfortunately I was proved right. I absolutely loved the original care bear movies from the 80's but this was awful compared to them. To borrow an old saying: "out with the new in with the old".
loved it.......2007-03-31
hey, just wanted to say how much I enjoyed this dvd. (and i'm an adult) I know i don't have much of a life but still i recommend this dvd not just for kids but adults as well because I think the message within the movie applies to everybody not just children. It's not quite the carebears you remember from the 80's but they are still all about caring for everybody. I think we could all use that once in a while esp. now with everything that is going on in the world. don't you?
Great!.......2007-03-23
Our daughter is almost 3 and LOVES this movie! She'd watch it every day if we let her. I have nothing bad to say about this movie. Cute story, cute songs, cute characters.
best care bears.......2007-01-19
My 2-year old daughter prefers this Care Bears movie to "Joke-a-Lot," probably because this movie is all Care Bears and there are no distractions coming from other characters or creatures.
This movie is totally harmless, non-violent, and perfect fare for toddlers, plus the morals are something anyone could agree with.

The Care Bears were a line of multicolored teddy bears that racked up more than $200 million in retail sales in 1984. The Care Bears Movie was essentially a 75-minute commercial to introduce the new Care Bear Cousins, disguised as a smarmy story about sharing feelings. The film earned $23 million theatrically and ushered in a spate of cheap animated films created to sell merchandise to children. The plot interweaves the stories of Kim and Jason, two lonely orphans who have given up caring, and of Nicholas, a friendless magician's assistant who's seduced by an evil spirit. The Care Bears resolve everyone's problems. Years later, the Care Bears' popularity has waned and the film stands as a reminder of one of the less admirable uses of animation. The stars, hearts, rainbows, and saccharine songs can't disguise the barefaced commercialism behind the threadbare story. --Charles Solomon

By far the best series of the 80's!.......2007-09-08
The Care Bears tought myself (and alot of others) to always love and to care about the underdog, and how to be a better child. This series is by far THE BEST to ever come out of the eighties, with the Popples in a far second (although I love them too) I'm getting this movie for the children that I know in my life, as this is a heck of alot better than the Spongebob garbage (adult humor for kids) on tv now!
A Care Bear Hater says,"not too shabby"........2007-07-22
Ok, first off let me mention that I grew up with this stuff in the 80's, and the Care Bears have always annoyed me, as there is only room in my heart for one Bear and that's the Poo, none the less I found this first movie actually enjoyable when I watched it as it played with the whole theme of a good natured character is faced and tempted with Evil like he has never encountered before and which of course tests him to great ends!
It is stories like these, like Star Wars (classic), like the old Disney films, etc. Stories in which the comedy is not dependant upon a knowldege of the topical pop culture and "issues" of the main stream media of the time and country in which it was made. Stories in which the characters did not have to reflect Consumer Culture, Vanity, the aspiration to be a self proclaimed Diva/Princess/Brat. Stories that were very basic, very close to the human experience, to the heart, and to what makes a human...
...humn, to be quite plain and simple. Which is kind of shocking considering that this film was designed to make kids mindlessly salibate for the toys, which makes one wonder,"is it really the toys that are so appealing, the pieces of gender altering plastic, or is it the conditioning of being raised in a co-depentant, shop for happiness, the mall is the meca, consumer based families and societies?" You just got to ask yourself.
Which brings me to my second point. What is with all the bashing of this film like it is special in that it is a marketting campain for a toy? What is new? Movies have been used as adverts for products for a very very very long time, worse yet, media in general has been used not only for selling the slave labour toys and prodcuts made from "developing nations" for our children and for ourselves, but also the fact that media, musick, movies, etc. Are used to con the masses into idealogies which lead to mass murder, opression, indentured servitude, etc. Yet no one seems to be awake to this idea even though the concept is as old as the celluloid it is made upon if not older...
Besides it's like singling out that one pop singer for lip syncing on SNL and the Orange Bowl or what ever. Why single out one egg, when the whole carton is bad?!!??!?!
Again, regardless of being a marketting tool, it delivers a wholesome message, so for once in my life I will say commerciallism in this instance is far from mindless, and far from harmful nationalistic or relgious propagana, just pure, simpl fun! Highly suggested!
Too dark a movie for preschoolers.......2007-06-19
My son, who is 3 1/2, actually likes this film, even though it really scares him. He still asks for the movie, but I don't really want him to see it again. I don't like the emphasis on "Evil Spirits" and spells. I don't feel this film is appropriate for young children. It is so unnecessary to make a movie like this for little ones. My 3-year-old already has enough fears, and doesn't need to have anything else added to it.
Love it.......2007-06-03
Used to watch this movie when I was younger, loved it then and love it now. I was ecstatic to find it on dvd.
Made for commercial use, but teaches lessons.......2007-05-31
I totally agree that Amazon's review is VERY sarcastic! It's not right to degrade the movie that teaches children lessons in caring, sharing, and friendship. I watched this as a young child and remember my parents taping it for us to watch. Sure, the animation may be a little sketchy, but who doesn't love the Care Bears? They teach you lessons on friendship and that caring is not something to be forgotten. I loved the care bears and the cousins and wouldn't trade them for the world!

Customer Reviews:
The animation is so life like similar to 3D.......2007-05-16
The animation is spectacular, I wish these type of cartoons were made when I was a kid. My 19 month grand-daughter loves this video, and the music too. I'm not too sure what those "other" reviewers are talking about when they state that the graphics are scary, and wishing they made them the old-style way, to them I say "grow up with the times and enjoy, it's only a movie, and if that's your opinion be real, it's only a cartoon, you're judging waaaayyy to harshly.. I wish they made more movies like this, it looks spectacular on my 50" Toshiba that I had also bought through Amazon, saving me a great big bundle.
Care Bears - Journey to Joke-a-Lot .......2006-11-05
My granddaughter loves it.She watches it 2 to 3 times a day,Need i say more.
Don't reject the new in favor of the old!.......2006-07-18
My three year old absolutely loves both of the CGI animated Care Bear movies and we sing along to the songs together. The new soundtracks are catchy and have great messages/themes. The story line for this particular movie is appropriate, well paced (not too fast) and provides a valuable lesson--be careful how you treat others, and sensitive to other's feelings. I would strongly recommend this movie, without hesitation, even if Funshine Bear did "become" a boy...I view all of the Care Bears as sex neutral and my 3 year old is oblivious, regardless. Enjoy!
My daughter loves it!.......2006-03-22
My two year old loves those carebears, especially Journey to Joke-alot. It is funny and she loves to dance along to the songs!
I am a carebear fanatic BUT..........2006-03-15
...I will have to shoot myself if I am forced to watch this again. The animations are very annoying, the court jesterish feel is very annoying and the portrayal of Funshine Bear (my favorite) as a pre-teenaged boy jokester is NOT my idea of what carebears is about. I was NOT impressed with this movie!

This is a Care Bears The Movie II DVD. In this Care Bears The Movie II DVD, journey back in time with the Care Bears to the time when the Care Bear Cubs and Care Cousin Cubs grew to be the caring champions of the world in this sequel to the popular toy inspired animated film. Set in a summer camp, the evil Dark Heart convinces a young girl to trap the care bears and destroy goodness. But when she learns the error of her ways, she must try and reverse her own wrongdoing.
Amazon.com
When you're stuck at summer camp with no adult counselor in sight and a fiery, bellowing hurricane named Dark Heart threatens to unleash a storm of evil, it's time to reach for the nearest teddy bear. In the case of Care Bears Movie II: A New Generation, three forlorn campers enlist a whole rainbow of singing, animated bears--and Care Bear Cousins--to learn that making friends and sharing feelings are skills that define true Camp Champs.
Another visual candy dish based on that lucrative pack of American Greeting Cards characters (introduced in the 1980s), this 90-minute film extends many warm, positive messages about caring and sharing. But it suffers from a thick coating of sugary dialogue ("If you have ever cared, care now!"), gooey songs, and exhausting action. Preschool viewers deserve healthier doses of similar yet superior fare, like Dragon Tales or Bear in the Big Blue House. --Liane Thomas

Ah Memories!!!.......2007-07-16
Ah the carebears!! They bring back such wonderful memories of my childhood in the 80s. I think I owned all of the toys. What I wouldn't do to have my orignial carebears stuffed animals, cloud car, and plastic toys again!! No, I can't go into the local store and buy some new ones because they're just not the same.
Anyway, I bought this movie by accident because I was looking for my favourite carebears episode, and I believed this one was it. It's the episode about two orphaned children. One is a girl, and the other a boy. The boy gets upset for some reason and runs off into the forest where he finds Dark Heart, and the boy is changed into a monster. He lives with the other children turned monsters in Dark Hearts' castle until the day his sister arrives with the carebears and they break the spell. Sound familiar anyone????
Well, this movie is about three kids in a summer camp. A brother and sister, and a girl who wants to be Camp Champ. The girl is so frustrated with not winning Camp Champ that she runs off and meets Dark Heart in the disguise of a boy. He tricks her and says that he will make her Camp Champ, but she must do a favor for him. Hmmm? She of course takes the bargin. Later on Dark Heart says that she must repay him by making him capture the carebears.
What comes next is a weird, kinda creepy scene where Dark Heart has captured the carebears, and immortalized them in crystals hanging from his ceiling. Surprisingly two carebears escaped, and they (along with the brother and sister) come to the other carebears rescue.
I do admit it is a great childrens movie. I highly recommend that your kids watch it, instead of these silly cartoons they have out now.
REALLY messed up!.......2007-06-03
This movie is seriously messed up. The retard that made this movie really needs to admit him/herself into an asylum.
How can the Care Bear cousins be cousins of the bears when they all have the same parents?
Why does Christy risk her life to save Dark Heart even if she was reluctant to?
WHY in all the hecks do the two goody-goody two shoes Dawn and John have rhyming names?
Why was this movie made???!!!
Great Movie.......2006-12-05
Ok so this movie has flaws no movie is perfect. The 2 big flaws most people seem to bring up are:
1. Contradicts the first movie
2. Care Bears grow up too fast.
The growing up too fast never really bothered me as one can say it's just because their magical. I was really upset at first about the contradiction to the first movie but taken by itself it has a very good story. I thought the songs were really awesome, especially "The Fight Song". The lamest moment in the movie I thought was the part about the moose - but hey no movie is perfect. Taken as a whole I think the story the characters, especially Darkheart, and the awesome songs outweigh the flaws. And not to forget of course it teaches good morals. Excellent to teach kids about caring and maybe not too bad for adults either - of which I am one of them. Five stars for an excellent movie.
Care bears movie II: New Generation.......2006-11-03
There was a flaw on the DVD. It would get to a point and stop. It was a gift and 30 days would have passed before it could be returned.
Love it still!.......2006-07-19
I love this DVD! I loved it when I was little and now ( I'm a 28 year old! ) It has a great message about friends and showing love to others. The five year olds I work with for camp liked it too. One girl said as soon as it ended, "Can we watch it over again? "

Help me find a lost Care Bears movie!.......2007-09-06
When I was younger we owned "Care Bears-Alice in Wonderland"-(not sure if that is correct title), has anyone else heard of it or seen it? It was one of my favorite Care Bear movies. I can't find it anywhere! Please Help!
A Good Show .......2007-04-26
I Have read alot of reviews on the carebears show over the last few months and I can tell you that there really isn't a reason for kids to be scared of any of the episodes in this series. I am a collector and own about half of the Dvds with the Origanal episodes, all the movies including the recent new ones, and a bunch of the way origanal Dic Episodes. I have watched them all and I can tell you there is nothing on any of these discs that should really scare your children. but for those of you who might be weary of No Heart and beastly here are some discs that you can get that don't include no heart: "Journey to Joke-a-Lot", "The CareBears Big Wish Movie", and All of the Origanal Dic dvds, most of which are marked with animation station at the top of the disc above the title. I personally enjoyed The CareBears big Wish Movie. but really I think all of the shows involving the carebears are great for kids to watch, (and adults too). I guess if your child is scared easily or something I wouldn't get them the discs with no heart on them but the others are still great entertament. Oh, just to clarify, I personlly thought that this disc and all the episodes on were execellent. I recommend it to everyone who loves the carebears.
Oh Come On...........2007-04-14
We bought this Care Bears DVD for our 3 1/2 year old granddaughter to watch. There is absolutely nothing scary or evil about the Care Bears.Kiersten was not frightened of No Heart or Beastly.I've read lots of reviews on Amazon. Some people seem to find something scary or disturing on many of the kids shows today.Examples of reviews I've read include a Dora episode with a witch that some found too frightening for their kids, the movie Bambi,My Little Pony is supposedly evil too and now Care Bears.Lighten Up!!!For those interested,Adventures In Care-a-lot is 88 minutes in length with 4 episodes.I bought this from ShopKo for about $6.00.
Not At All Scary.......2006-10-25
I completely disagree with the reviewers who stated that this show features villians that would frighten young children. Even though I hadn't been born yet when these episodes were originally aired, I watched the reruns as a young child and not once did I consider No Heart to be a scary villian. And his henchmen Beastly and Shrieky were far from terrfying. In fact, they were the center of many hilarious incidents that had me laughing until my sides hurt. My sister who is three years younger than I am, watched them with me and she was never negatively affected by it and only remembers how much she loved it. This show features loveable characters, exciting adventures, and heart-warming tales of friendship. I highly recommend this show and I hope to one day watch it with my children.
And for the people who claim that this show isn't the "original" you are correct. A few years before the show thatI am reviewing aired, a tv special of sorts was released in which the Care Bears "battled" against Professor Coldheart. I believe there were at least two specials: The Land Without Feelings and The Care Bears Battle the Cold Machine.
Defending the Bears.......2006-01-28
Too many people have stated that the carebears episodes in this dvd are too scary for children. This is hardly the case. If your child is too frightened to watch the carebears, then it becomes more an issue of you smothering your child. If you think that it is too scary, and you want to keep your child from being exposed to the scary noheart, then you are going to have a lot to handle when your kid is at a sleepover when she is 8 and witnesses the nightmare on elmstreet or something for the first time. Sometimes its ok to be scared, and if you shelter them from it then you are gonna end up with a kid with major psychological issues. Carebears is good starter for a kid. Noheart may do "bad things" to the carebears, but people do a lot worse things to other people in the real world, sheltering them from a diluted version of that fact is only going to make it worse when they face the real version. You rock original carebears!

Customer Reviews:
Fantastic.......2007-09-15
Great DVD! After watching it just a few times, my daughter is now asking to use the potty. All I can say is no more diapers for us.
Got my 30 month old asking to wear underpants.......2007-09-03
I got this dvd on a whim while shopping at BABIES R US. We don't watch tv and very few videos but he was 2.5 months old and had occasionally shown interest in going to the potty so I thought this might kick him over the edge.
We watched this about half a dozen times between the span of two months. When I saw it I thought it was lame. The sound wasn't that great (we watched it on my laptop) and they skipped things like washing hands which I didn't like. But he enjoyed it from the first viewing and would have wanted to watch it two or three times in a row if I didn't refuse.
Well, I've come to really appreciate this dvd after awhile. First, it REALLY did pique his interest in wearing underpants. I gave it a try but at 2.5 years old he was having too many accidents and I stopped after two days.
Two months later (just this labor day weekend) we gave it another try when he hugged my knees just like the bear did in the dvd and asked to wear underpants again. I decided I couldn't put it off anymore. He had been asking and asking the last few weeks. So we tried it again and used the stickers and lo and behold! He did great and now, three days into it, he did a BIG poop in the toilet. He said, "I made a log poop!"
So we're on our way. Definitely a jump start to toilet training.
Secondly, this dvd does a good job of getting your kid to relate to the bear. At first, Glen the Bear loves diapers. A big fuss is made about how nice diapers are. It turned out to be a good move because my son loves diapers and also if they backslide, it's not like diapers are a bad thing.
They also show Glen counting to 5. The first time my son saw the dvd he couldn't quite count to 5. Very soon afterwards he could count to 10 and he was incredulous that Glen couldn't count to 5 easily. (How quickly they forget.) So it made him feel confident that he was as big a kid if not bigger than Glen and thus also ready to wear underpants. Ingenious.
And the songs are catchy even if my son didn't sing with it.
The dvd is a great motivation dvd. Not very detailed in everything but that's fine with me. I like him to do things a certain way and I wouldn't want the dvd teaching him to do it differently than I like so glossing over details of toilet training is fine with me. I consider it a plus.
My only concern is I don't know how well this dvd would do for girls although I'm told it's for both boys and girls. I certainly felt it slanted towards boys for which I was grateful.

Great potty training dvd. Perfect pace and message for my two-year-old. Great storybook concept. Wish it was available when I potty trained my older one. Reward stickers are great motivator.
Takes too long to get to the point!.......2007-07-09
The first 10 minutes or so talks all about how GREAT diapers are. Not good.
My son loses interest after that and tells me he wants his diapers back.
The movie is also not typical animation. It is narrated with one voice.
Not impressed - A Big Disappointment.......2007-03-07
This dvd barely worked and didn't do any good. This might be good if your potty training a boy. It is very boy oriented. They need to list it for boys and make a separate one for girls. How can a girl relate to a story about a boy potty training, they are not the same.

Care Bears will cheer you up when you are feeling down!.......2007-04-06
This is a great DVD filled with magical Care Bear adventures. Beastly and Shreeky do no disappoint in their usual roles as some of the funniest and most lovable cartoon "bad guys" of all time. Their dialogue is clever and laugh-out-loud silly. Care Bears will cheer you up when you are feeling down!
This was great!.......2007-03-17
I watched this show growing up and watching it again I still love it. These episodes were great! My favorite was "The Magic Lamp", "I wish to make my subjects even more miserable", lol. Five stars for the classic care bears.
disc won't play on our player.......2006-05-21
Plays the previews but won't bring up main menu or play the feature. A new replacement DVD did the same thing. All other DVDs play fine on our player. Have heard others report similar thing for Care Bear DVDs. I guess another reason not to give in to crass commercialism of children's entertainment.
Magical Adventures run down/review.......2005-06-08
This DVD is 88 minutes running, contains eight fun loving episodes that are cute, but also teach children lessons. It does have a few too many other dvd plug ins in the beginning that deter it from reaching five stars.

I had bought this for my daughter for halloween, but this story isnt really about halloween. its just a regular care bear episodes. its okay, but not if your child is all into halloween, so this movie isnt for them.
Mediocre.......2005-09-27
I love the Care Bears, but there's not much in this DVD to have a theme. Is a care bear ali baba scary? It was a cute complilation for someone who watched it as a child, but kids today wouldnt like it.
Care bears: Back again........2005-09-03
In the past 2 years, that the Care Bears have surfaced on DVD, I have been reliving my childhood. Carebears always have a great lesson to pass on.
My dd, almost 5 just loves them, and I have to say, I love letting her watch them.
