Bruce Lee was an amazingly prolific, influential, and graceful man, and his mark on the world have been assured even if he hadn't made a single film. But those five films he made as an adult (he was a child actor in Hong Kong before returning to the U.S.), along with his untimely death, have captured the imagination of generations of martial arts fans. Because of his high profile, though, Lee's life has been well documented over the years--so this A&E Biography proves somewhat redundant, despite its quality. The Immortal Dragon may be more accurate than other offerings--Dragon, the Lee bio that starred Jason Scott Lee (no relation, but a remarkable resemblance), is probably the most entertaining--but there aren't enough revelations here to make it indispensable. At a scant 50 minutes, The Immortal Dragon may not have enough time to fulfill on its initial promise. How unlike Lee. --Randy Silver
Description
He fought his way from the mean streets of Hong Kong to international superstardom. With blazing fists and a burning passion, he became one of the most celebrated kung-fu masters of all time. In classic films like Fists of Fury and Enter the Dragon, he created the martial arts action genre that has become a favorite of moviegoers worldwide. But just as he reached the height of fame, he was struck down by a mysterious ailment or was it the curse that supposedly follows his family? This fascinating program examines the short, meteoric life of Bruce Lee. Exclusive interviews with friends and family including his late son Brandon and extensive footage from home movies, screen-tests and his legendary films help reveal the man behind the myth of the Immortal Dragon.

phylography.......2007-05-18
If someone told me "Bruce Lee was a philosopher" a few years ago, I would have laughed out loud.
I've loved Bruce Lee as Martial Arts expert/performer/action_movie-pioneer for years and years, but the stuff I read about Bruce Lee's philosophy and ideas in general was always muddy, oddly put together, and or tough to read.
This bio is concise, informative, and not repetitive the way a lot of early A&E Biographies were. And of course, the best thing about this DVD, is that you see and understand that Bruce Lee was more than a physical phenom that moved (more than anyone I've ever seen) in what could be posted in wikipedia as "Poetry in Motion."
Truely expressing oneself.......2007-02-20
This Biography in my opinion was definately one of the best introductions to how Bruce really was. It shows and tells about him as a person all around, a 360 degree profile. From when he was acting as a boy, to becoming the martial arts master he lives on through this documentary of the legend that is Bruce Lee. Out of all his movies, this is the one I've probably watched the most. It helps capture the essence of his character. A very inspirational telling about his art and the steps he had to take in order to achieve the level of fluidity and beauty he produced, or better yet, was produced through him. 5 out of 5 most definately
The Best Bruce Lee Documentary Available.......2005-10-03
This is without doubt the best Bruce Lee documentary for sale. I say this because the very best one was the first BIOGRAPHY that A&E aired in the early 90's, but due to not having secured the legal rights, they were forced to destroy the master print and make a new one (the one on this review). It is a shame, because if this one is still a five star bio, the other one was a true masterpiece of editing, color, soundtrack, rarer clips from Lee's appeareance in tv shows like IRONSIDE and training footage. And seemed like it was put together as a labor of love. This one is excellent too, but lacks the depth and warm of the other one. Still highly recommendable though.
A Great Talent.......2000-09-04

Bruce Lee.......2007-01-10
I am an avid Bruce Lee fan, and I enjoyed this DVD very much. I suggest it to anyone that is a fan of Bruce Lee.
One's nocive in martial arts opinion about this material.......2007-01-06
My english is not very perfect, but I will try to share with my thoughts
as a begginer in martial arts to others, who also have decided to become a dedicated martial artists as I did.
This material, a dvd, Bruce Lee's JKD has it's own pluses and minuses, but it is essential for those wanting to feel more deeply what a real martial art is about, will you can get from it what you wish in your own life and no doubt, you will know better why Bruce Lee is to be called a real teacher of martial arts.
In Your far way long process this material is a good thing research to.
I would call it a piece of material for future martial arts teachers, not for schoolboys and girls. Because even to understand it, you need a deeper dedication to it, same thing if you will try to practice, just nine times more.
I hope I did not make too much mistakes, thank you for possibility to express my self.
Have a nice day.
Beware of an identical product under a different name........2006-04-24
If you don't have any of Bruce Lee's old interviews and home videos, this is mildly enlightening. If you do, this is the same stuff repackaged.
Real Dissapointment.......2005-09-09
This film takes footage and sound bites from the T.V. Documentary special Bruce Lee: A Warriors Journey. It tries to make itself seem like an instructional video and not a documentary, but there is little instruction at all. There is footage of Bruce training some 70's star, but it is b.s. Also, the sound clips are edited from their original format of the television documentary, like when bruce was talking of Ging-fu, now they edit it to say Jeet Kune Do. In all of bruces books, which are BY HIM, he makes it apparent that Jeet Kune Do is not an actual style, but this movie tries to make money off of a contradiction. If you want to know about the true lee, buy Tao of Jeet Kune Do, or the Bruce Lee's fighting Techniques series. The only reason I gave this 2 stars is for some Footage of bruce demonstrating the power punch and some of his side kicks.
A Great Compilation of Bruce Lee's Rarely Seen Footage !.......2004-09-02
A nice mix of home movie footage, movie clips, audio commentary by Bruce and Brandon Lee and interview footage from Dan Inosanto are all brought together in a wonderfully edited piece that is truly motivated to shed light on Jeet Kune Do. Just watching and listening to the footage of Bruce and James Coburn training (which incidentally is much longer and less cut than other documentaries showing only portions of this footage) is a great enlightenment into the way that Bruce Lee taught his art. One of the few, if not the only, documentaries on Bruce Lee that leaves you in awe of what he really was about. I really should not call it a documentary because it takes the available footage and makes it into a teaching/training DVD for JKD. Also Dan Inosanto lends a lot of personal insight in a pleasingly lengthy interview at the end.
The instruction, though not vast and complex, reflects the foundation of what Bruce was working with. Much of what is valuable pertains to a person's initiative more so than to obtaining techniques. Many tend to overlook the value of simple things and focus on acquiring an arsenal of techniques to tap into. Bruce was so very focused on the simplicity and directness of being and acting within the living moment, that he encapsulated what most others tend to disregard in their search for complexity. Many people approach an art looking for something new to learn and understand as opposed to trying to do what one already knows and understands very well. Acquiring new techniques is one thing. Applying yourself to make your actions useful and effective is another. The impact of simple ideas and common knowledge may be of little use to one person, and hold great depth for another. Bruce could see the value and become dynamically involved in the simplicity that others would fail to give credence to.
It should be noted that the techniques and drills that Bruce used to practice were meant to act as a foundation for providing a structure to grow from. Not as an end all group of movements to embrace.
The visual quality of the footage is by no means great when, after all, you are watching his home movies and listening to old audio recordings. However, the content is unprecedented when it comes to explaining Jeet Kune Do and getting a real sense of Bruce Lee the man. There is indeed enough here to provide a foundation that you can take and run with if you want to pursue training yourself the way Bruce did.
Don't miss this one!

Simple & Direct.......2007-08-19
As a female practioner of JKD for the past three years, I have found this set of instructional DVD's to be of the utmost quality. Mr. Hajnasr's detailed, step-by-step instruction has helped me to develop a deeper understanding of the original art of Jeet Kune Do. I highly recommend this set for the excellent quality and extensive knowledge Mr. Hajnasr demonstrates. His passion for the art is contagious.
'' 2 Thumbs Up '' on the Revised Edition !!!.......2007-07-25
Once again George has done an outstanding job on this version to say the least! This Edition is a revised version which still carrys his fire, passion , and enthusiasm for Jeet Kune Do!! He has also made it easy to follow along with professional quality DVD's for anyone to follow to increase their knowledge and skill of JKD'! Great job on a job well done!! Larry Milam
Second to None.......2007-07-18
This is the best Jeet Kune Do/Martial Arts book and DVD set I have seen. The book is well written and easy to understand for the beginner and has a great deal of information for the advanced. I have a large collection of DVD's by some of the most well known Jeet Kune Do/Martial Arts practitioners' and George Hajnasr's set is second to none.
These DVD's are a must for any martial artist.......2007-07-13
George Hajnasr's DVD set is one of the most informative series ever put together on the art of Jun Fan and Jeet Kune Do. As a Bruce Lee historian who has had over 30 articles published in martial arts magazines across the globe, I can vouch for Mr. Hajnasr's knowledge and skill. The DVD's are professionally done (an oddity in JKD) and contain a wealth of information that is presented in an easy, yet informative way. I highly recommend these DVD's.

If you want some footage of Mr. Lee, go ahead & buy this. Otherwise, I can't recommend it.
A DVD For Bruce Lee Collectors.......2004-02-06
Given that the footage of Bruce Lee is so limited, as it seems is the budget of this production, I found this disc pretty enjoyable. The footage is very raw, but Bruce Lee's incredible energy still comes through. As a training video, it is good at teaching the concepts and philosophy behind Jeet Kune Do. A few basics are taught. There is footage of Lee teaching James Coburn with Lee analyzing the film. This to me is new, so I found it pretty interesting. The footage of his interview with Pierre Barton is amazing as always, though the picture quality is not as good as found on the Enter The Dragon bonus side
I believe the one reviewer is wrong in saying part of the narration is done by a Bruce Lee soundalike. Lee is reading from an article written about him. That is why he refers to himself in third person. The same audio is found on the Enter The Dragon bonus, but here there is more of it.
Overall I enjoyed it as I love to listen to Bruce Lee's philosophies as much as seeing his action in movies.
Not for the ametuer.......2002-03-20
This DVD will NOT teach you JKD. If you are already Familiar with it, then it is VERY helpful. I have been studying Jeet Kune Do for about 2 years now, only under Bruce Lee's original style and schooling. You must understand what JKD revolves around. Tao. The way. It doesn't matter how strong your axe kick is, because if I truely know the Tao about any martial art, my effectivity will be much better. Watching Bruce Lee's form is very helpful to realize how JKD looks in fluid movements and in combat situations. However, if you want to learn a martial art, I defenietly suggest buying the Tao of Jeet Kune Do, and after that move on to books on form, then finally go to perfecting motion, etc.
Great Personal Bruce Footage - Otherwise, Exploitive.......2002-01-12
This DVD, authorized by the Bruce Lee estate, claims to be a training film on Jeet Kune Do. It shows old footage of Bruce Lee, in rare home movies and his films, and tries to use these clips to discuss his art Jeet Kune Do. The very serious person, who wants to either learn or research this art, will move on to much better things. This DVD, only scartches the service, and one is better off reading books by Bruce (Toa of Jeet Kune Do) or Jerry Beasley, if he or she cannot take lessons.
Danny Inosanto is interviewed and demonstrates some concepts, but the direction and production lacks any real coherence as it shoots between Bruce Lee footage and Inosanto. It mixes Bruce's voice with another voice which sounds similar to Bruce's (sounds very close, but speaks of Bruce in the third person) and this interaction is a little distracting.
It should probably be only two stars, but sentimentally, I gave it three, because Bruce Lee fans will probably want to collect rare footage not seen anywhere else.
