Amazon.com essential video
Join Ernie at The Furry Arms Hotel for a musical lesson in just how useful counting can be. When Ernie finds and returns a misplaced key, he uses his knowledge of numbers to return the key to the correct guest. As Ernie begins to learn about the hotel business, he finds many common situations in which counting is essential. Throughout the 30-minute video, Ernie and his friends help children learn to count from 1 to 20 with such songs as the jazzy "That's How the Numbers Go," an original version of the Chorus Line show tune "One," and "Rap Song #11." Favorite Sesame Street characters Elmo and The Count are joined by new characters including Ding the Dinger, a furry fellow with a bell on his head, and Benny, the bellboy that responds to Ding the Dinger's dings. Children as young as 18 months will bounce happily along with the catchy tunes and 2-year-olds will be inspired to count aloud with Ernie. Kids up to age 5 will hone their counting skills and laugh at the increasingly frustrated Benny as he delivers everything from 1 bucket of ice to 15 stampeding elephants! If you're looking for a fun video that teaches counting skills, here it is. --Tami Horiuchi

We're counting with Ernie!.......2007-09-06
My 22 month old daughter loves this dvd! It was a reward for using the potty multiple times. She absolutely loves it and loves to count going up stairs, counts her toys in her crib, counts in the car! Great investment!
does not model polite behavior.......2007-09-04
I loved Sesame street growing up, but Sesame street as a whole seems to be going downhill to me. This video, while it does have a couple of great vintage clips, models HORRIBLY rude and disobedient behavior. The bunny is extremly rude to Ernie and the Honker, and Ernie and the Honker repeatedly bother and annoy Benny, even after Benny asks them to stop (and of course, asks in a rude way). The educational value is minimal. I really don't think this helped my child to count to 15 or to recognize his numbers. If you want some good vintage Sesame STreet clips, check out the 25th anniversary. Good clips, educational value is about the same, but no rude behavior, and no disobedient behavior.
great for toddlers.......2007-08-21
it's just got heart and soul. do you want to watch a slideshow of electronic toys with Mozart soullessly sequenced on synthesized marimbas, or do you want to watch real characters singing genuinely clever lyrics teaching the same stuff.
I Can't Beleive All The Positive Reviews!.......2007-07-28
This DVD is just plain terrible. There is so much shouting and rude behaviour. In the video, Ernie continues to annoy the bunny even after the bunny has asked him to stop. This video will teach your children to be cheeky and annoying. Avoid it.
Dance and count to the beat!.......2007-07-27
My 18-month old twin boys LOVE Ernie. We found this DVD at our local library. Well, this is one video you can enjoy listening to. I also choose the 'Songs' option which is much easier for younger toddlers to follow. (Therefore, it's on the top of my purchase list)
Thumbs up!

Elmo's World - Singing, Drawing & More.......2007-07-14
My grandson likes it-not quite as much as "The Best of Elmo", but watches most of it.
pineapples do sing.......2007-04-21
Elmo's World is a really cute DVD. My little brother and sister love it! I have heard the songs so many times I sing them in my head when I'm not even watching it. If you have little kids you must buy Elmo's World! If your kids are a little older like me the craft DVD called Crafty Fun will be great for them.
GREAT!.......2007-01-30
My son loves this dvd! It's hard to find something that will grab their attention, and still be a good learning experience. This is a great dvd for your toddler.

Description
Get ready for a musical Sesame Street Muppet ® extravaganza! Something's in the air on Sesame Street that makes everyone want to sing! Elmo and Rosita break into song when they have a playdate, but can't find each other! Won't "Somebody Come and Play?" The music goes on into the night when Sesame Street stays up late to sing more songs - karaoke style. Kids of all ages can sing and dance along to renditions of such Sesame Street favorites as "ABC-DEF-GHI," "You Say Hola," "Ladybug Picnic," "New Way to Walk," "Let's Go Driving," and "People in Your Neighborhood." And the beat goes on - even with forgotten lyrics, stage fright and a broken karaoke machine! Featuring special guest performance clips by Gloria Estefan, Destiny's Child and Ben Stiller!
Customer Reviews:
A family favorite.......2007-05-14
Both of my toddlers love this DVD and my husband and I remember many songs from when we were growing up. Highly recommended.
Good, Fun Video.......2007-01-09
My 18 month-old son just loves this video and it's one that I don't hate watching over and over (and over); that's a big plus.
As usual with a Sesame Street music video, there's little or no plot. But first, I don't really expect one. Two, in this case they don't even pretend to have one (there's a short plot early on about Elmo and Rosita looking for each other) so you're not forced to sit through the usual bad plot! People getting up and singing karaoke isn't a plot. It is, however, fun.
In addition, the songs are generally quite good and include a number of Sesame Street classics such as "I've Got a New Way to Walk," "People in Your Neighborhood," and "Somebody Come and Play."
With regard to some of the criticism:
1) I have no idea why one might think that a Sesame Street DVD could be used in a karaoke machine. To the extent that I'm missing something, this person is correct. This is "only" a video DVD.
2) With regard to the person who complains that the karaoke scenes cut away from the Sesame Street characters to other scenes (either guest stars or the original SS scene in which the song aired), I must say that he has a point. However, I chose to not take away any stars because of it as it doesn't bother me or my son. Indeed, it had never even occurred to me as a possible flaw until he pointed it out.
Finally, while I've always enjoyed the potential side-benefit that Sesame Street may help teach while it entertains (and there is the occasional good lesson buried among the songs - such as it being okay to make mistakes), I never expected my child to learn precisely what he did from this video. At seventeen months my son learned to say his first four-syllable word: "karaoke."
One of the Best!.......2006-04-20
We have quite a few Sesame Street DVDs and this one is my favorite. The songs are not annoying and you might even get a few stuck in your head. My son really enjoys the singing and watching the cool "non-character" stuff that they incorporate. I would recommend this video to anyone looking for a GREAT Sesame Street DVD to own.
One you can watch over and over.......2006-02-17
This has two of my favorite Sesame Street skits from recent years, which were Elmo and Rosita's play date, and Karaoke Night at Hooper's Store. There are tons of great songs scattered in between, with several guest stars (Destiny's Child, Gloria Estefan, Ben Stiller). This DVD is worth buying for the very funny skit with Telly and Ben Stiller at the end. They sing "People in Your Neighborhood" and Ben decides he wants to be a person in the neighborhood and puts on a costume. It is very funny, entertaining, with great songs and good guest stars. What more could you ask for from Sesame Street?
"Somebody Come And Play" Today.......2005-09-11
I first heard the song "Somebody Come And Play" at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. It was performed by Sesame Street characters Big Bird, Rosita and Elmo with a live full orchestra. It sounded amazing, and catchy too. Of course I then wanted to hear the original version from the television show, and thus found this DVD- Sesame Street Sings Karaoke.
And what a lot of fun it is. You see, on Sesame Street, there's something in the air that makes everyone want to sing. And just to start things off right, the DVD starts with the full version of my favorite Sesame Street song "Somebody Come And Play". Elmo and Rosita have a playdate but can't find in each other, and so break into this very cute song.
We then move on into the evening and the main part of the Karaoke show where the Sesame Street family are gathered together. Various Sesame Street favorites are performed by our Sesame Street friends: Rosita sings "You Say Hola" as does Gloria Estefan, Gabi and Miles sing "New Way To Walk" as do Destiny's Child, Telly and Baby Bear sing "Let's Go Driving" Gina and Elmo sing "Ladybug Picnic", Bob sings "People in Your Neighbourhood" as does Ben Stiller and Elmo sings "ABC-DEF-GHI". There's more too. It's also perfect singing learning for kids and adults in that we can learn through the Karaoke mistakes that the Sesame Street characters make.
Note that there are no on-screen lyrics for we the audience. The Sesame Street gang have their lyrics if they need them on their screen, but we don't on our screen. Perfect excuse to simply re-watch the DVD again and again.
All in all, a very enjoyable DVD and possibly the best Sesame Street DVD out there.

Customer Reviews:
giggles and fun.......2007-01-24
My 14 month old loves the sesame street characters. She laughs and does her own little version of the "big kids" dance. I can actually get my bill writing done while she's watching this DVD. I don't exist when it's playing.
Give it a chance!.......2006-12-06
The first time I put this one on my daughter walked away from the TV. I was thrilled because after a few minutes I wasn't sure that I could've sat through it anyway. We were very disappointed. I tried it again a month or so later (making her 16 months) and she enjoyed it. The more she watched it, the more it grew on me. Now we sing the songs and really get a kick out of the video.
VERY disappointing.......2006-11-20
I love Sesame Street and I love watching it with my 16 month old daughter. However, I found this video to be a major let down. The people are so annoying. I found the flashing lights (used to make it look like American Bandstand) distracting. I can't imagine that they were good for my little one's eyes. Fortunately I rented this one from Netflix before buying. If you want a dance along Sesame video, try Zoe's Dance Moves.
the okay movie.......2006-08-14
Not the best movie we've seen but okay. I think that it was cheap made. I must say that this was the most borring movie even thoug there was lot of music in it.
Disappointed that it's boring.......2006-03-31
This is the only SS video that bored my toddlers. It bores me as well. It's very outdated. The one star I gave was for the Count's song I love. Other than that - save your $$, you can find many other great SS videos out there....My fav is Rock n Roll Sesame Street. Very clever and great songs for adults too.
