This was purchased as a gift and has not personally been seen by me, however, the reports I got from the kids who received it are glowing. One can't miss with Tom and Jerry.

This brief feature (only 62 minutes) mixes characters and situations borrowed from various shorts that Tex Avery, William Hanna, and Joseph Barbera made at MGM during the 1940s and early '50s. Yet director James Tim Walker lacks the razor-sharp timing of his models. When a young wizard leaves Tom to guard his magic ring, and Jerry gets the ring stuck on his head, a long series of chases and slapstick confrontations ensue. At times, Walker and writers Tim Cahill and Julie McNally seem to be trying to turn the venerable MGM stars into Itchy and Scratchy (who were modeled after the inferior Tom and Jerry clones from other studios). Magic Ring may amuse small children, but not their older siblings. It feels suspiciously like an attempt to revive Tom and Jerry as a merchandising franchise. A classic.......2006-08-18

I bought this for my 3 1/2 year old son to watch on our portable DVD player on a trip from Georgia to Pennsylvania. Let's just say, I can recognize which cartoon is playing from the music. He loves the 14 cartoon collection. The set also comes with 2 movies, but he prefers the cartoons. Would rather have purchased without the movies, but he may like them when he is older. This is such a classic cartoon; my husband and I enjoy watching it with him and his 14 month old sister is begining to enjoy it as well.

Tom & Jerry's Greatest Chases is great! It's the Hanna/Barbera/Quimby animated shorts from the 50's. The other two are movies that were done in 1992 and 2001. "Tom and Jerry and the Magic Ring" is *OK* and my kids enjoy it. But "Tom and Jerry - The Movie" is just bad... I can see why this 3-pack was put together - it's the only way to sell the junk disc...

2 Out Of 3 Ain't Bad.......2003-10-30

Tom & Jerry...my favorite cartoon duo. This is a 3 dvd set. The first one "Tom & Jerry's Greatest Chases" features 14 of the greatest Tom & Jerry cartoons. It also features an excerpt from the movie "Anchors Aweigh" with Gene Kelly dancing with Jerry. This DVD by itself is definitly worth the purchase, if you are an old time Tom & Jerry fan this may be the only DVD of the 3 you may want. All the cartoons are classics. On the 2nd DVD "Tom And Jerry:The Magic Ring" this is actually an amusing movie, not quite as good as the earlier cartoons but it does include 2 excellent cartoons on it..."The Flying Sorceress" which features Tom going wild and crazy with a witches broom & "Haunted Mouse". Overall "The Magic Ring" is pretty good but again, not as good as the classic Tom & Jerry cartoons. On the 3rd DVD "Tom & Jerry:The Movie" this one I really didn't like...maybe it's good for the children who didn't grow up with Tom & Jerry but for me having watched all the old cartoons I didn't really care for the "talking" Tom & Jerry. This DVD however also features 2 old Tom & Jerry Cartoons "The Invisible Mouse" which is ok and "Just Ducky" which was very good. Overall this is a good collection...but if you just want the classic Tom & Jerry then just buy the first DVD on it's own "Tom & Jerry:Greatest Chases".
