In this movie you'll meet Salty the desiel ngine, Harvey the Crane Engine, And Elizibeth, Sir Thoppam's first truck. Watch Salty do work he really doesn't to very quikly, watch Harvey rescue Percy in two good ways, watch Cranky the crain cause a silly accident. Wath what happens when a new fog horn, uum, well might destroy itself. Watch happens wen the mail is to heavy for Harold. And find out what happens Thomas'es driver discover a vintage Quarry Truck

Saltys secret is a great tape to add to your seires of thomas videos the storys on the tape feature a new chracter in almost every story my brother and sister were always woundering when are thare going to be new chracters wean we were at the store one day they baged us to get so we did we all enjoyed the storys on the tape the best is harvey to the rescue but the new charcter elzibaeth was jest plain rude none us relly liked her but anyway if you have a new thomas fan in your family looking for new chracters buy this p.s. We love this video. Salty is especially neat and shows the viewers that even though you may not enjoy what you're doing right now, pretty soon you'll be rewarded for your hard work and get to do what you enjoy. Salty is sent to the quarry to help out and gets the job done so very fast and impresses Sir Topham Hat. Salty is able to keep the troublesome trucks in line and is the only engine able to do so. In the Fogman story, when Hatt tries to replace Seral with a machine to warn the engines of fog, it causes a disaster and Seral gets his job back. Percy helps Harold when he crashes to the ground and learns how to be a true friend.
We watch this video over, and over and over... It is just so very cute and well done. Highly recommend!
Great DVD!.......2005-05-12
What a very, very cute DVD this one is! Salty is just really neat and provides a great deal of entertainment for my little one. He's got one of those Scottish seaman accents, complete with a couple of missing front teeth, and is just a delight to watch. Alec Baldwin narrates this one and does a wonderful job on Salty's voice. Really, really cute and we watch this one over, and over, and over...
All of the stories are very well done and it's very nice to see stories about Cranky again. Salty calls crabby folks around Sodor "Captain" which makes my little one laugh each time. Cranky is the "captain" in this movie.
Highly recommend this one!

His voices for Percy, TFC, Harvey, and Salty are atrotious but I love his James voice that makes James sound pleasant. Gordon and Thomas are good too.
So basicly the video consists of 6 episodes, 5 of them with brand new characters and the other one is a 2 part. The construction crew is A WASTE OF TIME. Without them this video would get a 4.
Gordon and Spencer: 4.5/5
A lesson in taking others advice. It is nice to see Gordon, a personal favorite, being more humble and teaching a lesson instead of learning one. The Story introduces a guest engine named Spencer who is much faster than Gordon. When Gordon tells him to take on water before climbing the hill he does not listen and runs out. Gordon has to come to his rescue.
Emily's new coaches: 3.5/5
A good story but it just didnt wow me like some others do. It is nice to see a female character who will be developed. Emily soon takes an important center of the railway. Emily comes to the island and takes Thomas's coaches by mistake. When she was learning the line all of the engines were giving her weird looks which made her feel unwanted. Soon she saves Thomas from a terrible accident and is rewarded with her very own coaches.
Peace and Quiet: 4/5
Murdoch is introduced. Now i personally liked Murdoch but the very powerful heavy goods train title was already taken by Henry and Donald and Dougles. His shyness in the story causes him to yell at Salty and Harvey. He only apreciates there company when sheep stray onto his line and he has to wait and listen to baas. I liked the story alot...too bad well never see him again:(
Spotless Record: 4/5
Arthur is introduced here, a big shy heavy goods train (sound familiar?) but Arthur has a spotless record. When Thomas plays a trick on him it causes Arthur to have an accident which ruined his spotless record. This story would have scored higher except for the very stupid last line "spotless records are meant to get broken, and then mended again" Once again...I like Arthur, he wil have some parts in "Fish!" (the second one) and (something fishy). But not enough to develop his character
Jack Jumps in/A Friend in need: 0/5
No need to write 2 angry reviews on this video, ill combine these 2. I DID NOT GET BOB THE BUILDER FOR A REASON! The story is pretty good and I wish they would have done it with engines. Jack is an over eager front loader who wants to help everyone but cant do every job. This ends up causing an accident. In part 2 of this story, Jack saves Thomas by holding up a bridge single handed (unrealistic) while Thomas goes across it.

Pretty good, upbeat song. It describes the 3 new engines from this DVD and then talks about Salty and Harvey because they are aparently new.
All in all I would recomend this video but watch out! all of these stories require at least one character so if you do get this DVD be prepared for the gimmies from your children

My son is a Thomas addict and a construction addict. So he was completely enchanted with the new character Jack the Loader and the adventures at the quarry with the rest of the construction vehicles. He asks for this video again and again.

This has to be one of the worst cases of misrepresentational packaging that I have ever seen. The cover art shows a happy Thomas with a happy Spencer. Then the first story goes on to tell how arrogant Spencer is and how he gets his comeuppance - and Thomas is not even a main character in the story. My three-year-old son watched this story then asked me to turn the DVD off! My husband and I talked him into sitting down with us to watch the rest of the disc and we were very disappointed. Thomas is mean to Emily when she accidently takes his coaches. Murdoch is rude to his new shed-mates. And the two Jack the Loader stories feature a bullying dump truck named Max. This won't get a lot of replays at our house.

Thomas & Friends comes up with many new characters, and some of them they just give only one or two stories, but each new character adds to the wooden and take-along trains sold as toys.
Let me start out by introducing the new characters. First of all, there is Spencer, the British Mallard who belongs to the visiting Duke and Duchess of Boxford. He appears in "Gordon And Spencer" and "Edward The Great" but since he is very popular, he'll probably make more appearances in future videos.
Next, there is Emily, the old fashioned engine with large inner wheels. She has her own stories, but maybe that's just because female engines aren't shown very often.
Next, there is Murdoch, the big strong engine. So far he has appeared in "Peace And Quiet" and "Best Dressed Engine," plus he did a cameo in "Percy And The Flying Carpet."
Second to last, there is Arthur, a big red tank engine who plays by the rules. So far he has apeared in "The Spotless Record," "Fish" and "Something Fishy."
Finally, there is Jack the front loader and his construction crew. They appear in "Jack Jumps In" and "A Friend In Need," but since there are so many vehicles, they should also make future appearances!
Overall, I would give this 5 stars anyway because their stories so far were very good. They overcome their problems and teach viewers how to get along. I would recommend adding this video to your collection.

This movie is good for kids who are avid Thomas fans because it brings out a number of the little known or seen characters. BE AWARE THAT IT DOES NOT COME WITH MAVIS AS PICTURED. This complaint was raised to Amazon who failed to solve the problem.
Duck, not Mavis.......2006-11-05
This video is A-ok in my son's opinion (2 yrs old). This video came with "Duck" rather than Mavis, as depicted. So, as I was promising "Mavis" if he went on the potty, I then had to go out and buy Mavis. Oops. (We already had Duck.)

1:Spencer and Gordon: Spencer is a shiny, silver engine. He's very fast. He's also the private engine for the Duke and Dutchess. One day, Spencer had to go up Gordon's Hill. Gordon warned Spencer to take lot's of water. But he didn't. Then Spencer broke down on the hill.
2:Emily's new Coaches: A new engine named Emily showed up one day. She started to pull Thomases coaches. She says hello to everyone, but no one answers her. She found out why. Then, Oliver breaks down on the cross-road. Thomas is coming on the other track. Emily pushes Oliver out of the way just on time. For this, she was givin her own coaches
3:The Spotless Record: Arthur is a new, red engine. He also has a spotless record. One day the Troublesome Trucks were singing, and giving Arthur trouble. Thomas told him that Sir toppam Hatt
didn't like the trucks singing.
4:Peace and Quiet: On the island of Sodor there was a lot of work to be done. They needed a strong engine to help at the docks and at the countryside. Murdoch was very shy, but wherever he went it was very noisy. When he went back to the sheds, he hoped he could sleep, but Harvey and Salty had questions. The next day Murdoch was going through the countryside, and he thought he finally had his peace and quiet. But then, around the next corner there were some sheep who had broken out from their field. Once the sheep were gone, Murdoch was on his way and very happy. When he got back to the sheds, he was happy to answer Harvey and Salty's questions, unlike last time.
